Just wanted everyone to know, I'm taking a few days off from blogging/twittering... probably at least through Friday. "And from the time John the Baptist began preaching until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing..." -Matthew 11:12Be blessed.Chris

I wonder...
2008-05-11 12:21:00
I was reading through John 2 this morning and saw something that has gotten me to thinking. John 2 is where Jesus performs His first miracle, turning water into wine.He then proceeds to tear up the temple because it had been turned into a marketplace. The Jewish leaders of course questioned His authority and demanded a miraculous sign to prove His authority. Jesus tells them their miraculous sign would be to tear down "this" temple (His body) and 3 days later it would be raised. Then verse 24 seems a bid odd...Let's start in verse 23."Because of the miraculous signs He did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many people were convinced that He was indeed the Messiah. But Jesus didn't trust them, because He knew what people were really like" - John 2:23-24Why did He not trust them? That's what got me to thinking. I know it says because of their human nature... but what was it about their human nature that made Him not trust them? Was it because the believed in Him simply because...

Children of the devil
2008-05-09 15:12:00
I love the way Jesus just put things..."For you are children of your father the devil... he has always hated the truth. There is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies." - John 8:44That was definitely not a "seeker-sensitive" approach and it sure seems like He didn't seem how they cared.Jesus really makes you think.Maybe more of us should actually read His Word...Quote for Today's BLOG:"Here, then, is the real problem of our negligence. We fail in our duty to study God's Word not so much because it is difficult to understand, not so much because it is dull and boring, but because it is work. Our problem is not a lack of intelligence or a lack of passion. Our problem is that we are lazy." - R. C. Sproul

Subtraction = Growth!?
2008-05-07 12:30:00
I read a very interesting passage in John 6 that kind of got me thinking. I've read it before, but it never stuck out to me like it did this time.Jesus had just finished addressing the crowds of people concerning He being the Bread of Life. It was a bit controversial in the aspect that He said that "unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you cannot have eternal life within you" (John 6:53).This even sent some of Jesus' disciples in to a bit of confusion... (John 6:60)And eventually..."At this point many of His disciples turned away and deserted Him." - John 6:66Interesting, I think. We think growth is about numbers (and it is to an extent). But it's so much more than that... especially when at times, growth will only happen once there is subtraction.Sounds like pruning to me...I wonder how Jesus felt when men turned their back on Him at that moment? Was He saddened or relieved? Or maybe both?Crazy.Quote for Today's BLOG:"More than once Jesus deliberately ...

John the Baptist Speaks
2008-05-04 13:16:00
I was reading in John 3 yesterday... and part of John the Baptist 's words just stood out to me... and I thought I'd share them this morning with you. Check it out...John 3:31-35He [Jesus] has come from above and is greater than anyone else. I am of the earth, and my understanding is limited to the things of earth, but He has come from heaven. He tells what He has seen and heard, but how few believe what He tells them! Those who believe Him discover that God is true. For He is sent by God. He speaks God's words, for God's Spirit is upon Him without measure or limit. The Father loves His son, and He has given Him authority over everything. These words were spoken by John to his disciples, basically letting them know that it was all about Jesus.I think the most interesting portion of the passage is where John said "God's Spirit is upon Him without measure or limit." Wowzers! What an incredible place to be in.Come Holy Spirit and fill our lives!Quote for Today's BLOG:"Destitute of t...

Inside My Head pt 2: How Far Is Too Far?
2008-04-30 15:17:00
Yesterday, it seems I opened a can of worms for myself. It's really gotten me thinking about things. I love to wrestle with theology within my heart so I know and understand what I believe. If you didn't catch my post yesterday concerning a "true move of God" then be sure you check it out here. With the thoughts concerning a true move of God... it got me wondering about something else...How Far Is Too Far?As I mentioned yesterday, I believe 100% that we as Christians can live and practice everything that the apostles lived and practiced in the New Testament. I do not believe that Holy Spirit has changed one bit, nor do I believe that He has changed the way we should operate as believers. I believe that we should be about expanding the Kingdom of God and that God still works supernaturally in and through our lives. But with that in mind... how far is too far when it comes to experiences? To me it seems that some have gotten enamored with the experience rather than Jesus Himself. Gems....

Inside My Head pt 1: Move of God?
2008-04-29 14:36:00
I started off this week thinking and wondering. If you missed Sunday's post, you should check it out here. And as this week has progressed, thus far, I've actually been thinking quite a bit more about somethings that have been bugging me.I thought I'd put a few posts together of what's going on inside of my head... something that is hardly ever revealed... even to my wife. I may receive some flack for some of these posts, but that's ok. For too long it seems that Christians aren't "allowed" to ask questions and I think that has hurt us more than it has helped us.With that being said, here's a thought swimming around in my head...What does a true "move of God" look like? For those of you who don't know me personally, I come from a Pentecostal-Charismatic background. I believe 100% that what the apostles lived and practiced in their walk with Jesus we can live and practice today as well. With that in mind... I've been pondering... what does a true move of God look like? Or more...

Thoughts on Spiritual Warfare
2008-04-27 21:31:00
As Pastor was preaching this morning concerning being co-heirs with Christ Jesus, he briefly touched the "spiritual warfare" passage in Ephesians. While talking about it, he mentioned a thought that had never crossed my mind.Read the passage and check out the one word (other than God, Spirit, LORD) that is used the most...Ephesians 6:10-18"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the r...
