Preaching Opportunity
2007-09-10 21:39:00
This past Saturday, we had the opportunity to attend services at Living Faith Baptist Church in Jefferson, SC, where Bro. Doug Taylor is the pastor. In the morning services we were able to hear several preachers we knew such as, Bro. Paul Sisk, Bro. Jack Simpson and Bro. Chris, a friend of the family. Then, they took a break for lunch. In the afternoon service, we heard Bro. Bill Vaughn and then several young preachers. Toward the end of the service I had the opportunity to preach for about 5 min. I really enjoyed the services and I thank the Lord for allowing me to preach. ~Caleb~

"The Bus Report"
2007-09-10 21:07:00
The Lord really blessed us with a great crowd on the bus yesterday morning. Every seat was filled with 2-3 people in a seat. Towards the end of our route, while we were still picking up kids, it got so full that I had to stand up to let kids sit in my seat. (By the way, I love it when it gets that full.) It's always exciting to see the kids laughing and having a great time on the bus. Please be in prayer for the upcoming program at our church. Pray that the Lord will bless Bus #3 with alot of riders during that time. Also, I ask that you would please be in prayer for our BIG day on Oct. 7. Our goal for Bus #3 is to run 2-3 buses on our route and have 178 riders on our buses that morning. Please be in prayer that the Lord would allow us to reach that goal. Also, continue to pray for salvation and/or spiritual growth for each of our riders. Glad to be on Bus #3! ~Joshua~

A Great Thought
2007-09-10 05:06:00
1 Corinthians 15:10 "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." I am not what I ought to be. I am not what I want to be.I am not what I hope to be.But still, I am not what I used to be.And by the grace of God, I am what I am.

How to Discern a Fool
2007-09-08 01:11:00
Proverbs 13:20 "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." This verse says "...a companion of fools shall be destroyed. " We have heard preaching that relates to our friends and how we need to have godly friends, but how do we know who we should hang around with? Here are a few characteristics of a fool. 1. Mockery of God - Psalm 14:1 "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." 2. Multitude of Words - Ecclesiastes 5:2,3 "Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words." 3. Master of Deceit - Proverbs 14:8 "The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit." 4. Man of Wrath - Proverbs 14:29 "He...

Psalm 139:1-7 "O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?"I want us to look at who God really is and what He knows about us. That should challenge us, convict us, comfort us, change us.I. God Knows Our Frame - Psalm 139:1 "O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me."II. "The Bus Report"
2007-09-04 22:05:00
This past Saturday, we were able to go on bus visitation again. We were able to visit our entire bus route, checking up on the kids and their families and reminding them about church the next day. It is so much fun getting to visit the different kids on our route. I usually try to cheer them up and play with them when we go.It is also sad to see what they face each day such as, drunken dads and moms, divorced parents, fighting, etc. Many times we think if only we can just reach more kids to ride our bus, but there are other people in the homes of our bus riders who need to be reached. In fact, in most cases, until those other people are reached, we will never really get to the heart of that child and be able to see fruit that remains. I want to challenge you in filling your bus and keeping it full to reach moms, dads and other adults by applying the following principles.1. Take time to talk to the parents at each stopWhen you go visiting, always talk to the parents first. It is very...

Teenage "Drug" Problem

I had a "drug" problem when I was a young person and teenager.I was "drug" to church on Sunday morning.I was "drug" to church on Sunday night.I was "drug" to church on Wednesday night.I was "drug" to Sunday school every week.I was "drug" to Vacation Bible School.I was "drug" to the family altar to read the Bible and pray.I was also "drug" to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents. Those "drugs" are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack or heroin. If our children had this kind of "drug" problem, America would certainly be a better place.~Author unknown~

Why We Should Immediately Confess Our Sin
2007-08-31 22:13:00
(School started back this past Monday for our family. One of my subjects this year is outlining a passage from our morning Bible Time. Here is an outline from Monday.)"Why We Should Immediately Confess Our Sin" 1Jo 1:6-9 "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."1. Sin prohibits fellowship with God - 1Jo 1:6 "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:"2. Sin prohibits our prayers from being answered - Ps 66:18 "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:" Pr 1:28 "Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer;...

Marks of the Man of GodThe pastor knows when he is right and admits when he is wrong; can take rebuke without retaliating; can keep his cool when everybody around him is spitting fire. After falling down, he can pick himself up and press on.The pastor can turn the other cheek rather than swing the other fist; can suffer persecution without developing a persecution complex; can face the music without striking a note of discord; can be enveloped in the heat and stay in the kitchen; can suffer criticism without becoming critical. The pastors can drink the cup of bitterness without becoming embittered; can endure hardship without becoming hardened; can be knocked down without being knocked out; and can be complimented without becoming conceited.~Dr. Raymond Barber~

A Merry Heart

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones." Proverbs 17:22While the mother was shopping, the little boy was allowed to play on a rocking horse in the toy department. Finally the mother was ready to go home and called to the boy, "Come on, son, let's go." The boy ignored all her pleadings and coaxings and refused to budge. After much time had passed and she saw that her efforts were in vain. In desperation the mother called the store psychiatrist.Gently he walked over and whispered a few words in the boy's ear and immediately the lad jumped off and ran to his mother's side."How in the world did you do that?" the mother exclaimed. "What did you say to him?"The psychiatrist hesitated for a moment, then said, "Madam, I simply said, "if you don't jump off that rocking horse at once , son, I'm going go knock the stuffing out of you!"************************************ **********************************Patient : "Doctor, I think everyone tries to t...

What else is there to life besides having fun?
2007-08-28 19:20:00
The purpose and theme of the book of Ecclesiastes is to show to man that all of life is empty, vain, and meaningless without the Lord. Keep in mind that the man sharing this perspective had it all according to the world?s philosophy: wine, women, and worldly goods. In Ecclesiastes 2:1, Solomon states very simply and in summary form his goal in life and his findings. He said, "I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity." His goal was to live it up and "enjoy pleasure," and found as a result of his pursuit that everything was "vanity."Solomon?s Experiment (2:3-10)Notice what Solomon pursued to find satisfaction and purpose in life: wine (v. 3), works (v. 4)?he mentioned the houses he built, women (v. 7), plenty of wealth (v. 8), and even tried worshiping himself (v. 9). He decided that he "was great." What is it that you think would bring you ultimate satisfaction in life? Solomon essentially said, "Been th...

"The Bus Report"
2007-08-27 21:40:00
This past Saturday, Courtney, Caleb and I had the opportunity to visit our bus route with our bus captain. We were able to make some new contacts as well as visit our regular riders. It was really a fun and profitable day.Sunday morning was exciting as usual. As each kid got on the bus, we marked their hand with a #3 so that they would know which bus they rode. Then, they were given some kind of snack such as crackers, cookies, etc. While we continued to pick up other kids we all sang songs with the riders. Upon arrival at church, the kids were divided into different groups and led to their Sunday School departments. When church was over, we gathered up all of our kids and led them back to the bus. As we dropped them off, we kept them entertained with games and prizes. It's really fun to see who can sing the loudest (that can be hilarious). Yesterday was a very rewarding day. Below you will see some pictures of Saturday's bus visiting as well as pictures from Sunday. Please continu...

You Can Move Mountains
2007-08-24 17:37:00
Did you know that, if you are a Christian, you can move mountains? I know, everyone can move mountains if they have the giant earthmovers, but you can move mountains with your word as well. In James 4:2, we see that we have not because we ask not. Jesus said in Mat 17:20, ??ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.? So, where is your faith today? Can you move mountains? Now, don?t go out and start commanding the hills just yet ? lets look at why we can do this. If we are saved, we have the Holy Spirit of God living in us. This is God. This is the same God that spoke the universe into existence (Genesis 1), the same God at whose presence the mountains melt (Nahum 1:5, Amos 9:13). Yet we as Christians fail to claim this power that dwells within us. If we study James 4:1-3 we can see several reasons why our prayers may not be answered.James 4:1-3 ?From whence co...

Six Ways You Can Please God
2007-08-23 18:10:00
"When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him." Proverbs 16:7 How can this be done? I am amazed at the number of times we read in the Bible about pleasing God. I have selected six instances where we are exhorted to "please God." I. Preach the Gospel - "For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." I Corinthians 1:21 II. Have Faith in God - "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6 III. Preach the Cross - "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand." Isaiah 53:10 IV. Live in the Spirit - "So then they that are in the flesh cannot please Go...

"The Bus Report"
2007-08-21 03:00:00
In early 2006, my brothers and I were asked by our bus director if we would help in our church's bus ministry. Our church runs seven different bus routes picking up adults and kids throughout our city and surrounding cities as well. That next Sunday, we had the opportunity to work on Bus #3 and have been on it since. Since that time, I've seen God work many miracles through different ones that ride our bus each Sunday. It's such a blessing to see the Lord change a person's life and put new desires in their heart. I want to thank the Lord for allowing me to be a part of this exciting ministry. Lord willing, each Monday's post will be devoted to "The Bus Report " where I will give the latest updates on Bus #3 happenings, any upcoming events, as well as other bus related articles. Be sure to come back each week for bus ministry tips, special promotions, bus blessings, prayer requests, book reviews etc.Glad to be on Bus #3!Joshua
Twenty things happen to our sins the moment Christ saves us!!!
2007-08-16 20:50:00
Twenty things happen to our sins the moment Christ saves us.Sins forgiven is our precious experience and present enjoyment (1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."), and sins covered and put away is God's method of "forgiving and forgetting." The moment we are in Christ by faith, twenty things can be said about our sins:1. They are blotted out - Isaiah 43:25 "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins."2. They are borne by another - 1 Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."3. They are cast behind God's back - Isaiah 38:17 "Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back."4. They are cast into th...

Stand In Awe
2007-08-14 20:37:00
(This is an outline of a message preached by my pastor. My (Joshua's) comments are in red.)"Stand In Awe" We should stand in awe of: I. God - Psalm 33:8Sad to say, this world that we live in does not fear the Lord. Whether it's in their thoughts, actions, dress, etc., people do not reverence the Lord like they once did. Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Those that fear, respect and reverence the Lord are wise and will be blessed. Ask the Lord as you go about your daily actions, "Am I fearing You"? II. His Word - Psalm 119:161We need to get back into God's Word and hunger to learn more about Him. Matthew 5:6 states, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Are you truly hungering after His Word? Do you have a desire to know more about Him? If you truly hunger and thirst for His Word, God will fill you. III. Sin - Psalm 4:4We should be frighte...
How To Stay In The Fight
2007-08-13 22:21:00
(This message was preached at Faith Baptist Camp by Pastor David Webb. My (Joshua) comments are in red.)II Timothy 4:5-7 "But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"What do we need to do to stay in the fight?I. Be Faithful ~ Hebrews 10:25We need to stay faithful to church, soul-winning, bus route, choir, etc.II. Stay Tender ~ Psalm 139:23,24As Christians, we need to stay tender to the Lord and not grow hardened toward Him. If the Lord convicts or speaks to us during a service, we should go to the altar to maintain the personal relationship with Jesus. The more we resist the Lord talking to us, the more hardened we will grow toward Him.III. Limit the Obstacles in our Lives ~ Psalm 101A. TVB. MusicC. Teach Your Children Biblical Christianity
2007-08-01 22:47:00
When we say that we are fundamentalists, we mean by this that biblical Christianity defines our fundamentalism. We must not make the mistake of trying to define biblical Christianity by our fundamentalism. "Some people say that fundamentalism is dead. No, my friend, fundamentalism is alive. It has been and always will be until the coming of Jesus Christ." Teac h them that the Bible is the Word of God. Teach them that the Lord Jesus is the only Saviour. Teach them that salvation is for all those who will repent of their sin and believe. Teach them the importance of the local New Testament church. Teach them what God's Word says concerning separation to the Lord and from the world. Teach them how to live the victorious Christian life. Teach them the truth concerning the Second Coming of our Lord. Teach them concerning the eternity of the soul, and Heaven and hell. Teach them the responsibility of personal soul-winning.(Taken from a sermon given by Dr. Lee Roberson in 1978)

And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. How Should We Approach The Word Of God?

With Desire - Psalm 84:2 "My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God." 4. With Openness - James 1:22-25 "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." 5. Pope: Other Christians not True Churches
2007-07-11 03:25:00
LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy - Pope Benedict XVI reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation. The new document ? formulated as five questions and answers ? restates key sections of a 2000 text the pope wrote when he was prefect of the congregation, "Dominus Iesus," which riled Protestant and other Christian denominations because it said they were not true churches but merely ecclesial communities and therefore did not have the "means of salvation."The commentary repeated church teaching that says the Catholic Church "has the fullness of the means of salvation.""Christ 'established here on earth' only one church," said the document released as the pope vacations at a villa in Lorenzago di Cadore, in Italy's Dolomite mountains. The other communities "cannot be called 'churches' in the proper sense" bec...

Even God Cannot Get Into Some Churches
2007-06-18 23:41:00
For more than a year a little old charwoman (a cleaning lady) who lived on the wrong side of the tracks had been trying to join a fashionable downtown church. The preacher was not eager to have a seedy-looking person in faded, out-of-style clothes sitting in a pew next to his rich members. When she called for the fifth time to discuss membership, he put her off for the fifth time. "I'll tell you what," said he unctuously, "you just go home tonight and have a talk with God about it. Later you can tell me what He said." The poor woman went her way. Weeks moved into months, and the preacher saw no more of her, and his conscience did hurt him a little. Then one day he encountered her scrubbing floors in an office building and felt impelled to inquire, "Did you have your little talk with God, Mrs. Washington?" he asked. "Oh, my, yes," she said, "I talked with God, as you said." "Ah, and what answer did He give you?" "Well, Preacher," she pushed back a wisp of stringy hair with a sudsy h...
