Jars of Clay
2008-02-02 19:01:00
Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? Romans 9:21 NKJVDid you know that we are like jars of clay? That God has made us each, one for honor and another for dishonor? It's true. There are some jars of clay used in ancient times that were used to house valuable scrolls, and others that were used for human waste. The jar was not what was of value. The contents were the thing of importance (or non-importance, as the case may be), always. So it is with us. It is not our outward appearances that hold value; or the things that we own, or the things that we can do. It is what is inside of us. Our love and hope in the Lord. The Holy Spirit inside of us that gives us our value as Christ followers. What then should we do with this knowledge? As we know this, we should always seek the Holy Spirit's guidance, in everything we do, so that we can always have valuable contents. It is what we do with the tale...

Always Be Ready...
2008-01-31 19:41:00
But sanctify the Lord God* in your hearts, and always [be] ready to [give] a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 2 Peter 3:15 NKJVI was listening to a radio program the other day, and was struck anew, as to how one could always be ready to give a defense to anyone that asks for the reason for our hope in the Lord.In this radio program, the speaker asked the person "Would you like to have love in your life?" Of course, the answer was yes. He then asked, "What about joy?" Again the answer was yes. "What about peace?" Again the answer was yes. "What about patience?" And wouldn't you know it, the answer was yes. "What about kindness, goodness and faithfulness?" Again the answer was yes. And finally, "What about gentleness and self control?" The answer was still yes.My friends, what was just asked of this person are all the fruits of the Spirit. If we want these things in our lives, then God must be in it. As soon as ...

Eyeglasses for $8???
2008-01-30 18:52:00
Having worn contacts lately, and the not so funny consequences of doing so, I have been wishing for the chance to get my glasses again. While looking over the opportunities available to me through PayPerPost , I found this site Zenni Optical: Sell Rx Glasses $8 with case! I couldn't believe it! $8 for prescription glasses? Mine cost me $450 through my optometrist! (Which is why I don't have them.) But it's true. Here are some of the examples of the different styles they provide to those that want to take advantage of their deals. I'll certainly be checking this out. There is no "MORE" to this post. Paying the Consequences
2008-01-30 18:03:00
As a parent, it has been my goal to teach my children to take responsibility for their own actions, and to pay the consequences of their bad behavior. I also frown upon them trying to weasel out of their punishment. The punishment is designed to teach them a lesson about the behavior that they shouldn't have done in the first place, regardless of what the reason was for their behavior. Now, I find myself in a situation that requires me to pay the consequences of something I shouldn't have done to begin with. On my way home from Oregon in December, in my eagerness and haste to be home, after 9 1/2 hours of driving with four children, I was caught speeding. I was travelling 80 miles per hour in a 65 zone. The fact that I was eager to be home, was not a good enough reason to be endangering other's or my own life, with my speed. So, I have a fine to pay. I can ease the consequences of my actions by taking traffic school, which will keep the ticket off my driving record, but I still ha...

PayPer Post...Again
2008-01-29 16:50:00
Well, finally, I've been approved as a PayPer Post postie, as a means to drive traffic for advertisers and PayPer Post. I tried this once before, and was rejected, but I guess they like me now. Therefore, I'm going to attempt to make some money from these people. PayPer Post is a site that allows you to post for various advertisers, and you get to decide who and what you post about. Have you heard of this site? Though the approval process sometimes takes awhile, and for me, it hasn't been easy to get approved, I'm excited about the prospect. The requirements are actually simple, now that I know what they are. Your blog must be at least 90 days old, you must post to it regularly, it cannot have offensive material and you cannot use other website's content (this is what initially got me refused, apparently, though I still don't know what content they were referring to.) Would you like to try it? Come on, click the link and let's both make some money! You need not comp...
A Book Review- Sentinel City of Destiny
2008-01-28 19:57:00
I was asked to read a book recently, and to write a review of it. The title of the book is "Sentinel, City of Destiny " and is written by Landel Bilbrey. You can find the book here, if you are interested in reading it, or purchasing it for someone you know. Bridgemaker Book sThis story is a fantasy allegory about two young boys who take on the adventure of a lifetime, of better yet, the adventure that means their eternal life. It is about two twin boys and their journey to manhood. A manhood in the true Biblical sense. It is filled with Scripture references in the form of "Logos". I find this interesting, in that "logos" is the Greek word for "God's plan and purpose". This book is written in the form of knights and medieval type worlds, with fantasy and reality intertwined. Much like the Chronicles of Narnia, and even some close resemblances to "Lord of the Rings." Without giving away the storyline too much, I would highly recommend this book to any family that has young ones, especi...

Blogging for the Joy of It.
2008-01-24 19:39:00
My hubby has started a blog again. This time, it's strictly to bring a smile to his and anyone else's face that happens across it. He probably doesn't care if I promote it, since he has no definitive plans for how often he'll post. He will do it as he finds and/ or thinks of funny things to post. However, he posted a REALLY cute video of me and the kids dancing in the bathroom. I'm not the cute one, the kids are, but it's very funny. So check it out. Here's the link to the video: Funny Dancing Blessings to you all! Subscribe in a reader

Odie, Pease! Mom
2008-01-16 18:20:00
Translation: Hold me, please, Mom. What is it that a child does when they want to be held? They hold their arms up high! It is the universal baby language of "Hold Me." In the same way, when we are downtrodden and weary, we hold out our arms to the One True Father of us all, to "Hold Us." I highly recommend that you try this, even when you are not downtrodden and weary. And try thinking of it in the same terms: "Hold me, Father." In your daily time with the Lord (which I pray each of you has) lift up your arms in worship of Him, and just know the love of His arms lifting you up, and holding you. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 NKJVBlessings to you all! There is no "MORE" to this post. Subscribe in a reader

What Is A Proverbs 31 Woman Wannabe?
2008-01-11 22:19:00
This post is for Ryan (the atheist) and for anyone else that wants to know exactly what I mean when I say I am a "Proverbs 31 Woman Wannabe".First, I must share with you what Proverbs 31 says about this kind of woman: Virtuousness:Pro 31:10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. Pro 31:11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. Pro 31:12 She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.Industriousness:Pro 31:13 She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands. Pro 31:18 She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night. Pro 31:19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle. Pro 31:16 She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard.Pro 31:24 She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants.Homemaker:Pro 31:14 She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar. If Your Eye...
2008-01-09 17:10:00
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire. Matthew 18:9 NKJVWednesday EveningHusband: How was your day?Wife: Good, but I have a headache. I need to put my contacts back in. Would you please do it for me?(Giving her a look)Husband: When are you going to learn how to do it yourself?Wife: I know how to do it, but you do it faster, and my eyes don't get all irritated. Besides that, with these fingernails, I can't do it.Husband: Don't blame it on the fingernails. You couldn't do it before, either.Wife: Yes, I could. Now would you quit giving me a hard time, and just put them in for me, please?(They go into the bathroom and he puts them in.)(A couple hours later)Wife: Babe, this right contact is really bothering me. I can't stand it any longer. Would you take it back out? I'll just leave the left one in, and I can put the right one back in tomorr...

All In A Name
2008-01-07 22:29:00
As some of you know, back in August of this past year, I engaged in an online ordination program, with the express purpose of illustrating just how easy it is to claim the title "minister", "pastor", or "evangelist". Also, to show just how little actual knowledge a person must have of theology to claim these same titles. One does not have to go through any kind of schooling to claim ANY of these titles (though there are many that do.) Since then, I have been burdened to learn of many false teachings of some that would claim one or all of these. So what does the Bible say about being a minister? If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. 1 Timothy 4:6 NKJVLet's define "minister" according to Scripture: Nave's Topical Bible defines a minister as "A Sacred Teacher". Scripture defines it with the following verses: Ambassadors of Christ 2 Corinthia...
It's a New Year, Beloved
2008-01-04 22:56:00
I have been enjoying my family time, for the last week or so, but I have also been in prayer to my Heavenly Father. I seem to have forgotten that my name is Beloved . That by claiming that name, I have a responsibility and an honor to uphold it. So in this New Year , I have been listening to one of my favorite artists. His name is Jon Shabaglian. He is a local artist, so unless you go to this site, and buy his CD, you're not likely to find it in any stores. Two of my favorites are "Have You Encountered" and "Wake Up" off his "Stay Near" CD. The first few verses of "Have You Encountered" are as follows: Hey bro, can I have your earI've got somethin' hereThat's heavy up inside of meI see you wanderin' aroundWithout much purposeso I'm wondering if you've everHad the priveledgeTo meet a special friend of mineAs for me: since we first metThings have been different. Now I don't know where you standBut as for Him He's offering His handSo I gotta ask...Have you encountered my G...

My Christmas Pics and Memories
2007-12-26 21:16:00
One of the things I like most about Christmas is being with family. It's taken me awhile to learn the true meaning of Christmas, and I am so thankful to God that He is the true meaning of Christmas. Having said that, I will say that being with my family and just enjoying each other's company is one of my favorite things. Even when they do things like this:My wonderful, gorgeous husband hates to have his picture taken. But sometimes, sometimes I'm able to get him to actually let me take one. We have very few of us together, as it's usually one of us that is taking the picture. So yesterday, for Christmas, he got me a new digital camera that actually takes pictures that aren't grainy, no matter the lighting, and I asked him to sit still long enough for me to take the picture. This is what I got.But then, I pulled my trump card. Every year, I ask for the same thing: to get family pictures of us taken and/or to get pictures of the two of us taken. It has not happened yet. ...

An Article by Ben Stein
2007-12-23 02:56:00
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary. My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees. It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away. I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians...

To The "Invisible" Moms
2007-12-21 17:36:00
I received this in an email today, and I just wanted to share it with all you other moms out there. It is a moving story of one invisible mom, and it applies to us all. Blessings to all of you!It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the store.Inside I'm thinking, 'Can't you see I'm on the phone?' Obviously not; no one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all. I'm invisible. The invisible Mom.Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this? Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a clock to ask, 'What time is it?' I'm a satellite guide to answer, 'What number is the Disney Channel?' I'm a car to order, 'Right around 5:30, please.'I was certain that these were the h...

Separation of Church and State
2007-12-20 23:57:00
I was watching a program recently that really opened my eyes. Now, I love history, but it's been awhile since I actually studied the Constitution of the United State s, or it's Amendments. What I learned during the program told me alot that I didn't know. This is the full text of the First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.? The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution Did you notice that there is nothing even related to the phrase "Separation of Church and State"? Did you notice that the First Amendment actually states that Congress will make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion? Or the right for others to peacably assemble (even in a religious setting)? So where did that term come from? It actually came from Thomas J...

Confessions of a Cheater
2007-12-19 17:05:00
Hello again, Dear Reader! I am so happy to be back here today, to tell you that I am going to be cheating! That's right, I'm going to "cheat" and I'm perfectly happy about it. Ok, I'm not really cheating per se, but I am doing things a little differently.I wrote to you the other day that I would be homeschooling my children, and that was the reason that I would not be able to post for awhile. Well, the homeschooling will not start until the third week in January. So, I have some time to continue to post, at least some of the time. Unfortunately though, I am sick again. (Perhaps, I just wasn't fully recovered from my last sickness, but I'm doing alright- I have bronchitis.)So how am I cheating you ask? Well it turns out that the idea of finding a curriculum for my children all by myself that wouldn't cost anything, and still adhered to the standards required by California, was extremely daunting for me, to say the least. So we have decided to enroll our oldest first i...

Good News and Bad News
2007-12-17 19:31:00
Hello My Dear Readers. As you know, I have been sick for a couple days. I am feeling much better now. That is one piece of good news. The second piece of good news is that my husband has grudgingly allowed me to begin home schooling our children. Now for the bad news. Because I will be dedicating most of my home time to teaching my children, for the time being at least, I will not be posting on this blog. This was a concession I made with my husband in order that I could assure my husband that the day would be dedicated to instruction. This is not a completely happy choice for me, but I know that my first responsibility is to minister to my family. I have really enjoyed ministering to others, but my family and my children must take precedence.I will miss you all, and hope that at some point I will find the time to be able to continue to write for this ministry. I do ask for your prayers in this new and a little bit frightening adventure. I also ask that if there are any o...

Attending the Masquerade
2007-12-12 17:55:00
There is a masquerade ball occurring around the world, in these times, and we've all been invited. However, I for one will not be attending. You see, I believe in the words of Jesus: 'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment."And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." Mark 12:30-31 NKJVThere are those that would have you believe that Christianity is about hate, and God's wrath, but it is NOT! Certainly, God's wrath will be poured out, but God did not call any of us to pour it out for Him.I was asked recently about my opinion of the views and actions fo a certain "church", and I have to say that I am sickened and broken hearted over what they teach to their congregants. Westboro Baptist Church is wholly a cult of hate! Despite the term "baptist" in their name, they are not ...

The Son (Author Unknown)
2007-12-12 03:34:00
I received this in an email today. I don't know who the original author is, but I was so moved I had to share it with you all. If you've read it before, I beg your forgiveness. Blessings to you all!"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 NKJV The SON A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art. When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son. About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands. He said, "Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom you...

She's not so little anymore, as you can see from the picture below (the last one- she's the one with entirely too much leg showing- but we were at the beach, so I guess it's acceptable.) She was born at 3:40 in the morning on December 11th. So tomorrow, she will be 15 years old! I love you sweetie, and I'm so proud of the little lady you've become! It's no longer just you and I against the world, but you will always have the distinction of being the first to make me want to be so much more than I am. ...

Mary Had A Little Lamb
2007-12-10 18:20:00
If you have children, know a child, or were once a child, you've probably heard this nursery rhyme, but in case you haven't, here are the words:Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb.Mary had a little lamb,Its fleece was white as snow. Everywhere that Mary went,Mary went,Mary went.Everywhere that Mary went,The lamb was sure to go. It followed her to school one day, school one day, school one day.It followed her to school one day,Which was against the rules. It made the children laugh and play, laugh and play, laugh and play.It made the children laugh and play,To see a lamb at school. Now that I've given you the words, you may be wondering what would possess me to write about a nursery rhyme. Well, I'll tell you.I was looking at a Nativity Scene the other day, and I was looking at the Mary figurine and the lambs that always seem to be a part of such scenes, and it came to me that the lambs that are part of the scene should not be, but the baby in the manger, is certainly The...

The Reason for the Season???
2007-12-07 17:38:00
Now there are a few different views on the reason for this season. Some are seen as Holy Days, and others are seen as a means of remembering culture and virtues. The Jews celebrate Hanukkah, as a remembrance of the re-dedication of the Temple to the Lord, after the Maccabean revolt in 165 BC. Christ ians view this time of year as a time to remember the birth of our Lord. Now, before I write anything further, let me say that my family and I do celebrate Christmas , and we do celebrate as a reason to remember Christ's birth. However, my husband said something the other night that really stuck with me. He said, "I wonder why so many Christians insist on celebrating the birth of Jesus on December 25th" And he has a point. For one, nowhere in the Bible does it state that Jesus was born in December. For two, nowhere does the Bible instruct us to even commemorate His birth in any way.The closest details we have about the timing of His Glorious birth is in Luke 2:8, in which it is s...

Communication Breakdown
2007-12-06 19:21:00
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know that my husband and I are blessed with a very strong marriage, especially when you consider that it is a second marriage for both of us. We have already beaten the odds of us divorcing, based on statistics. However, even with a strong marriage, there are times when even we have a communication breakdown. One such occurence happened recently. Not too long ago I wrote about "being on Mission" and perhaps adopting a child. I also asked that you join me in prayer, so that the Lord would put this on my husband's heart, if this was from Him. As it turns out, I found out last night, that it has been on my husband's heart, for awhile now. He has been carrying around a business card, in his wallet, of an adoption attorney! As soon as we knew we were going to miscarry our last child, he was speaking about it in one of his bible studies, and one of his study partner's wives is the attorney. My husband and I realized last night, that so...

Awards and Memes To Catch Up On
2007-12-04 21:42:00
While I was away, I was tagged, and awarded a few times, so I'm going to attempt to get caught up. I'll start with the award. I was awarded The Lift Him Up Award by Carol over at The Bible Thumper's Soapbox, and I thank her for it. Normally, I would pass it on, but since I have so much to catch up on, and I've tagged most all the other bloggers I know in one way or another lately, I'm going to pass on the passing it along. I hope you understand. Here is a picture of the award. Thank you so much Carol, I am humbled, by your award, especially since despite the fact that I often write about myself, I do desire above all to "Lift Him Up."Now for the memes:Seven of '07Dan King at BibleDude and/ or Management by God has started this meme, and I found it very interesting. Being a Meme, it is required that I pass this one along. Christians On Trial
2007-12-03 23:42:00
About a week ago, my husband repeated a question to me that a minister had asked of his congregation. The question was this: "If you were arrested today, and the charges against you were that you were a Christian, would the prosecutor have enough evidence against you to convict you?" I must say, this question had me thinking. Obviously, in this country is not actually a crime to be a Christian, but if it were.....Now I am by no means a legal expert, but I do know that here in the US, for a murder charge, there must be "proof beyond a reasonable doubt". Assuming that the same is true for all "crimes" would there be enough to convict you?Is there evidence of your "crime"?Do you have a bible in your home, and do you read it often? Do you fellowship with other believers? Or do you only maybe have a bible sitting on a shelf somewhere, and call yourself a Christian? Do you spend time in prayer each day?Have you confessed to the "crime"?Have you confessed to God your sin and your acceptanc...
