One Silly Meme
2008-03-19 20:53:00 I decided to participate in this meme, because it was easy and fast. I suppose if I wanted to get really creative, I could make it something to do with a Biblical parallel, but I just don't have the energy or focus today to do so. (I'm biblically focused today, just not on writing.) So, Robyn over at Overflowing Grace, here you go. I'm not going to tag anyone either, unless of course you want to participate. If you do want to participate and show me what your refridgerator looks like, feel free. Blessings to you all. (I plan to have something more biblically related tomorrow.)This is my refridgerator:There's pictures on it, my calendar (which is completely covered up, just about with things I am supposed to remember, like my books borrowed from the library, so we don't have to pay anymore fines), my meal planner for the week, and of course the top of it is used for storage, and for the bread to sit on. Not very organized, but what can I say, huh? What does yours look like?&nb... More About: Meme , Silly
Passion Week
2008-03-18 16:16:00 Here in the west, we celebrate this week as Passion Week . Sunday was the beginning of the week that led up to Christ's death and resurrection for all. Sunday was the day that we call Palm Sunday. It was the day that Jesus went into Jerusalem on a donkey, and the mulitudes went befor Him, crying Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord! And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed [them] in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. Matthew 21:8-9 KJVIt's hard for me to imagine that this event took place not even a week before a multitude would again come to Him, but this time, they would be coming against Him. That the multitude would be coming to see Him crucified. After Jesus entered Jerusalem, He entered the temple and cleanse...
Homeschooling Under Attack! and DOS
2008-03-10 17:01:00 Whether you are a proponent of homeschooling or not, you should be aware of something that has happened here in California recently, related to homeschooling. The reason you should be aware of it, and be worried about it, is that it's a fact that California sets the precedent for many other states with regard to laws and such. If a law is passed here, it is often copied in other states. The thing that is most disturbing to me, is not so much the homeschooling issue, as the fact that our rights as parents are being stripped! Here's the breakdown:Recently, a homeschooling family went to court, and was told that they could not homeschool their child, because it was harmful to the child's welfare for them to do so. That saddens me, for that family, but it gets worse. The three judges who heard this case then decided to apply their decision to all families that homeschool! The decision requires that all families that homeschool must have a parent that is credentialed to do so! That me... More About: Homeschooling , Attack

Having Visions
2008-03-04 18:41:00 The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.--Helen Keller Do you like to day dream? Me too! I've always been a day dreamer. Ok, I've always been a dreamer, period. One of my favorite day dreams, until a few years ago, was what I would do if I won the lottery. Though I don't play the lottery anymore, there are times when I find myself continuing to day dream, and I have found, more often than not, that when I day dream, I am dreaming about something I don't have. Sad, huh? But I don't think that's what Helen Keller was talking about. We can have day dreams, there's nothing wrong with it, in principal, it's what you're dreaming about that you need to evaluate. For instance, in today's Christian culture, we find many televangelists talking about visualizing good health, more wealth, and prosperity. I have issue with that. I don't think it's wrong to want better health, to have better financial means, or to want to be prosperous, so long as the reason... More About: Vision , Visions

coram Deo
2008-02-28 22:41:00 Yes, that title is in Latin. No, I haven't gone and learned Latin on you. However, I did learn what this means recently. Would you like to know? It means essentially living in the face of God . Ok, what does that mean, you ask? It means living out our lives, each day, as though we are right in front of God's face.A Christ follower should already be doing this, but how often have you actually stopped to think about this? Are you living your life as though God is watching your every move, your every step, and your every action? He is, you know. What does He see?Because I am a sinner, I know that there are some things God sees in my life, that I'm sure He does NOT want to see. Though I do live my life each day, trying not to do these things. What kinds of things does God see in your life, that you think He wouldn't want to see?For me, these are just a few of the things that I am aware of, that I know He doesn't want to see. Sometimes, I am selfish. I think I deserve more than I'm ...
ARGGGHHH! I Did It Again!!!
2008-02-27 22:08:00 A few days ago, I wrote a post that was not intended to be a debate in any form. It was only intended to share information, and to maybe get people to ask questions too, in the hopes that they would look to God for the answers. Unfortunately, I slipped again, and in engaging a person in the comments, I ended up "casting pearls before swine." Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Matthew 7:6 KJVIn my zeal to share my love of God, and defend my faith, I find that I do this much more often than I would like. And, for that matter, much more often than God would like. I guess I still have a long way to go in this matter. So I will be meditating on these Scriptures for awhile, and praying before I respond for even longer. :) He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked [man getteth] himself a blot.Proverbs 9:7 KJVReprove not a sc...
Only By Prayer and Fasting
2008-02-26 20:24:00 So He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting." Mark 9:29 NKJV This verse is the response of Jesus Christ, when he was asked by His disciples, why they were not able to cast out the demon that posessed the mute boy that also had seizures, as a result of this demon. Nine of Jesus' disciples were left behind, while Jesus, Peter, James and John were on the mountaintop. When the multitude came upon them, while Jesus was away, they were unable to cast out his demon. After He had done so, they were confused about why they were unable to cast it out, as He had given them the power to do so. Here Jesus explains that only through prayer and fasting can "this kind" be cast out. Now, lest you think that "this kind" is referring to the demon, I want to be sure to inform you, that this is not the case. Though, surely, prayer and fasting may be necessary in order to cast out demons, Jesus here is talking about the disciples' lack of faith. The reason that th... More About: Prayer , Fasting
Why It Matters (More Than You Realize)
2008-02-22 23:53:00 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:2 NKJVWhy what matters???? Well your attitude, or better yet, my attitude, of course. I've been out reading a bit the last couple days, and it seems that over and over again, I've been hit with the realization that my attitude has not been the best it could be, and I can change it. And more importantly, that I should. There have been a myriad of things that have occurred that I have allowed to cloud my rosy outlook and to dim my light as it were. The Light that only God provides to us. You see, by showing crummy attitudes, even to only those that are closest to us, we are being crummy lights to the recipients of our demeanor."For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Just The Facts On Evolution
2008-02-21 17:51:00 So you say you don't believe in creationism. You only believe in evolution. You believe that Darwin 's theory of evolution is the only plausible way that life could have been formed. I can understand that. After all, it's what you've always been taught. However, I'd like to challenge you to answer these questions, and let me know if you have the answers, and if not, perhaps you can give me the answer that does work. (I'm sure that I already know the answer, but I want to invite you to find it for yourself.) I welcome you to try to prove me wrong. So here are just the facts:If natural selection only works on the available variations of an organism, then how does an organism go from nothing to something? Darwin stated himself, in his book "The Origin of Species" that if natural selection does not work, as the basis of life, then his entire theory would have to be trashed. If information is needed for proteins and amino acids to group together into a cell, then where did the inform... Appointed Ambassador
2008-02-08 18:04:00 Ambassador: 1. dimplomatic representative; a diplomatic official of the highest rank sent by one country as its long-term representative to another 2. official representative; an official representative of an organization or movement 3. unofficial representative; somebody or something regarded as an unofficial representative or a symbol of something (definition taken from the Encarta Dictionary: English)Did you know that you are an ambassador? That all Christians are ambassadors? Now I don't mean in the diplomatic sense, though I suppose it's possible to be one in that way as well. What I mean is in the official and unofficial sense. We are representatives of Christ.and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Hmmm.....Tagged Again
2008-02-04 18:12:00 Well it seems I've been tagged again, by my blogging/ cyber friend Robyn over at Overflowing Grace. This time I've been tagged for 6 random facts that are unimportant/ quirky or something else you don't already know about me. This is going to be difficult, I think, since I talk about myself so much, that I don't know if I can come up with six new ones. But I'm going to try. Here are the rules:The rules for this meme are: (1) Link to the person that tagged you. (2) Post the rules on your blog. (3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. (4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. (5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.Ok, here goes:1. I don't like children. Well, actually, I don't like the way most parents raise their children nowadays (is that really a word?). So I'm very selective of the children I allow at my house. I love my children, and I even like my children, but... More About: Tagged
Jars of Clay
2008-02-02 19:01:00 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? Romans 9:21 NKJVDid you know that we are like jars of clay? That God has made us each, one for honor and another for dishonor? It's true. There are some jars of clay used in ancient times that were used to house valuable scrolls, and others that were used for human waste. The jar was not what was of value. The contents were the thing of importance (or non-importance, as the case may be), always. So it is with us. It is not our outward appearances that hold value; or the things that we own, or the things that we can do. It is what is inside of us. Our love and hope in the Lord. The Holy Spirit inside of us that gives us our value as Christ followers. What then should we do with this knowledge? As we know this, we should always seek the Holy Spirit's guidance, in everything we do, so that we can always have valuable contents. It is what we do with the tale... More About: Clay , Jars
Always Be Ready...
2008-01-31 19:41:00 But sanctify the Lord God* in your hearts, and always [be] ready to [give] a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 2 Peter 3:15 NKJVI was listening to a radio program the other day, and was struck anew, as to how one could always be ready to give a defense to anyone that asks for the reason for our hope in the Lord.In this radio program, the speaker asked the person "Would you like to have love in your life?" Of course, the answer was yes. He then asked, "What about joy?" Again the answer was yes. "What about peace?" Again the answer was yes. "What about patience?" And wouldn't you know it, the answer was yes. "What about kindness, goodness and faithfulness?" Again the answer was yes. And finally, "What about gentleness and self control?" The answer was still yes.My friends, what was just asked of this person are all the fruits of the Spirit. If we want these things in our lives, then God must be in it. As soon as ... Eyeglasses for $8???
2008-01-30 18:52:00 Having worn contacts lately, and the not so funny consequences of doing so, I have been wishing for the chance to get my glasses again. While looking over the opportunities available to me through PayPerPost , I found this site Zenni Optical: Sell Rx Glasses $8 with case! I couldn't believe it! $8 for prescription glasses? Mine cost me $450 through my optometrist! (Which is why I don't have them.) But it's true. Paying the Consequences
2008-01-30 18:03:00 As a parent, it has been my goal to teach my children to take responsibility for their own actions, and to pay the consequences of their bad behavior. I also frown upon them trying to weasel out of their punishment. The punishment is designed to teach them a lesson about the behavior that they shouldn't have done in the first place, regardless of what the reason was for their behavior. Now, I find myself in a situation that requires me to pay the consequences of something I shouldn't have done to begin with. On my way home from Oregon in December, in my eagerness and haste to be home, after 9 1/2 hours of driving with four children, I was caught speeding. I was travelling 80 miles per hour in a 65 zone. The fact that I was eager to be home, was not a good enough reason to be endangering other's or my own life, with my speed. So, I have a fine to pay. I can ease the consequences of my actions by taking traffic school, which will keep the ticket off my driving record, but I still ha... More About: Consequences
PayPer Post...Again
2008-01-29 16:50:00 Well, finally, I've been approved as a PayPer Post postie, as a means to drive traffic for advertisers and PayPer Post. I tried this once before, and was rejected, but I guess they like me now. Therefore, I'm going to attempt to make some money from these people. PayPer Post is a site that allows you to post for various advertisers, and you get to decide who and what you post about. Have you heard of this site? Though the approval process sometimes takes awhile, and for me, it hasn't been easy to get approved, I'm excited about the prospect. The requirements are actually simple, now that I know what they are. Your blog must be at least 90 days old, you must post to it regularly, it cannot have offensive material and you cannot use other website's content (this is what initially got me refused, apparently, though I still don't know what content they were referring to.) Would you like to try it? Come on, click the link and let's both make some money! You need not comp...
A Book Review- Sentinel City of Destiny
2008-01-28 19:57:00 I was asked to read a book recently, and to write a review of it. The title of the book is "Sentinel, City of Destiny " and is written by Landel Bilbrey. You can find the book here, if you are interested in reading it, or purchasing it for someone you know. Bridgemaker Book sThis story is a fantasy allegory about two young boys who take on the adventure of a lifetime, of better yet, the adventure that means their eternal life. It is about two twin boys and their journey to manhood. A manhood in the true Biblical sense. It is filled with Scripture references in the form of "Logos". I find this interesting, in that "logos" is the Greek word for "God's plan and purpose". This book is written in the form of knights and medieval type worlds, with fantasy and reality intertwined. Much like the Chronicles of Narnia, and even some close resemblances to "Lord of the Rings." Without giving away the storyline too much, I would highly recommend this book to any family that has young ones, especi... More About: Book Review , Review
Blogging for the Joy of It.

However, he posted a REALLY cute video of me and the kids dancing in the bathroom. I'm not the cute one, the kids are, but it's very funny. So check it out. Odie, Pease! Mom
2008-01-16 18:20:00 Translation: Hold me, please, Mom. What is it that a child does when they want to be held? They hold their arms up high! It is the universal baby language of "Hold Me." In the same way, when we are downtrodden and weary, we hold out our arms to the One True Father of us all, to "Hold Us." I highly recommend that you try this, even when you are not downtrodden and weary. And try thinking of it in the same terms: "Hold me, Father." In your daily time with the Lord (which I pray each of you has) lift up your arms in worship of Him, and just know the love of His arms lifting you up, and holding you. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 NKJVBlessings to you all! There is no "MORE" to this post. Subscribe in a reader

What Is A Proverbs 31 Woman Wannabe?
2008-01-11 22:19:00 This post is for Ryan (the atheist) and for anyone else that wants to know exactly what I mean when I say I am a "Proverbs 31 Woman Wannabe".First, I must share with you what Proverbs 31 says about this kind of woman: Virtuousness:Pro 31:10 Who can find a virtuous wife? All In A Name
2008-01-07 22:29:00 As some of you know, back in August of this past year, I engaged in an online ordination program, with the express purpose of illustrating just how easy it is to claim the title "minister", "pastor", or "evangelist". Also, to show just how little actual knowledge a person must have of theology to claim these same titles. One does not have to go through any kind of schooling to claim ANY of these titles (though there are many that do.) Since then, I have been burdened to learn of many false teachings of some that would claim one or all of these. So what does the Bible say about being a minister? If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. 1 Timothy 4:6 NKJVLet's define "minister" according to Scripture: Nave's Topical Bible defines a minister as "A Sacred Teacher". Scripture defines it with the following verses: Ambassadors of Christ 2 Corinthia...
It's a New Year, Beloved
2008-01-04 22:56:00 I have been enjoying my family time, for the last week or so, but I have also been in prayer to my Heavenly Father. I seem to have forgotten that my name is Beloved . That by claiming that name, I have a responsibility and an honor to uphold it. So in this New Year , I have been listening to one of my favorite artists. His name is Jon Shabaglian. He is a local artist, so unless you go to this site, and buy his CD, you're not likely to find it in any stores. Two of my favorites are "Have You Encountered" and "Wake Up" off his "Stay Near" CD. The first few verses of "Have You Encountered" are as follows: Hey bro, can I have your earI've got somethin' hereThat's heavy up inside of meI see you wanderin' aroundWithout much purposeso I'm wondering if you've everHad the priveledgeTo meet a special friend of mineAs for me: since we first metThings have been different. Now I don't know where you standBut as for Him He's offering His handSo I gotta ask...Have you encountered my G... My Christmas Pics and Memories
2007-12-26 21:16:00 One of the things I like most about Christmas is being with family. It's taken me awhile to learn the true meaning of Christmas, and I am so thankful to God that He is the true meaning of Christmas. Having said that, I will say that being with my family and just enjoying each other's company is one of my favorite things. Even when they do things like this:My wonderful, gorgeous husband hates to have his picture taken. But sometimes, sometimes I'm able to get him to actually let me take one. We have very few of us together, as it's usually one of us that is taking the picture. So yesterday, for Christmas, he got me a new digital camera that actually takes pictures that aren't grainy, no matter the lighting, and I asked him to sit still long enough for me to take the picture. This is what I got.But then, I pulled my trump card. Every year, I ask for the same thing: to get family pictures of us taken and/or to get pictures of the two of us taken. It has not happened yet. ... More About: Memories
An Article by Ben Stein
More articles from this author:2007-12-23 02:56:00 The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary. My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees. It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away. I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians... More About: Article , Ben Stein 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
