Study Resources For the Holocaust
2008-05-07 16:17:00
Wow, can you believe it? After several weeks I finally have a new link to share! Two actually! We are preparing to study World War II and the Holocaust so I did a search. I came across this site: Cybrary of the Holocaust. They have an education page with links and lesson plans, HERE.Next, I did a search for a study on Corrie Ten Boom and stumbled upon a free cliff note resource. They have a search engine you can use or you can just look through the alphabetical listing. The site is called Best Notes and the direct link for Corrie Ten Boom's Hiding Place is HERE.For more Weblink Wednesday visit my friend Valerie.

Christian Enviromentalism
2008-05-06 15:12:00
Genesis 1:26-27aThen God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him.Psalm 8-6-8You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.Often times it seems as if the environmentalist and the Christian are at odds with each other. This is a big frustration for many Christians, I know because I have spoken with them. It is not that Christians are anti-environment. On the contrary, if Christians are honest, they will tell you it is our responsibility to care for the creation. We were created to have dominion over creati...
Who's Plan & Who's Glory??
2008-05-05 21:17:00
I have been pondering all day what to share with you. I kept coming back to one thing. I will share a few concluding sentences from our Bible study last night. It gives us something to ponder and brings tremendous blessing when realized and applied in our lives. It is important to remember that the Lord's dealings with His people have had single ultimate purpose. And, the shocker though it may be, man is not the center point of that purpose.God's plan throughout history is not one for the glorification of man, but for the glorification of God. That's why it is so important not to discern what God's plan for your life is; it's to discern what God's plan is, and then align your life with it.Our glorification in the end will be a reflection of His glory being manifested; we will bask in the glow of His glory and thereby be glorified ourselves. Think: If the perfect life on earth is one that reflects Christ's life perfectly, then the perfect glory in eternity must be one th...

Only One Way!
2008-05-04 07:05:00
There has been a lot of of talk lately about the "Church of Oprah." Her statement about how there couldn't possibly be only one way has received much attention. How arrogant a people who would say God has not done enough! Here is the Gospel message presented by one of my favorite teachers of the Word, R.C. Sproul. What a sweet message the Gospel is!
A Quiet Moment
2008-05-02 18:52:00
When my husband and I were newlyweds there were things that we just did not understand. We often poked fun at those old couples who wore the same shirts whenever they went out. We have since learned that when you have been married for several years you begin to think alike more than you realize. There have been several days when I would emerge dressed only to find my hubby already wearing the same t-shirt or the same color shirt! It actually bothers me enough that I go and change. We never plan to wear the same thing, there are just days when it happens. I find it a bit frustrating but mostly humorous.Just like dressing alike there was another thing we have always tended to notice and say it was never going to happen to us because it is such a sad and horrible thing! Have you seen the older couples in the restaurants who sit and eat their dinner and have no more than two words to say to each other? We all have seen them. Most of us probably, if honest, would say that we feel...

A Ripstick & a Concussion
2008-05-01 16:07:00
Today is another combined post. For more participants visit Thankful Thursday or Thursday Thirteen.Earlier this week when hubby and I were out and our older girls were babysitting our ten year old feel off of a ripstick. She was not wearing a helmet. She hit her head hard enough that she was unconscious. She lost her sight. She was answering questions posed to her but not remembering 2 minutes later that we asked her anything. She was also nauseous. We headed to the ER. She vomited a few times and then her sight returned. Two cat scans, an x-ray, and a lot of waiting time later we returned home. She has a severe concussion. She still has symptoms and can continue to for up to a month. She now knows she must always wear a helmet! I am so thankful for God's protecting hand over my children.

More Than We Can Handle
2008-04-29 15:40:00
I Corinthians 10:13bGod is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.This verse is so very often taken out of context and used to the discouragement of those who are struggling and suffering. How many times have you heard someone say, "God will not give you more than you can handle?" Maybe you have even said it yourself, I know I often said this when I was a young Christian. The fact is that sometimes we do have more than we can handle! This verse is the one often referenced when people make that statement. But LOOK at what it really says! It says the Lord will not let us be TEMPTED beyond our ability. It does not speak to circumstances of life, it speaks to temptation. Sometimes our circumstances are more than we can handle. What a discouragement to tell someone in the midst of overwhelming circumstances that they CAN handle it. There are things that ...

We have had another birthday! My hubby works with someone who is a very talented artist. This is a pencil sketch of our daughter drawn from a photo of her. The Pledge of Allegiance
2008-04-25 15:05:00
Red Skelton was before my time. I do not know much about him but for those of you who are completely unfamiliar with him, Red Skelton was a movie star and comedian on television back in the 1950s. He created a number of characters, and his show was watched by millions. He ended every show by saying, "GOOD NIGHT AND GOD BLESS." Listen to the end of this. It is something he said 39 years ago. It is very important that you listen to the very end! Eerie! Take a moment and listen to it (from 1969). How would he have known that this is what is happening today?Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance
Bits of Randomness
2008-04-24 14:41:00
Thirteen Bits of Randomness You might have noticed I have been a bit random in doing memes lately. I have moved to doing whichever one comes the easiest at the time rather than sticking to them on a regular basis. Sorry about that but right now easiest is the best.I had my first OB appointment yesterday but it is still too early and we did not hear a heart beat yet. I will have to wait until next time.I have an ultrasound scheduled for May 12th!They are going to finish resurfacing our street today. It is a good thing I am not going anywhere!I have to finish filling out a mortgage application. I do not know how we are going to qualify for enough for the size of a home we need, have you seen the prices for a 5-6 bedroom in the Anchorage area??? Ouch! It is double than what we pay here! We may end up having to rent!68 days until we pull out of town and head to Alaska. One month until I head to the midwest to visit my parents and siblings.I am still dealing with morning sickness an...
QF Carnival #4
2008-04-23 17:19:00
It is that time once again to share more testimonies and stories from others. I pray that you are touched and blessed by those who are sharing the work of the Lord in their lives.TF at Made from Scratch shares her journey. She says "I told J what I had been reading, and we read scriptures in the Bible together that concerned having children and trusting God completely, we talked about it and we both knew this was the way we wanted to live. We wanted to show God how much we loved him, We wanted to trust Him in every aspect of our life. Having children shouldn't be any different. I refuse to make excuses anymore. No matter if I have 2 children or 10, I will accept them joyfully, and I won't forget for one second how blessed we are." Read more of her article, Living a Quiverfull lifestyle.Lisa shares, "One of our family's passions is letting others know about our conviction to let GOD plan our family. Of course our beliefs must always be Scripturally aligned with our convictio...

Wild Fires
2008-04-21 14:39:00
When we lived in Colorado several years ago, we experienced some of the effect of wildfires. There was a large one on the other side of the mountain range. The sky was brown and it was difficult to breath. This past week things got much closer than I would have ever liked to be (and I am here in Texas). There was a wildfire that went through the town of Ordway, Colorado. (you can do a search and read about it) Ordway is a small town of about 1200 residents. We are familiar with this little town because my hubby pastored for several years in a nearby town. We still have some very dear friends who live there. The fire was so bad that they evacuated the town. Three lives were lost, about 20 homes destroyed, and several other buildings in town. We received an email from these friends about what had happened. Here is a small excerpt of a very long and heartbreaking email...On Tuesday afternoon the children noticed a large amount of smoke in thesky coming from the southwest of...

Two Baptisms
2008-04-15 14:46:00
This past Sunday evening there was much rejoicing. Two of our children were baptized!Acts 2:38-39And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”They were asked several questions in front of a small congregation and gave their testimony in that way. I video taped the questions EXCEPT for the first two questions (I couldn't remember how to work my camera). The questions not on the video are:1. What is the sign of baptism? Answer: Washing with water2. What does the washing with water represent? Answer: that we are untied with Christ and cleansed from sin by his blood. You can listen to the rest.... Here are a few pictures.....The service was concluded with someone playing Amazing Grace on their trumpet, which of course, bro...

My God Is..........
2008-04-08 14:33:00
I have a treat for you all today. I am posting an article written by my own dear husband! It is entitled, "My God Is." You can also find me over at Heart of the Matter, the new April edition is up! I pray you have an especially blessed day and that my hubby's article will either introduce you to or remind you of the great and awesome God who is the only one worthy of praise! My God is one God, the Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – as revealed exclusively in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. What I know and have experienced of Him is all that He has self-disclosed to humanity through His names and mighty acts as recorded in the Holy Scriptures and witnessed to in my life and the lives of those around me. He is sovereign and providentially reigns over and governs His creation. He is transcendent, absolutely holy, other and separate, yet He is imminent, personally involved and active in my daily life. He purposefully knit me in my mother’s womb a...

It looks to be a full day. May your day be a wonderfully blessed one, too!
Busyness Has Taken Over
2008-04-05 22:48:00
Well, as you can see I did not get my Photo Hunt picture up or my Saturday Psalm & Praise up. Today we had another Awana event. We left the house at 8 this morning and just returned home. Now the younger children are off to practice for another upcoming Awana event. Oh, don't forget all of the planning for our move, doctors appointments, dental appointments, passport appointments, and on and on. Oh yeah, we are still some-what trying to get a little bit of schooling done. As of yesterday, the house we are in is back on the market and has to be "viewable" within an hour's notice. All of this amidst morning aka All Day sickness(which thankfully isn't all that bad to be honest).Sooooo, Anyone tired yet????? I am exhausted. It is a good thing Oma is visiting for a couple of weeks and can play with the children so I can take a nap when I need one!
Fruit of Spirit Kindness
2008-04-04 14:42:00
The Lord has been dealing with me a lot lately concerning my dependence upon Him. This dependence must be in every area of my life. When I started blogging a year ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I have been hurt, discouraged and forced to look more deeply at who I am. Though most painful, this has stretched me and caused me to grow. But I have also made many friends along the way. They have encouraged me, spurred me on and challenged me which has also caused me to grow. The Lord is actively at work in my life and I have a peace that passes all understanding. I have been allowed to be a blessing to others and the Lord continues to open new doors of ministry for me in the blogging world. This adds a great responsibility I did not anticipate and is one I constantly feel ill-equipped to fulfill. I am humbled each time I am praised because I know that it is only by the power of the Spirit that anyone is touched.Humility is what we are called to and we are told in scriptu...
