Restore Your Soul By Robert H. Schuller"Restore to me the joy of Your salvation." -Psalm 51:12 I remember as a child rubbing a furry, soft peach against my cheek. It felt so soft and good. But, when I turned the peach over, the backside was all raw and rough. It had been scraped by the scratchy splintered inside of a wooden bushel basket. As I looked at it I realized there was absolutely nothing I could do to restore its soft luster. You can take a violet blossom that feels just like velvet. You can pluck it, throw it down and trample it under your foot. But, when you pick up the crushed velvety violet, nothing can restore it to its original beauty. You cannot redeem or replace the scraped and bruised side of a fuzzy peach or crushed violet blossom. But, God can restore your soul like new again! It is possible! It is happening all the time! Arloji dan serbuk kayu Seorang tukang kayu yang sedang berkerja, tiba-tiba secara tak sengaja arlojinya terjatuh dan terbenam diantara tingginya tumpukan serbuk kayu. Arloji itu adalah sebuah hadiah dan telah dipakainya cukup lama, ia amat mencintai arloji tersebut. Karenanya ia berusaha sedapat mungkin untuk menemukan kembali arlojinya. Sambil mengeluh mempersalahkan keteledoran diri sendiri si tukang kayu itu membongkar tumpukan serbuk yang tinggi itu. Teman-temannya juga turut membantu mencarinya, namun mereka tetap tidak dapat menemukan arloji kesayangannya. Ketika tiba waktu istirahat, para pekerja berhenti mencari dan meninggalkan ruangan tempat kerja mereka. They are afraid to try. I often think of Christy Wilson, that great missionary to Kabul, Afghanistan. The major industry in Kabul was raising sheep, and the major problem in raising sheep was a disease caused by a worm that gets in the intestines of the sheep when they eat snails. Now ducks love to eat these snails, but Christy noticed there were no ducks in Afghanistan. He wrote to a friend in the states and asked for some fertilized duck eggs. Twenty-four fertilized duck eggs were sent. His friend said, "They will hatch, provided the eggs are not dropped, they get there on time and the temperature stays warm.
