A “Straight Away” Prolife Story
2008-01-28 06:03:00 Y ou may have seen this story on some blogs in the last week, as it fit in so well with marking the 35th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. Lorraine Allard found out she had cancer when she was four months pregnant. She was encouraged to abort so she could begin chemotherephy immediately and possibly save her life. But she stood strong, wanting to give her son life, aiming for a c-section when the baby would be old enough to survive. The baby was born a week before the scheduled c-section, on November 18th. She died two months later, on January 18th, as her husband held her. She left behind four children, including her newborn son. This complete article here shares her story, along with several other pictures. But a few words really struck me when I read the article. You don’t read about them having considering an abortion, even for a brief moment.  I appreciate what the husband said of his wife: “The doctors said they couldn’t do anything becaus... Review: Playskool Tag Tails Zoo Chase
2008-01-26 03:10:00 H ere’s a new way to play the old game of tag, with these cute detachable tails from Playskool. On behalf of CafeMom and PLAYSKOOL, I was given given the priviledge of reviewing three games for toddlers from Playskool, and this is my second review (see below for other review). The Playskool Tag Tails Zoo Chase comes with four adjustable belts, each having a detachable tail:  a tiger, zebra, monkey and a lion. The tails are inter changeable so they do not have to be on a specific belt. This set comes with direction for various game ideas. My girls have had a lot of fun with this, though again, it’s one of those games that can get very rowdy, and I am so ready for spring, so they can run off some of their energy! I can imagine them having fun outside playing tag with these, pretending to be little animals running through the woods! These tails have held up well in the past month we have had them and wipe clean easily as well. In doing searches I have fou... Remembering Angela Hope & 50 Million Aborted Babies
2008-01-22 06:06:00 ~ Remembering Our Daughter, Angela Hope Born Still January 22, 1998 6 lbs. 10 oz. ~ “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, For I am fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 130:13 I t’s hard to believe it’s been ten years now since we said hello and good-bye to our precious little girl. She was born still, because of a placenta abruption. We were talking about her at the Sunday dinner table, imagining another little girl who would be ten years old. Instead of four young girls in a row, it would be five. Yet, she knew no pain on earth. The first face she saw was not mine, it was Jesus. She has seen glory beyong our imagination. She knows more about Jesus than I do! It’s hard to fathom. On the day of her death, it was 25th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. Now it’s 35 years. Since January 22, 1973, nearly 50 million babies have lost their lives from abortion in the United State... In Other Words: Diligently Deliberate
2008-01-22 06:01:00 “I want deliberately to encourage this mighty longing after God. The lack of it has brought us to our present low estate. The stiff and wooden quality about our religious lives is a result of our lack of holy desire. Complacency is a deadly foe of all spiritual growth. Acute desire must be present or there will be no manifestation of Christ to His people. He waits to be wanted. Too bad that with many of us He waits for long, so very long, in vain.” ~A.W.Tozer~ ~ The third word stands out to me as I read this. DELIBERATELY. Do I DELIBERATELY long after God, seek Him, put Him first?  Are the failures in my life, the ones in my children’s lives, because of my complacency - my lack of being deliberate? ~ This hits home right now with some things we are struggling with in our own family. Before our son died, we were a lot stricter on many things, from TV shows, music, games, etc. Things were nipped right away that the children might say that they shouldn... Polls are Now Open for Homeschoolers!
2008-01-16 06:01:00 Y esterday was Michigan’s primaries. It’s been quite interesting reading and watching the debates. I think for us what has made it even more interesting is our older four children are especially interested in it, and can be involved in the conversations with it. Yes, there were even presidential debates here as we discussed who to vote for - even joked how we could just cancel out each other’s votes! Our oldest two boys voted for the first time yesterday. We’ve been checking out books on elections so the younger ones can understand it more too. So your kids want to vote? Now they can, at the Homeschool E-store’s Mock Primary Election. The site is set up for homeschoolers, ages 7-17 who are USA residents. Up to five children per household can cast their vote anytime between now and February 4th. Results of the election and and exit polling results are available real-time. The final results will be posted Monday, February 4th - the... In Other Words: Living Our Faith
2008-01-15 06:44:00 “A family without a commitment to the God of the Bible has no hope of stemming the tide of cultural onslaught. If we mix a little biblical truth, a little secular physchology, a little romance novel idology, and a little eastern mysticism, we will get a deadly mixture of lies. Unfortunately, this is what many Christian families do . . . If we are to experience multigeneraltional faithfulness we must come to a place where we throw off the shackles of our culture and live in the fullness that is found only in Christ. We must be people who live the Word in our homes.” by Voddie T. Baucham, Jr. ~ from his book, Family Driven Faith : Doing What it Takes to Raise Sons and Daughters Who Walk With the Lord I am not claiming authority or having it all together with this quote.  As I shared in a previous post, this book Family Driven Faith: Doing What it Takes to Raise Sons and Daughters Who Walk With the Lordby Voddie T. Review: Playskool Romper Stompers Beast Feet
2008-01-10 06:03:00 O n behalf of CafeMom and PLAYSKOOL, I was given three toys to review! We received three toys last week, and my three youngest girls (ages 4, 6, 8 ) have been greatly enjoying them. I am going to tell you about one toy at a time, and will tell you about the other two toys on the following two Thursdays. This first game is PLAYSKOOL’s 2 Romper Stompers Beast Feet . At first my older children kept calling them “moon shoes”. Not sure what that is, but they thought they were “weird”. But my younger ones have loved them! It makes them about four inches taller. The base of the feet are quite wide and we have not had any falling accidents from them yet! Probably the only thing I don’t like about it is we have laminate wood flooring throughout our house, and from downstairs it does sound like a heard of beasts stomping through! Along with the games we received a pamphlet of suggestions with the games, and one of the suggestions for this... In Other Words: A New Year
2008-01-08 06:02:00 (ooops! I thought this quote was for last week, but it was to be for this week - so here it is moved up here!) “In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.” Proverbs 31: 19 - 21 (NIV) D o you have a new years resolution list? Or, are you too discouraged to write up a new one because you did even come close to meeting your goals last year? Is your list the same as God’s list for you? I personally don’t do well with the new years resolutions - not that I don’t have some things tucked away in my mind that I know God wants me to work on. But I can fail quicker than I can begin and I have found for me, to make short term goals - be it daily, weekly or monthly goals. As I read these verses above, I see how this woman is either home or close to home. She does... BOOK REVIEW: “Family Driven Faith” & one to give away!
2008-01-07 06:01:00 I barely began reading this book, Family Driven Faith : Doing What it Takes to Raise Sons and Daughters Who Walk With the Lordby Voddie T. Baucham, Jr. when I started reading excerpts aloud to my husband, and encouraging him “honey, you have to read this book!” Over halfway through the book, the author wrote, “Mom, if your husband hasn’t read this book, do not - I repeat, do not - hit him over the head with it.” OOOPS! Well, I really did not hit him over the head with it, and I was careful to not be pushy with it, or just read things that would apply to him only. I read things to him that convicted me or I knew he would be in agreement with and things we had discussed or has been of concern to us. He is beginning to read the book! :) (Really, I did not MAKE him!) This book is phenomenal. Not only is it a wake-up call for the family, it’s a wake-up call for our churches. If you are a Christian family, wanting your children to sta...
