I found it interesting...
2008-12-02 19:58:00
I love the supernatural.I love the miraculous... especially when it happens right in front of me.I can only imagine what it would have been like to have walked with Jesus and seen it happen as often as it did with Him.In finishing up my class on the Life of Christ, there was a chapter that I just covered that really stood out to me. I found it interesting, actually. The text book gives 4 purposes for the reason Jesus did the miraculous (backed up with Scripture, of course). Those were:1. They established Jesus' authority and spoke of His deity2. They helped communicate truth3. They demonstrated Jesus' compassion for humanity4. They demonstrated a measure of the believer's inheritance in JesusBUT ultimately, as the book says, all of the miracles Jesus performed pointed back to Him... it made those around Him be drawn to Him. Because it was all about Him.Even then the miraculous was only *PART* of who He was and *PART* of what His total mission was. Something to chew on... I know at ...

Watchmen Nee said this: "Our prayers lay the track down on which God's power can come. Like a mighty locomotive, His power is irresistible, but it cannot reach us without rails."Mmm. That's good.
One thing I love to pray...
2008-06-04 15:06:00
There's a passage in Ephesians that I LOVE to pray over my students and my worship team. Ephesians 3:16-19"I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will give you mighty inner strength through His Holy Spirit. And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God." (emphasis added...)Man, that is good stuff. That's a good synopsis of what I want to see God do in my student's lives.I have a post up my sleeve, maybe for this week some time... concerning extended fasting and working out. Maybe I'll get to it soon.Quote for Today's BLOG:"Persevere in prayer. Persev...

Humility through Identity
2008-06-02 14:26:00
I was reading through John 13 this morning. I've read the passage many times... but something just stuck out at me. I love when that happens... you're reading over a passage that you've read umpteen times and all of a sudden Holy Spirit opens your eyes to something you've never seen.Check this...John 13:2-4 says "It was time for supper, and the devil had already enticed Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to carry out his plan to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had given Him authority over everything and that He had come from God and would return to God. So He got up from the table, took off His robe, wrapped a towel around His waist..." (emphasis added)Then He began to wash His disciples feet.Check out the "so".Jesus knew who He was. He knew He was the Son of God. He knew He was One with God. He knew He had all authority. So...I wonder... was it because Jesus knew fully who He was that He was able to operate in true humility? There was no false-pride going on on Jesus' part...

Whether or not they were on duty...
2008-05-28 16:26:00
I'm so stinkin' tired of a "works" mentality... even in my own life.Sometimes it makes me want to PUKE.I wonder how it makes Jesus feel?I'm so glad that Jesus took care of every debt and payment that needed to be made in order for me to have direct access to the Father.I was just reading in 2 Chronicles where the temple had just been completed by Solomon and they were bringing the Ark into it. I read a line of scripture that just SCREAMED at me... maybe it will scream at you too. ;)2 Chronicles 5:11"Then the priests left the Holy Place. All the priests who were present had purified themselves, whether or not they were on duty that day." (Emphasis added)And guess what happened...?2 Chronicles 5:14"The priests could not continue their work because the glorious presence of the LORD filled the Temple of God."Man oh man oh man.How incredible that moment must have been.Check out their attitudes... verse 10 said that ALL of the priests had purified themselves WHETHER or NOT they were on...

Worship Team on TV
2008-05-25 12:39:00
Our worship team and I had a great time this last Thursday night. We were asked to come and play on a live TV show at Cornerstone TV in Pittsburgh. When we got there, I found out it was the first time they were doing "live" worship for this particular show... so they actually were making a lot of changes while we were on the air... changing things around on the spot. It was intense!Anyways, I'm way proud of our team. They did incredible... especially, since it was the first time for the majority of us to do anything like this. The video is below if you didn't get a chance to see it.Click here if you can't see the video.

The Necessity of Personal Encounter
2008-05-21 13:31:00
The book of John is just tearing me up. God is showing me things that I've never noticed before. It's hecka crazy! In John 4 when Jesus talks to the Samaritan woman at the well... she wigs out and runs and starts rounding up people to come and hear Jesus. I love John 4:30 - "so the people came streaming from the village to see Him."Then check out what the "streaming people" say to the woman who initially told them about Jesus...John 4:39-42 - "Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, "He told me everything I ever did! Then they said to the woman, 'Now we believe because WE have heard Him OURSELVES, not JUST because of what you told us. He is indeed the Savior of the world.'"Think about it.The Samaritan woman had gone back and told her community about Jesus and the things He did in her life, yet that wasn't enough for the people to simply believe... they wanted to experience Jesus themselves! That's why I think encountering God is so stinkin...

Becoming a wrestler
2008-05-19 13:58:00
I think I'm becoming a wrestler... of Scripture that is. :)I'm definitely a thinker.I love to bounce things around in my head. And as I mentioned in a post a week or so ago, John 2 has really gotten me to thinking. This post is really a continuation of that thought, but I took a break from blogging throughout last week so I wasn't able to finish. What started me thinking was how in verse 24, John states that "Jesus didn't trust them [people who were believing He was the Messiah], because He knew what people were really like."In context of the chapter, it seems like that was stated because Jesus didn't seem to trust them because they were believing in Him simply because of the miraculous. But if you take these verses in context with all of John and the way he wrote, then I think it was for another reason Jesus did not trust the people. It's not the miracles faultObviously one could easily take that verse and use it to say "see, we shouldn't be asking for miracles" or "asking Jesu...
