House Passes Thought Crime Prevention Bill
2007-10-27 01:36:00 The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed HR 1955 titled the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007. This bill is one of the most blatant attacks against the Constitution yet and actually defines thought crimes as homegrown terrorism. If passed into law, it will also establish a commission and a Center of Excellence to study and defeat so called thought criminals. Unlike previous anti-terror legislation, this bill specifically targets the civilian population of the United States and uses vague language to define homegrown terrorism. Amazingly, 404 of our elected representatives from both the Democrat and Republican parties voted in favor of this bill. There is little doubt that this bill is specifically targeting the growing patriot community that is demanding the restoration of the Constitution.First let’s take a look at the definitions of violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism as defined in Section 899A of the bill. The definition o... Something Startling...
2007-10-26 10:03:00 I was watching TBN the other day (which I rarely do) and I saw this couple singing praises to the Lord. I don't know who they were but they were on stage singing in front of the audience and their voices were so beautiful. There was a cross with Christ on it and blood on His side, like we've all seen many times before I'm sure.I thought to myself 'how nice, these people are really singing from the bottom of their hearts'. I thought that they are using their God-given gift of song to praise the Lord and I felt kinda warm and fuzzy inside. They were very animated in their expressions with their arms lifted up high, tears trickling down their faces and you could just tell they loved the Lord.As I was sitting there enjoying their worshipful singing, suddenly I saw something very different. It's like the image changed before my eyes and I saw what was REALLY happening. As they were singing, they were circling around the cross with Christ on it, touching Him, crying, and singing to... The Sins I Love
2007-10-26 09:03:00 I don't know about anyone here but I've run across people who emphasize love, (which we are to do) but they take it to such an exaggerated level that they feel Christians aren't supposed to have any unpleasant emotions whatsoever. I've heard it said that the Bible could be a blank book with just one word, "Love ", written in it and that would be sufficient. This type of thinking is reminiscent of the hippy generation. Yes we are to watch what we say, yes we are to love our enemies, but is there ever a time when we are supposed to hate?Psa 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil:Prov 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.Deu 7:25-26 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God. Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest t... More About: Sins
Are Future Sins Forgiven?
2007-10-21 23:27:00 There is a teaching, predominantly by OSAS adherents, that our past, present, and FUTURE sins are forgiven. I'm going to give verses that state the contrary. I probably already ruffled your feathers just by the title but I ask that you please prayerfully consider what the Bible has to say. I know this is not a popular teaching, if taught at all, and so I ask that you please pray before you throw tomatoes at me. :)So why is this doctrine taught? Perhaps they teach this way in an effort to safeguard their doctrine of eternal security. Some say that if it was possible for a Christian to lose his salvation, it could only occur through sin. Then they want to know just how many sin(s) is enough to make you lose your salvation - where do you draw the line? But what they fail to realize is that there are other ways to lose your salvation besides sinning which is denying Jesus through persecution and accepting a wrong plan of salvation. (this I'll save for another blog entry at another ti... More About: Future , Sins
What is an Evil Spirit?
2007-10-20 20:05:00 The many accounts of evil spirits in Scripture affirm the reality of powerful spiritual forces of wickedness. Evil spirits (also known as demons or devils) are depraved spirits which are familiar with human weaknesses and desires. Some are more vile than others. The Bible has many names for these spirits:Deaf and dumb spirit (Mark 9:17-29)Evil spirit (Luke 7:21; Acts 19:12-13)Familiar spirit (I Samuel 28:7)Foul spirit (Mark 9:25)Lying spirit (II Chronicles 18:20-22)Perverse spirit (Isaiah 19:14; Romans 1:17-32)Seducing spirit (I Timothy 4:1)Spirit of an unclean devil (Luke 4:33)Spirit of antichrist (I John 4:3)Spirit of bondage (Romans 8:15)Spirit of death (I Corinthians 10:10, 15:26)Spirit of divination (Acts 16:16)Spirit of error (I John 4:6)Spirit of fear (II Timothy 1:7)Spirit of haughtiness (Proverbs 16:18-19)Spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3)Spirit of infirmity (Luke 13:11-13)Spirit of jealousy (Genesis 4:5-8; Numbers 5:14)Spirit of slumber (Isaiah 29:10, Romans 11:8)Spirit of t...
Can a Christian be Possessed by a Demon?
2007-10-20 19:48:00 A person who has been born again has the Holy Spirit within him (I Corinthians 2:12). To a Christian , the Bible says, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are" (I Corinthians 3:16-17).This person has been joined to Christ's body (I Corinthians 6:17-20) and has been translated from the kingdom of darkness to which he was born into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, to which he was born again (Colossians 1:13)!Those who are now in Christ were at one time under the kingdom of darkness, under the rule of the god of this world (Satan): "Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience" (Ephesians 2:2). But through Jesus Christ, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of Go... More About: Demon
What is Unbelief?
2007-10-20 18:32:00 The opposite of faith is doubt, or unbelief. We stand strong in Christ by faith (see II Corinthians 1:24); however, the reverse is also true: we fall away from Christ through unbelief. "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall" (I Corinthians 10:12).James likened a doubting person to a wave of the sea, unstable, driven to and fro: "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord" (James 1:6).Jesus' disciple Thomas refused to believe that Jesus had risen from the dead until He saw the risen Lord. Jesus said to Thomas, "'Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.' And Thomas answered and said unto him, 'My Lord and my God.' Jesus saith unto him, 'Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are the...
The Lord Speaks Through His Word!
2007-10-19 18:41:00 The Lord has been so kind to me and I just wanted to share this with whomever will read it.During my devotional yesterday, I was trying to recall where I have sinned so that I could confess it. I was really struggling with this because like I said earlier, I KNOW I'm not without sin but sometimes I cannot see it. So I prayed that He would reveal to me any sin found in me. We don't have divine sight like He does. The smallest sinful thought may not catch our notice and then it's gone quickly and we may forget. I told Him that I thought this may be the case with me. I didn't 'hear' anything from Him so I figure, He'll let me know in His time what I did. After my prayers I began reading from 1 Corin. I will not type the whole verse - I will type as far as I read...."Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, "(1 Corin. 13:4)IMMEDIATELY something came to mind that I was envious of yesterday, for about 10 seconds, and then I let it go. I couldn't believe it! It's like a fl... Praise Jesus Because He Gave Me The Holy Smackdown This Morning!
2007-10-16 18:00:00 I have a problem with my delivery and my anger sometimes. I'm normally laid back but when it comes to things of a spiritual nature, I am armed and loaded and ready to shoot! Unfortunately at times I exude WAY too much force in my delivery thus grinding the offender into a fine powder. This is NOT the way a child of God should act but I did it....AGAIN!!!Without getting into the gory details, there was a bone I had to pick with my husband and I picked it yesterday. But...I went too far. I made an accusatory statement afterwards which really hurt him. My thinking was "I was right so suck it up and deal with it." After speaking with him this morning, he said he was disappointed in how I said something. He agreed with what I said, and that he was wrong about something, but he was upset at the remark I made afterwards. But I stood by what I said. In fact I went on this long tirade defending myself on my holy high-horse and when I decided to give him a moment to speak, he said something ... More About: Jesus , Praise , Morning , Holy , Smack
True Feminine Beauty
2007-10-15 12:36:00 This topic was raised elsewhere by a Christian and caused me some concern so I wanted to put it here. This person gave suggestions on how to tell your daughters and wives they are pretty without following the world's definition of beauty. While I think the author had good intentions, I think he is still succumbing to a worldly view. He suggests: (I only quoted relevant points)1) "Don't just tell your wife and daughters they are beautiful - show them with hugs, kisses, holding hands, taking them on dates. If all you do is tell the women in your life they are beautiful, but never show them, they won't believe you."2) "Affirm them in ways not related to beauty. Women want to be valued and know that they are contributing. Being pretty helps them feel valued. This seems to work in reverse. Since they feel valued when they know they are pretty, if you help them to feel valued, they will also feel pretty. so find what your wife and daughters like to do, and constantly affirm them in it... Speaking the Truth In Love
2007-10-15 10:05:00 Eph. 4:1515Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. "In love" does not mean to be soft and gentle. To show agape love (and this is the exact word from the original Greek) means with brotherly love, affection, good will. Many people think 'in love' means how you approach them but really 'in love' means why you do it. Are you trying to save them from making a mistake? Are you trying to impart truth? Are you trying to shine the light on their error? When you do these things you do love that person. There is a time for boldness and gentleness but if you rebuke in a tone louder than a whisper, most people would think of you as unloving. Removing stumbling blocks for your brother is an act of love. Exposing false doctrine is an act of love. Correcting and rebuking is an act of love."Speaking the truth" is one word in the Greek - "alhqueontev" or aletheuo (al-ayth-yoo). It means "to be true in doctrine and profession"... "Why Doesn't God Answer My Prayers?"
2007-10-12 01:15:00 This question came up in a discussion group I joined "Christian Bloggers Spreading The Word so I thought I'd comment here also because maybe more can benefit from it.This is not a study - this is just my experience as I've walked with the Lord.I have found that there's no formula in order to get God to act. There's no 'magical' words to say, it doesn't matter which ministry I support, no amount of good deeds will work, and it doesn't matter how much I tithe. Before I get into this we must realize that we are not here for US - but for Him. We were created for Him, to honor, obey, and give Him glory.Let's look at material things we might pray for....financial needs, job, food, house, healing etc. These things are very important, and some are essential to survival and there's nothing wrong with praying for these things. The Bible says He knows what we need before we ask. We should not get discouraged if we don't 'hear' anything because this is our opportunity to live by f... More About: Answer , Prayers , Pray
For All Those Who Are Lonely
2007-10-08 11:27:00 A dear brother, Michael, inspired me to write about this subject after reading his blog entry. As some of you know I just got married and you're probably wondering what am I doing talking about being lonely. Hang in there and give me a shot.I've never been a person to get 'lonely'. While I enjoyed the company of others, I was just as happy doing things by myself - I've always been that way. I've been in lots of relationships and when they went bad, I moved on quickly with no baggage. (now you're really wondering what I'm doing talking about this)Fast-forward....When I received Jesus, and during the years following I wondered if He had someone special for me. I prayed about this and different men came into my life and I wondered if he was 'the one'. Of course they weren't and again, it didn't bother me. I thought that being married was the Christian thing to do (and it is)- along with bearing children and so that's really why I prayed. Deep down, I could take it or leave ... More About: Lonely
The "Little Things" Jesus Does.
2007-10-07 05:19:00 The following is something I wrote in my journal four years ago. I wanted to share with everyone because it showed me that Jesus does little things for us that we might miss. He loves us and cares for us so much, that these "little things" are actually HUGE when you remember that they came from the Creator of heaven and earth yet He reveals this love to each of us individually. Amazing!!!!9/8/03I prayed yesterday that I could see the little things He does for me in my life - the little things that I wouldn't notice. I went to bed and I woke up at midnight and spent time with Him in prayer and reading the Bible. I asked that He reveal to me when He does something little so I so I can give Him glory that is due Him. After reading I was still tired so I went back to sleep but I kept the light on. (something I've never done)I don't know why I did this but I did it.I had 4 horrible nightmares last night - probably because I watched that video from Ministry "Stigmata." I kept waking u... "I've Got Nothing To Say" - There! I Said It!
2007-10-07 04:03:00 Have you ever said that to Jesus? I have. I've also had nothing to confess because in my estimation, I haven't deliberately sinned so there was nothing that I was aware of. I've also said that I didn't feel like praying. How irreverent is that?!?! I also told Him I'd rather be doing something else. Wow! I figure He already knows my heart so there's no reason to pretend. What good is it to force it when He knows my heart is elsewhere? And my saying these things to Him is usually done because I've done everything else imaginable...I've already cleaned, shopped, did my nails, my hair, gave myself a facial and so on and since there's nothing on tv, out of boredom I come to Jesus and when I do, I've got nothing to say. Sounds awful doesn't it? That's because IT IS!!! Does this mean I'm not a Christian? No. Does it mean I lack love for Him and possibly others? Yes. Does this mean I took my eyes off my first love? Yes.Does this mean I'm loving the world more than Him? Yes.Doe...
Question in Acts.
2007-10-03 22:10:00 I was reading from Acts this afternoon and my NIV study notes made it seem like it was bad to refer to God as the Most High God. The reasons were because evil people, and possessed people, referred to Him using that title. (Mark 5:2-man possessed by evil spirit, Num 24:16 Balaam a pagan prophet, Isa 14:14 quote from serpent, Acts 16:18 slave girl/fortune teller, Dan 3:26 Nebuchadnezzar)It also said that the Most High God was not used by Christians or Jews in the NT and cited Acts 7:48 as proof of this but for the life of me, I cannot see it. (not to mention that it IS in the NT - Heb 7:1)In context:Acts 7:44-48 44"Our forefathers had the tabernacle of the Testimony with them in the desert. It had been made as God directed Moses, according to the pattern he had seen. 45Having received the tabernacle, our fathers under Joshua brought it with them when they took the land from the nations God drove out before them. It remained in the land until the time of David, 46who enjoyed God's f... More About: Question

Chart O'Sins
2007-09-30 18:37:00 When I was a new believer, I was zealous to obey Jesus. I spent a lot of time examining and critiquing myself in every area imaginable starting with my thoughts. So one day I got the idea that I should make a list of my sins - and me being extremely left-brained and analytical, decided to make an Excel spreadsheet charting all of my sins. I would carry this sheet around with me all day long and when I sinned, I put a check in the appropriate cell. This soon changed into a number because I sinned several times per entry. I figure I would also examine weekly trends of each individual sin to identify particular problem areas. But then I noticed something....as the weeks went by, I noticed that my chart had fewer and fewer numbers (or checks). I was thrilled that I was sinning less. I was feeling kind of good about myself. I thought I was well on my way to becoming a good Christian. Then one day I noticed that there were no checks in the cells. I had been sin-free for about three days. It ... More About: Chart , Char
The Danger of a Sinful Thought Life
2007-09-29 22:38:00 (excerpt from The Vanishing Conscience by John MacArthur)No sin is more destructive to the conscience than the sin that takes place in the arena of the mind. Sins of the mind assault the conscience like no other sins, because the conscience is their only deterrent. After all, who but God and the sinner ever knows bout them? "Who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him?" (2 Corin 2:11). Many people who will not do evil deeds are nevertheless boldly evil in their thoughts. A man who abstains from fornication for fear of getting caught might convince himself it is all right to indulge in salacious fantasies because he thinks no one else will ever discover such a private sin. The sins he deliberately entertains in his mind may be a thousand times more evil than anything he would ever think of doing before others. Scripture says his guilt is the same as if he acted out his fantasies. To indulge in sins of thought, therefore, is to molest the con... More About: Life , Thought , Danger
Note to Readers....
2007-09-29 20:27:00 I think I should have written this early on - to let you all know where I'm coming from. A lot of the things I write I think are to scare myself and keep myself in check sometimes. I rarely write any "feelgood" messages - I tend to focus on verses of warning and condemnation because I'm terrified of being complacent and comfortable. Every time I read a rebuke in the Bible, I always think I'm guilty of it. I read James and I about fell over! I'm not dark or depressed or anything. I just don't want to be 'content' when I'm really in jeopardy. So please know that the things I post, while they are for everyone generally, they mainly are reminders for me. I'm really pointing the finger at myself. If I post a sort-of rebukey type of message, that does not mean that I have mastered that issue. It means I saw something in myself, a warning bell went off, and I want to put it up (because it forces me to think about it) as a sort of boundary for me, and secondly for someone else if th... Make Sure You're a Christian - Test Yourselves
2007-09-29 03:41:00 This is long so pack a lunch!Going to church doesn't make you a Christian . Neither does responding to an altar call, or saying the sinner's prayer, or being a good person. You are only a Christian if Christ is in you which can be tested and proven according to Scriptures.Test Yourself2 Corin. 13:5 5Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 1 Corin. 11:28, 31 28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 31For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 2 Corin. 13:5 5Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?God gives us instructions on how we can and should 'test ourselves' in Scripture, which can be grouped into five major categories. 1) Gospel Belief and Confession; 2) Born Again/Sonship/Corre... To make this salable to you, they convince you that it's for your own protection. This appeals to the "victim" because of the possible monetary gain which is usually handsome. What these greedy "fat-cats", lawyers and consumers alike, don't realize is that abusing our legal system harms the economy and job creation, threatens our access to affordable quality health care, and delays justice for the truly injured by clogging our courts. Ultimately the lawsuits hurt all of us.Below are examples of some of these outlandish suits.Karen Norman accidentally backed her car into Galveston Bay after a night of drinking. What is Happening to Their Minds?
2007-09-24 12:02:00 Something is happening in the minds of people today and it's scaring me. I'm not talking about people who are mentally challenged or disturbed, or even the criminal minded. I'm talking about brothers and sisters in Christ. This is not a Bible study or a rant, this is me getting personal - trying to see if others have observed the same thing. I'm wondering if this is something new or has it always been this way and I've just been oblivious to it. I'll describe overall what I'm talking about and then I'll give examples. They only way I can describe this is that their minds are foggy, they don't understand what they just read, and/or flat-out deny what they just read. I'm not talking about people who have trouble interpreting what they read in the Bible - I'm talking about reading something plainly, then denying it.Ex: I read a chapter to someone over the phone about salvation. Agree to Disagree on "Non-Essentials"
2007-09-21 06:05:00 "Let's just agree to disagree. After all, they're non-essentials ."Have you ever heard this phrase before? Of course you have. This is a common catch-phrase Christians like to use when they can't get the other person to share their belief. In the spirit of keeping the peace, they throw in the towel and move on. Well here's my thoughts....Non-essentialIf something is nonessential, then it is not important. The Bible said of itself that all of it is profitable. That's means all of it is important which means ALL of it is essential. We should be hanging on every word God says - He does not vainly babble like we do and so I repeat, All of it is essential.HumanityI also believe we are fallible. We can be wrong. I fully admit that I can be wrong.Agree to disagreeI hate the phrase "agree to disagree'. First I'll tell you why I hate it. By saying this, we are saying we're at an impasse, we're not going to get anywhere, so let's just drop the subject. If you drop the subject, you do... More About: Essentials , Essential
Do You Believe You Are Going to Heaven?
2007-09-21 05:15:00 I wrote this as a response to King'sKid's question on her blog so I thought I'd put it here too to reach more people. This is an excellent question. The people I’ve been dealing with for years would cite one verse - about believing on Jesus but it is much more than that….Believe upon Jesus:Believing upon Jesus (the right Jesus) is a necessity to being saved:John 3:18, “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”But believing in Jesus is not enough:Shortly after John 3:16, it tells us in verse 21,“But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”Also, James 2:19-26 says,“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Evidence of the Trinity
2007-09-20 04:58:00 After browsing blogs this past week, I noticed that the issue of the Trinity has been coming up. I am finding, to my horror, that some people are modalists - a belief that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one person with different offices. This denies Jesus as the Son of God, denies the Holy Spirit that was sent to each of us which in turn implies that the Bible is fallible.Everyone who believes in the Trinity can cite Jesus' baptism as evidence of the Trinity but are there other verses? I'm going to color code verses that apply to each...Father = RedSon = BlueHoly Spirit = GreenIsaiah 61:1: "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;" (This is a triadic passage because Jesus applies the text to Himself in Luke 4:18-30)Isaiah 63:8-19: "For He said, "Surely, they are My people, Sons who will not deal falsely." The Mathetes Award
2007-09-19 05:26:00 What is the Mathetes Award ? Mathetes is the Greek word for disciple, and the role of the disciple (per the Great Commission) is to make more disciples. I was given this award from Jerry Beuterbaugh of FishHawk Droppings because of Belt of Truth Ministries and I must say I'm quite surprised. I'm also very thankful. There's nothing I enjoy more than spreading God's truths, learning, teaching, and discussing doctrinal issues. Doubting Thomas - Read Without Assumption
2007-09-18 13:08:00 I'm sure we're all familiar with the doubting Thom as story. Thomas didn't believe the other disciples saw Jesus and he said he wouldn't believe unless he put his fingers into Jesus' wounds. Well what if I were to tell you that Thomas never touched Jesus? That every time you heard that story from a preacher that he was wrong. That every time you read that story you assumed he touched Him. Don't throw that rock and call me a heretic just yet. :) Read for yourself..John 20:24-29 (KJV)24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, [Thomas] was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be...
