The Crucifixion As Seen By Google Earth
2008-01-17 15:05:00
An Australian Art Collective called the Glue Society, is being featured at the Miami Art Fair. So what? Well, their exhibit is pretty cool, imo. It's the Bible as seen by Google Earth . Cool beans. The one below is Noah's Ark. I read about this on this blog.Blog Directory

The Shadow Grows Larger
2008-01-13 15:28:00
I've been thinking about influences lately. By that I mean people who have influenced me. Of course, the list changes with time, although as I approach 40 I am surprised at the names that stay. Jimmy Page. Still. It's weird. I can't justify it, really, anymore. He's a great guitarist, but... he's still the bee's knees to me. I guess he's a childhood hero that hasn't worn out his welcome. To this day, my first answer to any question on Jeopardy is "Jimmy Page".The next person is crazy because the older I get, the more of an influence he is. That cat is Aleister Crowley. Yup. The wickedest man on earth. Ooooooh ,Spooky, to quote Count Floyd. And yet, the older I get, the more depth I find in his writing. My general opinion of the man remains fairly static, but his genius... true genius, seems more and more obvious as I age.Like most I came to Crowley through Jimmy Page. He had purchased Crowley's estate on Loch Ness, after all, and did the soundtrack to Lucifer Rising (a sh...

I do haz dem. I'm turning 40 this month, and I couldn't be less pleased with where I am in life... financially. I have a wonderful family, and a dollop of dear friends.... don't get me wrong. It's just that midway through life's journey of threescore years and ten... I find myself lost in a dark wood.... and I can't find my ruby slippers.moar funny picturesBlog Directory

WTF? Slouching Towards Bethelehem
2007-12-27 18:34:00
Yay! America has it's own Palestine. It was even created in 1948 (ish) like Israel. And... it has a history of unbroken conflict based on, primarily, religious differences, and issues of borders and sovereignty. And now, Bhutto is dead. She was no saint, but she was a voice of reason. Hail Discordia. Chaos increases. The center cannot hold.Blog Directory

Lakota Secede. Marlon Brando Still Dead.
2007-12-21 23:16:00
Holy Shit. It's not like I expect anything to change, but... what a statement, huh? Here's the whole story from Yahoo News. I did a weekend new agey sweat lodge w/ the Lakota , back in 1988-1990 ish (records from that era are spotty) and it was cool. Very cool. George Whirlwind Soldier, and Phil Lane. were the gentlemen's names. The Lakota Indians, who gave the world legendary warriors Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, have withdrawn from treaties with the United States, leaders said Wednesday."We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us," long-time Indian rights activist Russell Means told a handful of reporters and a delegation from the Bolivian embassy, gathered in a church in a run-down neighborhood of Washington for a news conference.A delegation of Lakota leaders delivered a message to the State Department on Monday, announcing they were unilaterally withdrawing from treat...

Led Zeppelin Reunion Videos. No Quarter and Since I've Been Loving You
2007-12-20 15:11:00
My favorite stealth camera guy was at O2, taping Zep. Yay. His name is a chakra, and he's been around, producing excellent quality (video and audio) productions since, at least, 1995. These clips are not complete, and they're in Youtube Flash, which is super lossy, but... nontheless the magick is there. Observe. Here is No Quarter . The end with the wah wah pedal is insane. Jason Bonham swings like dad, without being a copycat. Nice. And here is some of Since I've Been Loving You. Wonderful song. Jimmy's tone is tope notch. Enjoy!Blog Directory

That's the Alchemical Process, Bitches. Jimmy Page Talks Magick (a little)
2007-12-16 16:24:00
This is from the January 2008 issue of Guitar World, courtesy of a spooooooooky Aleister Crowley site, by way of my fav Led Zeppelin fan forum. ;)It's cool. (Guitar World) Could we talk a little about the meaning behind your Sequence [in The Song Remains The Same movie]?(Page ) To me, the significance is very clear, isn’t it?(GW) Well, I find it interesting that you were choosing to represent yourself as a hermit at a time when you were really quite a public figure.(Page) Well, I was hermetic. I was involved in the hermetic arts, but I wasn’t a recluse. Or maybe I was… The image of the hermit that was used for the [inside cover] art-work on Led Zeppelin IV and in the movie actually has its origins in a painting of Christ called The Light of the World by the pre-Raphaelite artist William Holman Hunt. The imagery was later transferred to the Waite tarot deck [the most popular tarot deck in use in the English-speaking world]. My segment was supposed to be the aspirant going to th...

My Take On The Led Zeppelin Reunion, Written While Listening To The Show Wi
2007-12-12 17:08:00
Led Zeppelin. They're back... and they're a real band. I'm listening to the reunion show, w/ headphones, and... I just got lost in the groove... like w/ Zep. Jason Bonham is doing a remarkable job of honoring his dad, not being a mere mimic, and jamming with the boys. There is no grading on the curve. The band I'm listening to is not in their 60's. Nor are they merely performing. They're grooving. That indefinable synergy is there. Holy shit. They're not free form jamming like the old days, but... the little fills, responses... the telepathy is there. And the tone! Jimmy's tone is rich. I don't mean digital preset rich, I mean like think and heavy and pregnant with meaning... like Hendrix, or ... Jimmy Page. They're playing a whole step lower, to accommodate a 60 year old Robert Plant. But.. even then, they had guitars made, reworked, customized to play lower while still maintaining that tone. Holy shit. The tightness and effortlessness of this music is insane. They've b...

Cavitations in the Aethyr. Morphic Resonance and Led Zeppelin
2007-12-09 15:57:00
Led Zeppelin are playing tomorrow. This is momentous. There are ripples in the morphic resonance, almost like a Doppler phenomenon, but far more significant. The world of Archetypes is bleeding through the tissue paper floss separating us. So much do to do. So much to accomplish.I had an absolutely lovely weekend with my wife. We're starting to see the result of all the hard work.Am I saying that after a week of unemployment you're financially better off? Yup. Demonstrably so. There is a chance I will freelance with the company with whom I worked, and I hope that can happen. That would allow me to continue all the things I loved about working there, and still stay home, raise the baby, and teach guitar. When I factor in the money saved on gas, and child care, that's totally win/win. I feel badly about how I quit. I basically blew a gasketUnfortunately, I try to make untenable situations work, long after I should have hit eject. The job itself didn't suck. It just didn't ...

So Far So Good
2007-12-05 00:56:00
Well, so far I have enough students to make my old salary (net) and still stay home, work on projects, and raise the baby. Win/Win. The sky did not fall. The heavens did not close. I was not cast out of the Garden. I woke up at 7, not 5:30. I made four blog posts for my money blogs, and I have made money at that as well. It's not comparable to my gross wage, but it is comparable to the net.I have so much less stress, and so much more time, and even more money. Teach a couple of hours in the after noons, at three times my old wage, write for some projects, make a little $$, raise my daughter, keep house, and ... oh yes, have a life. Brilliant. I'm still watching the skies, but there doesn't seem to be a downside. My old job wasn't hellish, just not worth it. It happens. I believe it was Alfred North Whitehead who said, "If you ain't got nothin', you got nothin' to lose."I miss people already. I miss people. I don't miss the Machine. So far, so good.Blog Directory

I Apologize For Nothing! Take This Job And ...
2007-12-02 14:41:00
My job sucks. I bet your job sucks too. It's the American way. Serfdom. The irony is murderous. I get paid a pittance, a truly embarassing amount to write content online. Some of it is ad content, some of it is blogging, and some of it is script writing for online web videos. That part is just fine. The shitty part is the ridiculous contempt in which the employees are held, by the ruling elite. I'm forty years old, and I still can expect to be yelled at by my boss. Projects are routinely rejected on the cusp of completion. Promises are broken before they're fully formed, and (get this) I'm expected to be thankful for the opportunity to make them money. And I do. I have reports and numbers that confirm that I make them more money than they pay me. And yet... more layers of management, petty and bitchy, and more and more rules and prohibitions have tipped the scales. It's no longer worth it.When I factor in the cost of gas, child care, food, and the hours and hours of driving....

Led Zeppelin Reunion Interview 2007Music Video Codes By Music Jesus .comI can't wait for the Led Zeppelin reunion show! Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones look great, and they're saying exactly what every Zep fan wants to hear. The fire is still there, and the groove still holds. The concert is only ten days away. I know won't be there, but I'll have my hands on a recording of the show w/in 24 hours. I love the Internet, and the live music trading community for that. No need to buy a shitty bootleg. Just download, and share, a clean copy, with a lineage, and quality control, from a site like Dime A Dozen, or The Traders' Den. There's so much good music out there, people. Every band you've ever loved has live stuff that you haven't heard. Many bands have live video that you've never seen. And it's all free and legal. It's not like downloading their albums. That's piracy. But a live recording that someone made is 100% okey dokey. It's not a bootleg if it's free. Deadheads pi...

The Empire Never Ended - Wolves in Sheikh's Clothing
2007-11-24 17:54:00
Interior Lupercalia CaveI don't know if any of you fine folks have read about the latest archaeological discovery in Italy. They (who are they? They are the people who have always made you uneasy. You know who they are, and make no mistake, they know you.) discovered a wonderfully preserved grotto on the Palatine Hill, near the Palace of Augustus. It is rumored to be the traditional place where Romulus and Remus (Latin, not Uncle) were nursed by the wolf. That's what was celebrated in the Lupercalia, which got Jesus-ized into Valentine's Day by the Christians. The only thread I see between the two holidays is the cross species anomalous behavior. Lupercalia celebrates a mother wolf nursing and raising the human founders of Rome (and thus, Western Civilization... yes, I know Greece helped too.) Valentine's Day has a wing-ed baby in a diaper shooting people with arrows and forcing them to eat cardiac chocolate. (Thanks for the correction, Brigid!)God's Design may be intellig...

Moaning Lisa - The Sexiest Use For the Wii
2007-10-10 14:19:00
Bravo! I love nerdpr0n! At the latest Arse Elektronika, a techie perv combined the essence of the Wii controller's sensor system, and a Real Doll. He didn't use a real Real Doll, because Real Dolls cost real dollars. But... he made a woman that you can seduce through different kinds of touching. There are rub sensors, touch sensors, light sensors, potentiometers (nipples), etc. It's silly, but it's also pretty cool It's a nine minute video, but what the hell. Are you busy, or something? Piracy v. Heresy: They Burn Heretics Don't They?
2007-10-10 13:29:00
People love pirates. Johnny Depp embodying the archetype doesn't hurt. Why pirates? Well, there's a hierarchy, so you can still "get to the top," unlike mere brigands, or anarchists. There's the freedom/danger of the sea. There's the chance for riches. Not just money, but wealth. Treasure. The very word is seductive. There's a Robin Hood element too. Pirates, as portrayed in modernity, tend to go after the big government treasury (Treasure/Treasury... get it?), as opposed to mere robbery. Stealing from the Man isn't stealing at all, right? I mean, he stole it from us. This romanticizes the act, making thievery a Statement. As Bob Dylan said, "Steal a little and they throw you in jail. Steal a lot and they make you king." -Sweetheart Like You Even today, one opens a whole can of trouble, when finding treasure. Mel Fisher, the undersea treasure hunter can tell you all about that. Society allows you to finds some treasure, not a lot, though. Mel found more than a lot, he ...

Enjoy.Because I fucked up the code, and left you with a dead video all weekend, I give you this little bonus clip of the Young Ones collaborating on a letter to the bank. It's funny.
