I was watching TBN the other day (which I rarely do) and I saw this couple singing praises to the Lord. I don't know who they were but they were on stage singing in front of the audience and their voices were so beautiful. There was a cross with Christ on it and blood on His side, like we've all seen many times before I'm sure.I thought to myself 'how nice, these people are really singing from the bottom of their hearts'. I thought that they are using their God-given gift of song to praise the Lord and I felt kinda warm and fuzzy inside. I don't know about anyone here but I've run across people who emphasize love, (which we are to do) but they take it to such an exaggerated level that they feel Christians aren't supposed to have any unpleasant emotions whatsoever. I've heard it said that the Bible could be a blank book with just one word, "Love ", written in it and that would be sufficient. This type of thinking is reminiscent of the hippy generation. There is a teaching, predominantly by OSAS adherents, that our past, present, and FUTURE sins are forgiven. I'm going to give verses that state the contrary. I probably already ruffled your feathers just by the title but I ask that you please prayerfully consider what the Bible has to say. I know this is not a popular teaching, if taught at all, and so I ask that you please pray before you throw tomatoes at me. :)So why is this doctrine taught? The Lord has been so kind to me and I just wanted to share this with whomever will read it.During my devotional yesterday, I was trying to recall where I have sinned so that I could confess it. I was really struggling with this because like I said earlier, I KNOW I'm not without sin but sometimes I cannot see it. So I prayed that He would reveal to me any sin found in me. I have a problem with my delivery and my anger sometimes. I'm normally laid back but when it comes to things of a spiritual nature, I am armed and loaded and ready to shoot! Unfortunately at times I exude WAY too much force in my delivery thus grinding the offender into a fine powder. This is NOT the way a child of God should act but I did it....AGAIN!!!Without getting into the gory details, there was a bone I had to pick with my husband and I picked it yesterday. This person gave suggestions on how to tell your daughters and wives they are pretty without following the world's definition of beauty. While I think the author had good intentions, I think he is still succumbing to a worldly view. He suggests: (I only quoted relevant points)1) "Don't just tell your wife and daughters they are beautiful - show them with hugs, kisses, holding hands, taking them on dates. This question came up in a discussion group I joined "Christian Bloggers Spreading The Word so I thought I'd comment here also because maybe more can benefit from it.This is not a study - this is just my experience as I've walked with the Lord.I have found that there's no formula in order to get God to act. There's no 'magical' words to say, it doesn't matter which ministry I support, no amount of good deeds will work, and it doesn't matter how much I tithe. Before I get into this we must realize that we are not here for US - but for Him. We were created for Him, to honor, obey, and give Him glory.Let's look at material things we might pray for....financial needs, job, food, house, healing etc. These things are very important, and some are essential to survival and there's nothing wrong with praying for these things. The following is something I wrote in my journal four years ago. I wanted to share with everyone because it showed me that Jesus does little things for us that we might miss. He loves us and cares for us so much, that these "little things" are actually HUGE when you remember that they came from the Creator of heaven and earth yet He reveals this love to each of us individually. "I've Got Nothing To Say" - There! I Said It!

Have you ever said that to Jesus? I have. I've also had nothing to confess because in my estimation, I haven't deliberately sinned so there was nothing that I was aware of. I've also said that I didn't feel like praying. How irreverent is that?!?! I also told Him I'd rather be doing something else. Wow! I figure He already knows my heart so there's no reason to pretend. What good is it to force it when He knows my heart is elsewhere? I was reading from Acts this afternoon and my NIV study notes made it seem like it was bad to refer to God as the Most High God. The reasons were because evil people, and possessed people, referred to Him using that title. When I was a new believer, I was zealous to obey Jesus. I spent a lot of time examining and critiquing myself in every area imaginable starting with my thoughts.So one day I got the idea that I should make a list of my sins - and me being extremely left-brained and analytical, decided to make an Excel spreadsheet charting all of my sins. I would carry this sheet around with me all day long and when I sinned, I put a check in the appropriate cell. This soon changed into a number because I sinned several times per entry. I figure I would also examine weekly trends of each individual sin to identify particular problem areas.But then I noticed something....as the weeks went by, I noticed that my chart had fewer and fewer numbers (or checks). I think I should have written this early on - to let you all know where I'm coming from. A lot of the things I write I think are to scare myself and keep myself in check sometimes. I rarely write any "feelgood" messages - I tend to focus on verses of warning and condemnation because I'm terrified of being complacent and comfortable. Every time I read a rebuke in the Bible, I always think I'm guilty of it. I read James and I about fell over! I'm not dark or depressed or anything. I just don't want to be 'content' when I'm really in jeopardy.So please know that the things I post, while they are for everyone generally, they mainly are reminders for me. I'm really pointing the finger at myself. If I post a sort-of rebukey type of message, that does not mean that I have mastered that issue.
