I couldn't imagine living my life turned off to Him.I was reading in Luke 4:14 this morning and the thought hit me once again. If Jesus was full of Holy Spirit's power... then HOW MUCH MORE do we need His power in our lives?!?I mean hello.We need You Holy Spirit. I need You!After Luke proclaims this about Jesus' life, he tells us how Jesus just stood up and gave the "what-for" when He read a part of Isaiah at the synagogue..."The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for He has appointed me to preach the Good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors, and that the time of the LORD's favor has come!" - Luke 4:18I love that passage.And Jesus was able to "do" all of those things because "the Spirit of the LORD is upon Me".Come Holy Spirit!

Mind Games
2008-03-26 13:21:00 While on our recent trip to Arkansas, I got to briefly visit with a buddy from High School. During our school years we would have religious debates on and off concerning various things including eternal salvation (or commonly referred to as "once saved always saved") and speaking in tongues.Quite a broad spectrum.And to be honest with you... my arguments in h.s. were quite immature and based upon assumptions more so than Scripture and in all fairness, most of his were as well.Well, this last encounter with my friend proved to be a bit more intriguing and a bit more deep than the discussions we had while in high school.He had recently changed some of his personal doctrines and had aligned himself with things such as Double Predestination and/or Hyper-Calvinism.This is definitely some areas where I now WANT to do more study and searching of the Scriptures. 2008-03-25 16:20:00 I can only imagine what the leadership transition was like from Moses to Joshua. Just think what happens today when Pastors transition at churches... but imagine a million people. Wowzers. Talk about pressure!But the amazing thing is... Almighty God assured Joshua that He had his back. Check this:"I promise you what I promised Moses: 'Everywhere you go, you will be on land I have given you...'" Joshua 1:3"No one will be able to stand their ground against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you." Joshua 1:5And then the LORD goes into sounding like a broken record... in Joshua 1:6-9 He states to be strong and courageous three times!Something I find even more exciting is Jesus spoke those same words over His disciples Matthew 28:20: "I am with you always!"Good stuff.His Word makes life's circumstances seem so stinkin' small. 2008-03-21 11:30:00 I can only imagine what that could be like.Moses' relationship with the LORD was so real, so deep that he knew the LORD face to face.Face to face.That's intimate. That's passionate. That's real.It amazes me when I hear people talk of God as if He's so far off. Untouchable. Unapproachable.Actually, it breaks my heart. And I wonder if it breaks His.Seriously, why else were we created but for relationship?Had He wanted beings to simply worship Him for eternity... He could have stuck with the angels. Had He wanted beings to simply "bring Him glory" then He could have settled with the seraphim and cherubim.But He obviously wanted more than that.And I want what I was created for... to know God. Flying is a Love/Hate Situation
2008-03-20 15:15:00 I'm sure this post could just be categorized with thousands of other rants about happenings while flying, but I thought I'd at least get my 2-cents in.Yesterday, we just finished a week trip to Arkansas to visit my family. The flight to Arkansas was great... smooth and seemless. The flight back to Pittsburgh was a whole different story.It started out at the Little Rock National Airport. What I'm about to say has nothing to do with Arkansas... or any type of stereotype... but the LR Airport seriously has to be the dumbest airport I have ever been in. I could practically sum it up in one word: chaos.I won't elaborate on all the details, but part of the chaos was, as we were standing in line for security, the guard seemed to think we all needed a class in safe air travel. He had us all stand in a little corral while he proceeded to explain all of the rules and regulations... then he would open the gate... and let a few of us through... then he did the same thing over again. 2008-03-17 01:15:00 Hopefully there will be a video blog joining the ranks soon. However, I'm having difficulty having only 1 tower of EDGE getting it uploaded. I may have to drive in to town and find a "3G" spot. HA. I've been trying to get it up all afternoon... seriously... but it just won't budge. :|My family lives way out in the middle of no where Arkansas, so DSL hasn't made it out their way yet... and still wondering if it ever will.Today we went to church with my Grandmother and Great-grandmother. They attend a small country Methodist church. It was good to see some "old" faces (pardon the pun). I hung out with my g-ma's a bunch while growing up... so I would attend their church on and off as well. Thankfully there wasn't any cheek-pinching going on. Just simple hugs.Hannah and I found a Starbucks yesterday... 35 miles away.
