Persecution has its Advantages
2007-10-05 04:25:00
Persecution, although a terrible trial on those being persecuted, has proven to be beneficial to church growth and orthodoxy throughout history. In early Christian history, when the church was originally persecuted with a key factor being the destruction all of its writings and the execution of those who did not cooperate, it was very important ...

The Very, Very Brief Story of the Canon
2007-09-29 00:22:00
The Greek word where we get the word canon means a “measuring rod.” We use the word to describe the collection of books within the Bible. This collection is divided into two sections, called the Old Testament and the New Testament. The word that is the basis for “testament” is a Latin word derived from a Greek word that means an agreement, or covenant.1 So, it is perhaps better to call these the Old and New Covenants, rather than Testaments. In practical terms, the Old Covenant is a description of the agreement made by God with the people of Israel at Mt. Sinai. The New Covenant is the agreement made by God through the incarnation and death of Jesus. The books that were selected to be in each of these groups of the canon had to accurately reflect these agreements and all of the teachings that went along with them. Although there was about a thousand-year period in which the Old Covenant canon was being formed,2 the best reason for the Christian to accept it in its received...

Statements of Faith - Do You Know What Your Church Believes?: A Second Life
2007-08-25 21:44:00
At my place of employment, we are looking at the business uses of Second Life . I have written briefly regarding Second Life previously, but I had never used the technology. 2007-07-27 03:57:00
Thomas Aquinas understands, what so many defenders of orthodoxy will not understand. It is no good to tell an atheist that he is an atheist; or to charge a denier of immortality with the infamy of denying it; or to imagine that one can force an opponent to admit he is wrong, by proving that ...

Christopher Hitchens and Crazy Pills

Intelligent Design or Being Intelligent?
2007-06-30 05:15:00
It is interesting to note that most of the arguments against intelligent design presented to the general public are not arguments against the data, but appeals to the consensus among scientists. Instead of being presented with refutations of the findings, the masses are only presented with quotes such as ?The majority of scientists believe in ...

Is Science the Only Source of Information?
2007-06-29 02:10:00

Biblical Creation Summarized
2007-06-22 05:50:00
Like most doctrinal statements, the basic premise of creation is easy to understand at its surface: To glorify himself, God created the universe from nothing, and it was good. Prior to the creation, nothing existed except for God himself. This is called creation ex nihilo, or ?creation out of nothing?. This ...

The Work of the Holy Spirit
2007-06-21 02:26:00
The Holy Spirit is the person of the Trinity who is most prominently with us today in the church age. ?The work of the Holy Spirit is to manifest the active presence of God in the world, and especially in the church? What is the Atonement?
2007-06-20 02:16:00
Sin is defined as disobedience to the law of God. Just as modern medicine has taught us that children of parents are more likely to get a disease if their parents had it, sin spreads from parents to children. Unlike our medical example, however, the chance of inheriting the disease of sin is ...

What is History?
2007-06-19 05:10:00
As human beings, we all have our own thoughts, desires, and feelings.
