The Importance of going to Church
2008-01-24 00:09:00
As Christians, we understand that it is not membership, or church attendance that saves you. However, it is important to attend a Bible believing church. Some have decided that they do not need to go to a church because it is not commanded and it is not what saves you anyway. I must admit that I used the Bible to justify not going to church and while I am not condemned for not going, I did miss out on some potential blessings. Many Christians think of going to church as a chore, or a requirement, but that is not true. The church is a place where people that believe in Jesus can come together and worship God in truth. In the church, the people come together as one and sing praises to the Lord and for that brief moment we are of one mind. Now, I must say that the church is not without some conflicts, or even that is free of hypocrites. The truth of the matter is that there are many hypocrites in the churches, but we do not need to worry about them, because God will weed them out. It is...

My Secret Prayer
2008-01-14 07:50:00
I have been reflecting on my current circumstances and it seems that I have been remiss in remembering a prayer that I had prayed which might serve to explain all that I have been going through lately. It was a simple prayer, which did not involve the normal things, which one might ask for from God, such as a better financial situation, health, or even prosperity, but instead it involved something, which I had never asked for in the past. In fact, my prayer to my Lord and Savior was quite simple and at the time, it seemed pretty innocuous to me, but it sees that it may have been more than I had bargained for. I begged and pleaded with my Lord to give me more faith, wisdom, and knowledge and to help me to be closer to him. I even prayed to the point that I made it clear that even if it meant that I must face persecution, hardship, or trials, it does not matter to me because I only want his will to be done in my life. It seems to me that my prayer is being answer...

A Simple Prayer Request at Christmas 2007 Part 2
2008-01-14 06:38:00
In my previous article entitled A Simple Prayer Request at Christmas 2007, I had requested prayers for my family from everyone that was touched by my plight. I was overwhelmed that so many individuals had offered their sympathy and prayers. There were even a few individuals that offered my family monetary help, but that seemed to go a bit too far and while I deeply appreciate the sentiment, I simply did not feel it would be appropriate to accept it. Prayer was the only thing I wanted and I feel that it is more powerful than anything that could be given. It would seem that I was correct in asking for prayers because they seem to be working in a most remarkable way. I cannot say that things are completely back to normal or even that I can see when they will be, but the peace that me and my family feels is remarkable. Even though this experience is difficult and it seemed as though it was the end of our world, our family has come even closer together and the resilience of my...

A Simple Prayer Request at Christmas 2007
2007-12-15 20:01:00
It has been very difficult to try to put any words down because these days, life is a little stressful for the Poma family. At any other time of the year, it would be just that, but for some reason over the Holidays, it is amplified. It is not as though my family has not known adversity, but it seems that it has all culminated into this one very bad moment. The whole trouble actually began a year and a half ago and has only festered. I was working for a company in Southern California as a service technician. I repaired commercial cooking equipment. I would work on everything that you might find in restaurants, and our biggest and heaviest piece of equipment was the pizza ovens in Pizza Hut. These ovens weigh about 600 pounds each and they are stacked three high, which made their combined weight approximately 1800 pounds. As service technicians, we are expected to service these by ourselves and it does include moving them around. While they are on casters, that...

Confession - I am a Young Earther
2007-12-08 08:58:00
Some may have guessed as much by reading one of my previous articles, “Sixty Seven Million Year Old Dinosaur has Soft Tissue Preserved?” Even though I never came right out and said that, I believe that the Earth is about 6 to 8 thousand years old, although I lean closer to six; some were able to pick up on what I believe. These were the people that are on the lookout for people like me. They believe that they can make a quick victim of me and my beliefs because the majority of opinion supports something else. I get a kind of get a wry smile across my visage when they start trying to belittle the evidence that is shown to them, and they do not regard it as evidence because they have been brainwashed into believing there is no God. The whole theory of evolution began because Darwin went to the Galapagos Islands and noticed some animals looked like other animals, so it must be that one evolved from the other. A really far-fetched theory, but an understandable one given t...

Huckabee gets Boost in Polls from God
2007-12-08 00:51:00
Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas has found a way to move ahead in the polls, which is sure to bring some controversy. The issue of God is one that draws immediate scrutiny form an ever-growing secular America, but in the primaries, it is an issue, which will move the people to get behind a candidate. Governor Huckabee has surged in the polls recently and it can only be attributed to God. These new poll results come out on the heels of Mitt Romney’s religion speech, which was supposed to put evangelicals at ease about his Mormon beliefs. However, it is a widely held belief among evangelicals that Mormonism is indeed a cult. A Newsweek poll released today shows that Mike Huckabee has surged ahead in the polls to second place behind Rudy Giuliani. This leaves Mitt Romney in third place even after the speech he had given on religious liberty. While Huckabee had been under fire this week for the pardoning of a prisoner which then went on to rape and murder anoth...

Believing that there is a God is not enough
2007-12-06 08:13:00
Whenever I bring God up in a conversation, many people will tell me that they do believe in God. I get the impression that they think that if they believe then that is enough. However, is that the lesson we are taught in the Scriptures, that all that we must do is believe in God? I am convinced that it is not enough to believe in God or that there is a God, but instead we are to believe and trust God. Even in the beginning in the Garden of Eden, the sin was not that Adam and Eve did not believe there is a God. They knew there is a God, but they did not believe him when he said that they would die if they ate of the fruit of the tree. It was in not believing or trusting God that they sinned and were cast out of the Garden. During the Exodus, many of the Hebrews died in the wilderness. Many of the times where the Bible mentioned they died, or suffered was due in large part to not trusting God. On several occasions, the people would murmur against God asking thems...
Sixty Seven Million Year Old Dinosaur has Soft Tissue Preserved?
2007-12-04 01:14:00
Reuter News service is reporting that a prehistoric dinosaur has been unearthed in North Dakota. The dinosaur is known as a Hadrosaur, is fossilized, and has remained intact. It is reported that this particular dinosaur lived on the earth sixty seven million years ago. This of course, begs the question, are we supposed to believe that soft tissue can be preserved for as long as sixty seven million years? The find is even more extraordinary in that the flesh of the dinosaur turned to stone and scientist have the ability to see the texture of its skin as well as the muscular structure of the beast. Now, science tells us that we must believe that the earth has gone through several changes throughout its existence. The earth has gone through ice ages and through times of global warming and all of this has taken place since the time of the dinosaurs. Nevertheless, the tissue of this creature can survive millions of years through all of these changes. However, this i...

The Sleeping Christian
2007-12-01 21:52:00
There was a time in my life where I did not believe that God existed. I had heard the Gospel, but I did not see it as truth, instead I treated it as a ridiculous fable concocted by man in order to enslave those that were brought under its power. I had heard the stories in the Bible, I found them to be flights of fancy, just legends, and fairy tales to entertain those that would hear them. It was a time of darkness in my life with no hope and only despair to keep me company as I only tried to survive through the ordeal of living.I thought of God as a cruel and viscous being that only chose to destroy and punish those that would not obey him. If that were God, then I would never bow to such a cruel being. I put myself above God and I did not know the truth because I was in darkness, though I did not know it yet. As quickly as God came into my knowledge, I pushed him aside and believed instead what the world had to say. I believed that there was no miracle to life, and that all of exis...

Does Art that Mocks Faith Slanderous or Freedom?
2007-11-28 08:46:00
There have been many examples of artist creating works of what they considered to be art that actually demean and in many cases blasphemes God. Of course, it is their attempt to push the envelope and create a greater shock value in order to get recognition for their work. Not too long ago there was an artist who placed a cross in a bottle of urine and it was considered art. Of course, even if I were not a Christian, I would not consider that art at all. Now, do I get offended at certain sayings espoused against the God that I worship? Yes, indeed I do, but I am not offended for my sake but I am ashamed of the person offending the Lord. It has that feeling of having your drunken uncle show up at the wrong time and start talking to your prom date. You are sober and you see the Lord and understand that he does see and know all.You are trying to have a moment and Mr. drunken uncle comes in and ruins the moment, but more than that he disrespects the Lord and you cannot help bu...

Romans Chapter 1 - Rewritten
2007-11-18 01:25:00
Identification and AuthorityPaul, a servant of Jesus Christ, who was called to be an Apostle and being separated to the Good News of God, which He had made known through the Prophets in the Holy Scriptures concerning His Son. Who after the manner of the flesh, Jesus Christ our Lord, came through the bloodline of David, (The King of Israel), and was marked as the Son of God in all power, through the Spirit of Sanctification by rising from the dead. Through Jesus, we received Grace and Apostleship for the obedience of Faith from out of all of the people through His name, and from among the people, you are also called to Jesus Christ.GreetingTo everyone in Rome, dearly loved by God, and called to be consecrated, Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. First, I do thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you because your Faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world. The God that I serve, in the Good News of His Son, is my witness that I always mention...

Common Misconceptions of the Christian Hell
2007-11-16 02:01:00
Many people have their own belief as to what Hell is. These beliefs can be influenced by teachings, movies, or even one’s own interpretation of what the Bible has to say about the subject. However, what if we do not really understand what Hell is all about and our misinterpretation of Hell influences whether we believe in God, or we are even contrary to him if in fact we do believe that he exist? Movies and fiction writers have done a very good job of misrepresenting what Hell is really like. Much of the story lines adopted have to do with some eternal struggle between God and Satan, and whoever has the most souls at the end is the winner. Satan is often portrayed as some omnipotent demon beast with horns and he rules the underworld known as Hell, where all of the truly evil people go, are tortured, and in some cases are sent back into the world to do the evil lord’s bidding. When people go to Hell they are tormented with the sheer heat of Hell and Satan’...

How Will God Judge Us?
2007-11-11 00:38:00
The question of how God will judge the people of the earth is littered with more differing opinions than there are religions in the world. The prevalent belief is that God will judge us according to how we lived our lives. It is believed that God will take into account the good things we have done in this life, as long as they outweigh the evil things we have done. Now, I am not going to deceive you into believing that I do not have a bias in this matter because I am a Christian. However, can we determine what will happen to those that do not accept Christ as their Savior? It is explained to Christians by Paul that we are not to judge those that are in the world. Those that are in the world are for God to judge alone. However, we are told that those that do the law, which do not have the law, have the laws of God written in their hearts. The fact of the matter is that God knows the hearts of man and that is how he says that he will judge those in the world. By the way, this also answ...

Pastor John Hagee says Jesus did not come to be Messiah
2007-11-07 22:09:00
Pastor John Hagee, seen on the “Trinity Broadcasting Network,” is under intense fire from fellow Christians for assertions made in his new book entitled, “In Defense of Israel.” The “Fire and Brimstone” preacher claims that his new discoveries will shake the very foundations of Christian theology as understood today. Well, it certainly has shaken some foundations, but not the ones he intended, instead it seems that it is his own ministry may fall victim to his new theology.Pastor Hagee asserts that Jesus did not come the first time as the Messiah . He states that Jesus did not “Claim to be the Messiah in word and deed.” He also claims that if Jesus did not claim to be the Messiah, then Israel could not be held responsible for denying him. Okay, with all of that said, the only thing left to do is check these assertions against the Scriptures themselves. As to the assertion that Jesus did not make any claim to be the Messiah, we will first go to the book of Mathew, where...

Rabbis’ Give President Bush a Warning
2007-11-07 08:33:00
A group of Rabbis have sent a letter to President Bush warning of the wrath of God upon the United States. It is believed by the Rabbis that the United States will suffer disasters sent from God if the “Annapolis Parley” is not canceled. The Annapolis Parley is to include Israel, the United States, the Palestinians, and Hamas leaders, as well as, leaders from other Arabic Nations. The reason for this belief can be found in the book of Joel where it is prophesied the Nations will be brought into the Valley of Jehoshaphat where God will pass judgment on them for dividing the promised land of Israel. The overlying concept behind the conference is to bring all concerned parties to the bargaining table to try and reach some kind of peace accord. The United States has been pressuring Israel into making large concessions to the Palestinian people. However, the whole situation became explosive in the last year due to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, and growing tensions between Syria and...

Are There Really UFOs in the Bible?
2007-11-06 10:06:00
Many men have come forward and claimed that the Bible speaks of many instances of UFOs. However, it does not specifically use the term “Unidentified Flying Object,” but there are some interesting occurrences which when used in conjunction with the UFO phenomenon, does seem to fit together very well. Now, some of these occurrences do not appear to be extra-terrestrial events at all and we must take a closer look at what these authors would have us believe are examples of a UFO events.Firstly, we must define exactly what we are talking about so we do not get mired in semantics. UFO simply defined is an Unidentified Flying Object. This means it is an object in the sky which is unidentified; it does not necessarily mean that it is from another planet. We must remember that many of the men in the Bible described objects in the sky to the best of their ability. They only had their currently known technology to compare them to.We can liken their descriptions to the descriptions used by...

There Were Giants in the Earth in Those Days
2007-11-03 07:24:00
I find the mention of giants in the Bible very interesting. Now, as for me, I believe what the Bible has to say and I believe that certain books in it are written as history and not necessarily for doctrine. However, there are many people which make a big deal out of the issue of giants and try to come up with some extra biblical theories surrounding the events prior to the flood. In the Bible we are told that the Sons of God saw the daughter’s of men and they saw that they were very fair. Then they took wives of them whoever they chose. It also goes on to state that these were the Giants which were the mighty men of renown. Now just to clarify that we are talking about actual giants, we read in the book of Numbers, that when the Hebrews came into the Promised Land, they came across giants known as the “Sons of Anak.” The Israelites make it very clear that these are physical giants, because they said that they were like grasshoppers compared to these people. ...

Places and Events of the Bible Discovered
2007-11-03 05:48:00
Many of us are very interested in the stories and places of the Bible . Even those that do not believe in God perk their ears up when there is a new discovery. Many have attempted to locate the places in the Bible through archeology. It seems that archeology is constantly supporting the stories and events in the Bible, yet very few people take notice, or the research is dismissed out if hand.Ron Wyatt was an archeologist and a student of the Bible that spent a lot of time in the Holy Land. He visited many locations hoping to find proof of the existence of such things as the “Ark of Noah’s Flood,” the route of the “Exodus,” the location of “Sodom and Gomorrah,” and the actual mountain of God, “Mount Sinai.”I can hear it now, if Ron Wyatt discovered all of these things then how come we have not heard about it? Well, to be honest I am not sure why, I suppose it could be information that is suppressed, or perhaps, nobody wants to believe it even when they are presented ...

Great Resource for Christian Kids
2007-10-31 21:50:00
On the Internet, it can be difficult to find safe websites for your children to visit. This holds true even more so if you are a Christian parent, and you are trying to find an alternative for your children that maintains a Christian perspective. I have happened across a great website, which does offer many entertaining things for your children to do and still promotes the Christian beliefs and lifestyle. The website is, “Kids Explorers, Adventures in the Rain Forest.” This site has many activities for children such as online games, bible lessons, Christian apologetics, and even movies, which they can watch online. Everything on the website is free and it does not require any membership. This ensures that your child and your information are safe from online predators and identity thieves. The website is broken down into sections, and they are as follows:* Answers – This section is presented in a question and answer format. The questions range from the scientific to Christian Apo...

The Genealogies of Jesus – Contradictory or Complementary?
2007-10-31 03:12:00
* IntroductionI have heard some people make mention of the fact that Jesus seems to have two genealogies, which are mentioned in two of the books of the Gospels. These individuals declare that the genealogies are different; therefore, there must be a contradiction. As a Christian I really have no issue with this, however, some will grab on to anything which appears to be a contradiction in order to disprove the accuracy of the Bible. Now, apparently I have not made it clear enough that I do not consider myself to be a scholar of any sort, and in matters of the Bible, even I am still learning. Nevertheless, I can read and understand the principles and ideals held within the Bible, and I do welcome the challenges presented to me because it only serves to make me seek out the answers that I have not really considered or, concerned myself with.* Establishing the Genealogy of Jesus through JosephIn the book of Mathew, the writer is establishing a genealogy, which starts at Abraham, and co...
Is God an Old Notion?
2007-10-29 11:38:00
God is the oldest notion, but one that never dies. For the Christian, God was, God is, and God will always be. However, we find that the ideal of Atheism is growing with leaps and bounds. These people not only do not believe in the God of the Bible, but they believe in no gods at all. It seems to me that for these people life is pretty simple because they do not have to worry about their actions, or regard any other person but themselves. They claim to be of a higher intelligence, yet they completely disregard the possibility of the existence of God, which is unscientific at best. Science always leaves room for the improbable, no matter how impossible it may seem.I would have to say that the notion of God has been around for as long as history has been recorded. Although there are many takes on God, and as a matter of fact, in some societies there are many gods. However, it does not mean that the notion of a God is obsolete. God is one of those timeless beings, which will always hav...
Christianity 101 - There is no more law
2007-10-27 01:14:00
This is probably one of the most hotly debated subjects in Christianity . It is sad to have to keep writing on the subject of the law. However, as long as Christian leaders continue to teach their followers that they must follow the law, then there must be those that will set the record straight and strengthen the faith of the elect. As always we must go to the Scriptures to determine the truth, so that we do not teach anyone a false doctrine.First, let us look at why the laws were given and to whom. The laws of God were given to Israel and this includes all twelve tribes. Some of the laws were given before the Exodus, to Abraham in order to establish covenants between the Hebrews and God. Others were given to the Hebrews at the time of the Exodus and were the ideals that would ensure their safety and the longevity of the Hebrew people, as well as setting forth good guidelines by which the people should live.No law was given that did not serve a particular plan of God. These laws are...
Why being an Atheist Makes no Sense
2007-10-25 07:06:00
There are a great many people in the world which categorically claim that there is no God. Often these are the ones that will ridicule people of faith. Their arguments are pretty much the same. These questions include such things as, if there is a God then why do bad things happen to good people? If God made people the way they are, then why would he send them to Hell for doing what he already knows they will do? And of course, the ever popular, if the Bible was written by men inspired by God, then why are there so many contradictions? To the Christian who has bothered to actually study the Bible it is clear as to what the answers to these questions are. It is my belief that these questions are a rouse and are not asked so that the atheist can find out the truth. Instead, it is an attempt to frustrate and silence Christians that may not be clear, or may not be skilled enough to answer such things. The atheist in no way is determined to actually accept your answers no matter how well ...

Has the Name of the Messiah been revealed in this Age?
2007-10-24 07:55:00
I hold the belief that something will happen and the name of the messiah will be discovered. I also believe that when it is revealed, it will be incontrovertible. Although, many will try to deny it and they will even use deceit to try and convince others that it is not true. Nevertheless, those that are chosen will ultimately believe and there are none that can change that, no matter how hard they try. However, while there are many that will believe right away, there are yet others which will need to be shown the way, and the truth. What is the work of a man of God but to try and help a brother or sister to the Lord and a way more perfect? There are very few that will attempt to engage in this endeavor. Many times it may be that they feel they do not know enough, or they do not have the gift of speech, much like Moses. However, this is where we must trust God to do the work through us, and we do not need to fear what we speak when we follow after God and teach others to do the same. ...

The End is coming
2007-10-23 08:00:00
Christians have heard this for quite some time and it seems that this term has been restated throughout the generations. Of course, we know it is true, but we are still left with the question as to when this end will come. For the unbeliever it seems like a warning that has not happened and since it has not, as many have said, then it must not be true. The simple fact of the matter is that the end is close; as a matter of fact it draws closer as each day passes. There have been many Christian leaders that have tried to pinpoint the exact time of the end. However, all of these attempts at telling the time have failed to come to pass. There is a simple reason for that, and that is, that the time is known only by God. We are told by Jesus that no man knows the hour at which he will come, but he will come as a thief in the night. The idea is that if people were to know when the Lord is returning and all things will end, then they would tend to live their lives any way they want and then ...
Kaleeforneia Loses its Mind
2007-10-16 08:56:00
Under a new bill signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California, it is now illegal to discriminate in the public schools against sexual orientation and alternative lifestyles. The Governor signed the controversial bill amid much opposition by Christian and pro-family values groups. Senator Kuehl first introduced SB 777 back in February of 2007. It was anticipated that Schwarzenegger would veto the bill as he had done in the past. His response in the past to vetoing similar bills was that there were already laws on the books against discrimination. However, the Governor signed the legislation passed by the California Senate and the law will come into effect January 1, 2008.Under this law, it would be illegal to discriminate against homosexual, bi-sexual, and transgender teachers, school officials, or students, as if anybody did anyway. Under this law, it is considered discriminatory to say that a mother and a father is a normal family and that all alternative families must be...

If God loves us so much then why do we have to endure so much Suffering?
2007-10-13 08:31:00
This is one of those questions which plague many of our brothers and sisters in their everyday Christian life. There are those that actually believe that if you suffer hardship then there must be something wrong in your Christian walk. That in some way you have un-confessed sin and that the only way to turn things around is to go to God with your sin and beg forgiveness. However I am here to set the record straight. It is not the sin in our lives which causes us to have hardship. This is the thought of Jobs friends, and indeed they were not really friends at all to the man that lost everything even though he did not sin. Sometimes it seems that we suffer needlessly, but I say that God works all things for good to those that love him. From my own personal experience, I can say that I had a very difficult childhood. I never knew my real father and I was abused by a few stepfathers. I was beaten with broomsticks, thrown across rooms and even beaten with one of tho...

Sometimes Things Happen Which does not make Sense
2007-10-12 06:06:00
It seems that in life bad things happen to good people and those people that appear to be wicked often seem to prosper. It hardly seems fair and is quite honestly one reason why some people will not believe in God. It is human nature to try and understand everything we encounter. We are inquisitive by nature and we like our answers rolled up into a neat little package that we can understand. However, this is not always the way things work, and where God is involved, sometimes we simply cannot know the answers to all of our questions. In many instances it is explained to us in the Bible why certain events took place but we simply do not like the answers and we try to interpret the answers to mold them into what we want them to be. In the Old Testament book of Job we find a situation where a man was caused to suffer for apparently no other reason than to test the man. Job suffered so much loss that it is unthinkable how he was able to bear it and not give up his belief in G...

Christianity not seen as desirable according to a new poll
2007-10-11 10:21:00
According to a recent poll the Barna Group has found that many young people these days hold a skeptical view of Christianity . The Barna Group is a marketing research company which assists Christian ministries and non-profit organizations in reaching out to the public. The poll concentrated on non-Christians between the ages of 16 and 29, and indicates a tragic change in positive attitude towards the Christian leadership.According to the Barna Group it appears that non-Christians have a particularly low opinion of Evangelicals. This strikes me as an oddity because to be an Evangelical means to simply preach the good news. I believe that it is likely that there is a broader definition of the term Evangelical which does not necessarily define one certain portion of Christian doctrine. The term Evangelical could quite possibly be referring to Christians which seem to be hypocritical. With all of the negative stories in the press about Christian leaders getting caught doing things they sh...

The Effects of Lust in a Christian’s Life
2007-10-07 00:08:00
We are warned in the Bible to abstain from lustful practices. It is said that lust is the gateway to sin. Lust does not only mean that sexual desire, but it means to covet. To want something which is not proper is another form of lust. This applies to many things such as, power and money. It is this lust which causes us to concentrate only on ourselves and dismiss the needs of other people and the things of God. However, the particular type of lust I want to concentrate on here is sexual lust. I chose this topic because it is probably the most difficult form of lust for anyone to overcome. I can say truthfully that I do not really like to speak about this subject, it is uncomfortable and embarrassing. However, I see too many posts in forums and I hear the questions on call-in Christian radio shows. For some reason there is never an answer and the Pastor will generally dismiss the questions as something improper to talk about. I realize this is mostly prevalent among men, o...
