Do You Appreciate The Chastening Of The Lord?
2007-05-02 18:49:00 Every Christian is in need of discipline from God. You will be chastened by God in the way necessary to mold you into the person God wants you to be. Some will be chastened mildly, others a little more earnestly, and some even very sternly. Do not view God's discipline as punishment for something you may have done, but see it as God intends. He disciplines you for your future good! Accept the discipline God brings in your life and let Him mold you into His will. As God accomplishes His purpose in your life through discipline, there are three principles you must understand, (1) the human view of Godly discipline, (2) the heavenly view of Godly discipline, and (3) the holy objective of Godly discipline. Humanly, do not despise and resent His chastening or become tired of His constant care in your life. Though His chastening may be stern at times, His grace is always sufficient empowering you to serve even in the midst of purposed affliction (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). Try to view trials... Wanted: Enthusiasm For God
2007-05-01 19:42:00 A.W. Tozer said: "To me, it has always been difficult to understand those evangelical (I would say Fundamental) Christians who insist upon living in a crisis as if no crisis existed. They say they serve the Lord, but they divide their days so as to leave plenty of time to play and loaf and enjoy the pleasures of the world as well. They are at ease while the world burns . . . If we evangelicals (Fundamentalists) had one-third the enthusiasm of some of the cults we could take a continent. We have a lazy bunch of evangelicals (Fundamentalists) on our hands." We can get enthused over a new house, new car, better job, more money, a ball game, etc., but where are those who are enthused about Jesus Christ and His work? If someone gets saved, nobody gets excited! Heaven does, but we don't! I've often said everybody is doing what he wants to do. The vast majority of believers could come to Prayer Meeting, if they wanted to. They could go one hour a week on visitation, if they wanted to. Th... More About: Want , Thus , Wanted , Enthusiasm
Why I am a Baptist
2007-04-30 23:22:00 Baptists are a people. They have a historical identity. They have a historical image. Their continuity is the longest of any Christian group on earth. Their doctrines, principles, and practices are rooted in the apostolic age. I am not a Pharasaical sectarian but I don't confuse Baptists with the Reformers. The Reformers wanted to reform the Roman Catholic Church; the Baptists were against the church, because it was not a New Testament church. Protestantism originated in the Reformation. Protestantism is "protestism." That's a Negative. Negativism has within it the seed of its own disintegration. The Baptists were not reformers. They were not protestors. They were positive. Freedom of conscience is not a Reformation doctrine; it is a Baptist doctrine. Religious liberty is not a Reformation doctrine; it is a Baptist doctrine. Believer's baptism is not a Reformation doctrine; it is a Baptist doctrine. Baptism of the believer by immersion in water, symbolizing the believer's death,... More About: Baptist
The Bible Speaks On Homosexuality
2007-04-29 00:33:00 1. The Law of God speaks against it. Leviticus 18:22, ?Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.? An abomination is anything that is disgusting to God.Leviticus 20:13, ?If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.? Deuteronomy 23:17,28 ?There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel. Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the LORD thy God.? The word ?dog? means a sodomite or a male prostitute.2. Biblical history speaks against it. Genesis 19:4-12, ?But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to th... Persecution Is Coming Because The Church Is Sleeping!!!
2007-04-29 00:22:00 PASTORS: ACT NOW OR PREPARE FOR JAIL H.R. 1592 will destroy equal justice (setting up a victim hierarchy) and set up a Gay Gestapo with unlimited funds and send grandma to jail for sharing her faith on the public sidewalk, as happened in Philadelphia. But what you may not know is how this bill scheduled for a vote in the House this week will come after pastors and all those who disagree with the homosexual agenda out loud. H.R. 1592 the so-called "hate crimes" bill isn't about hate. It isn't about "crimes" (there are already stiff penalties against crimes); it's about speech. Overcoming Temptation
2007-04-28 06:58:00 James 1:13,14 ?Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.? In the day in which we live, there are many ways the devil tempts us to sin. Never before has our adversary had such powerful technology with which to glamorize sin. Whether it?s through a billboard, a magazine, or television, the devil has many ways of tempting us to fall in our Christian lives. Even though the devil is powerful, we can overcome his temptations with Christ?s help.As today?s verses state, every Christian will be tempted to sin. Even though we are tempted, we do not have to fall into sin. We can have strength to overcome these temptations through Christ?s power. When Christ was on earth He was tempted, yet He resisted the devil?s temptations. Matthew 4:3-4 says, ?And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these ston... Rocking Horse Christians
2007-04-27 17:02:00 Rowland Hill, the great evangelist and preacher, visited once a home and saw a child riding a rocking horse. After watching the little boy for some time, he said with his natural wit, "He reminds me of certain Chris tians . There is plenty of motion, but no progress." Such "rocking horse" Christians are in evidence everywhere in the professing church. They are running here and there; they are taken up with much service; social service, charitable service; and service for different kinds of improve-ments. There is almost a perpetual motion in "Churchism" today. But where is the real spiritual progress? Like the child on the rocking horse, there is no progress; and sometimes with all the motion, getting nowhere, the rocking horse instead of remaining stationary, slips back. Real spiritual progress is not achieved by continual motion in Christian service. It is conditioned on two things: The first is prayerful, daily study of the Bible. This takes time. We do not mean the mere reading ... More About: King , Horse
To Love Jesus
2007-04-26 22:41:00 To love Jesu s is to long to be with Him. To love Jesus is to think about Him. To love Jesus is to obey Him, to obey Him readily and implicitly, not feebly and reluctantly. The certainty of heaven is assured when we keep Jesus in the center of our hearts, in the center of our lives. He is to be the author of impulse and desire, of effort and action. "Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus." Will you get to heaven? What is Jesus to you? Does He charm you? Does He draw you heavenward? Is it to be with Him that you seek heaven? Is He the fairest flower in all its garden? Is He the rarest and most precious of all its jewels? Is He sweeter than all its songs? Does He beget the longings for its blissful abodes? Does the desire to see and be with Him stir the profoundest ambition of your soul? Jesus and heaven are bound up together. To love Him with an untold passionate devotion is heaven begun, heaven continued, and heaven ended. Paul says: "I am now ready t... More About: Love
Temporal "god" or Eternal GOD?
2007-04-24 19:38:00 Recently, I read a passage from Psalm 72. In verse 17 it says, "His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed." This verse is speaking of how God's name will endure forever. Notice where it says "his name shall be continued as long as the sun". In the world today, we see many people and their so-called gods. Whether it is a wooden idol, car, boat, money, etc, we see people worshipping or putting their whole lives into their gods. These "gods" are merely earthly things that will one day burn up, rot, be destroyed. (We even hear of people who are buried with their prized possessions (gods). In I Timothy 6:7 we read, "For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." We didn't bring anything into this world when we were born, and we're not going to take anything out when we die....even if we are buried with them.) I ask you, is your "god" te... It's Dark Outside
2007-04-24 05:01:00 (I read this from another fellow blogger's site, and thought each of you might be interested in reading it)Today, people all across America, and even throughout the world, are trying to make sense out of yesterday's insane rampage. A lot of fingers are already starting to be pointed, and a lot of accusations will probably be made in the coming days, weeks and months. Some of the accusations maybe justified, many will not be justified. Why would someone do something like this? There's only one answer - sin. The destructive spirit of our sin nature causes people to do many unspeakable things. Taking the life of another without just cause, is about the worst thing many do to others everyday. When our sin is multiplied with Satanic influence, unstable minds, and real or perceived wrongs, the consequences tend to be horrific. Today, we often try to explain away our sin. We blame it on our childhood, our parents, our circumstances, our disabilities, medical and mental problems. Sometime... More About: Dark , Outside , Side
Acceptable To Whom?
2007-04-24 04:39:00 Recently, we talked about Psalm 19:14. " Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." This verse is a prayer of David to God, saying that he wants the words that come out of his mouth and the meditation (or thoughts) of his heart to be acceptable in God's sight. This verse ought to be the constant prayer of every Christian. But, as I thought on this passage, I was reminded of another verse in Luke 6. Verse 45 says, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." The end of this verse says that whatever is in the heart will come out in your actions or words. This verse reminds me of so many "Christians" today whose heart is not right. They think about things they shouldn't and they may fool everybody on the outside, but is w... More About: Tabl , Table , Accept
Bit by a Serpent
2007-04-20 17:30:00 John 3:14 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:" When the Israelites were brought out of slavery in Egypt they were excited. Just like a good old time revival meeting there was some shouting going on. One day they were slaves and held hostage and the next they were free men and woman to leave. No doubt they were singing and rejoicing as they were walking farther and farther from the Egyptians. Things seemed to go good until they ran into problems. They ran into the Red Sea, and what did they do? They complained. After God delivered them from the Red Sea they sang and rejoiced because God delivered. They got hungry, and what did they do? They complained that Moses brought them out into the desert to die. God delivered them again and they rejoiced. This last event is recorded in Numbers 21, and what did God do?Numbers 21:6 "And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel di...
So Much To Praise Him For...
2007-04-19 05:43:00 In my Bible reading this morning, one passage I read from was Psalm 34. In verse one it says, "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth." After sharing this in Bible time, I began to think of reasons why we should praise the Lord. Listed below are ten reasons: We should praise Him for our salvation. Psalm 40:1-3 "I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD." We should praise Him for His wonderful works. Psalm 150:2 "Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness." We should praise Him for His faithfulness. Isaiah 25:1 "O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of... More About: Much
Exalting Yourself Before All???....Prepare For A Great Fall!!!
2007-04-17 22:25:00 Today, in Bible time, one passage we talked about was Matthew 23:12. " And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." This verse explains that those who lift THEMSELVES up will be abased. But, on the other hand, those who humble themselves will be lifted up by God. Another verse in relation to this passage is James 4:10. "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." A good example of this is found in I Kings, chapter 1. In this chapter, David is growing old and is almost ready to die. One of his sons, Adonijah, lifts HIMSELF up, (in verse 5), by making himself king. But, King David had promised his wife, Bathsheba, that Solomon would reign. So, Bathsheba went and told the King what his son had done. King David then made Solomon king and Adonijah was eventually killed. This is just one of many examples that proves this passage true. As Proverbs 27:2 says, "Let another man praise thee, and not... GOD'S TIMING IS ALWAYS BEST!
2007-04-17 01:07:00 I have learned some valuable lessons about God and time: 1. God does not fulfill HIS will by OUR clocks.2. God does not agonize over the passing of time (for TIME DOES NOT ALTER THE ETERNAL ONE). 3. That which is TRUE is not affected by the passing of time, because GOD IS TRUTH.4. Personal security rests in the TIMELESS WORK OF CHRIST, not in our achievements with time. 5. Time represents the believer's opportunities for OBEDIENCE TO GOD, not opportunities to accumulate earthly treasures.LEAVE THE TIMING IN YOUR LIFE TO GOD, BUT DO NOT FAIL TO "REDEEM THE TIME" GOD HAS GIVEN YOU. God?s Preacher
2007-04-10 03:36:00 There are many men standing in the pulpits of our churches who are not "God?s preachers." What sort of man shall "God?s preacher" be? He should be one who has a definite call from God to preach the Gospel of Christ. He should be a man after God?s own heart. His one desire should be to please the Lord and to conform to the image of His Son.He should be a man who studies the Word of God daily. He should be a man who has control of his house, and he should love his own wife and leave all other women alone. His lifestyle should be above reproach. He should pay all his debts and his word should be his bond."God?s preacher" should love every member of his congregation. He should have no favorite sheep. He should treat each member the same. Their troubles and sorrows should be his, and their joys should be shared. He should teach them the path in which they should walk, He is to reprove, rebuke and exhort without favor."God?s preacher" should never speak evil of one member in the presence ... DYING TO SELF!

Jesus Christ or Mickey Mouse?
2007-04-04 04:23:00 This world is a vast fantasy land for children. America leads the way. Seventy percent of all Americans have been to either Disneyland or Disney World. Children give great adoration towards fantasy characters from Mickey Mouse to SpongeBob. Television, movies, cartoons, video games, computer games, and the internet all compete for a child?s undivided attention. On the other hand, sixty percent of all children in America, twelve years of age or under, have never been inside of any type of church! The average youth in our country can only name two or three of the Ten Commandments. Fantasy and relativism have kept our children from considering the claims of Jesus Chris t .Barring something traumatic, a child?s psychology, is usually set by age five. Whether teens or adults live in fantasy and have a hard time coping with reality or they live in reality and have a hard time tolerating fantasy often depends on the influences they are subject to in the first five years of their life. Never Try to Manage Your Anger
2007-03-31 10:09:00 If a poisonous snake got into your house, imperiling your wife and children, would you try to manage it or get rid of it? How about a rabid raccoon? A demented dog?Anger has killed, abused or threatened more people than all the snakes, dogs, and rabid animals in the world combined. Yet we coddle the angry and put down the dog.?Anger management? is the latest ?rage? of the psychobabble world. Angry people are told that they will never overcome their anger but can bring it under control. The problem is that wrath, like a shotgun, only has to go off once to hurt someone. Many wives live in terror of their ?good husbands? who just have a little ?anger problem.?Never try to manage your anger problem ? get rid of it!?But,? you ask, ?how??The answer is ? power! More Noble Than They?
2007-03-29 20:40:00 Yesterday in Bible time, Momma shared from I Corinthians 2:15. " But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man." This verse talks about the spiritual man and how that he "judgeth all things". My Bible had another word for judgeth in my center column and that word was discerneth. So, those that are spiritual discern all things. They can discern whether those things are evil or good. That's why many of our cults today have many former baptists in their religion. Why? Because they were approached when they were "young" in the Lord and didn't have the spiritual discernment to see the evil. But, how do we get this discernment? We must stay in God's Word and search the scriptures daily. It talks about this in Proverbs 2:1-9. Verses 10 & 11 of that same chapter gives the results of receiving wisdom and understanding from God's Word ~ discretion! A good example of this is in Acts 17:10,11. Verse 11 tells us that the Bereans received the Wor... More About: More , Noble
Should Christians Tithe?
2007-03-11 14:42:00 A growing fad among some Chris t ian s is to deny tithing under the New Testament. Since there are no specific directions for tithing in the New Testament, they rejoice that they can avoid this duty. So they leap on the no-tithing bandwagon and roll out their rabid rhetoric. It is time to take off their wheels and let the water cover them. What is a tithe? It is 10% of income or assets returned to God for His faithfulness and mercy.Did Old Testament saints tithe? Yes, the Law of Moses required tithing. Israelites gave 10% annually to the Levites, 10% annually on feasts for worship, and 10% every third year for the Levites and poor. They gave about 23 1/3% annually (Numbers 18:20-32; Deut 14:22-29)! Were tithes the same as offerings? No, tithes were required giving. Israel owed the Lord tithes by obligation of His commandments. The soul offering, freewill offerings, sacrifices, and vows were all above and beyond tithes (Ex 30:15; Deut 12:6,17; I Chr 22:5,14; 29:2-5; Mal 3:8).Did the ti... More About: Christians , Should
Go To the Cross, Then Get On the Cross
2007-03-09 16:04:00 Galatians 6:14, “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Introduction: I’d like to talk about the two crucifixions today: Christ’s and ours. Notice our text verse. This was spoken by the Apostle Paul. One would think that Paul had a lot to glory in. He had quite a resume of what God had done through him. But he said he would only glory in what Christ had done. I want to talk to you today about the cross, and how we should glory in it.1. You must go to the cross. This is something we must do by faith. The cross is not still standing in Jerusalem today. This is referring to what the cross means and what it stands for. The cross is absolutely essential to the saving of our souls.Paul once said, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what... Don't Leave the Same Way You Came In
2007-02-23 16:14:00 Read: Ezekiel 46:1-24Ezekiel continues to describe the order of worship for the kingdom temple. The inner eastern gate must be opened only for Sabbaths and new moons (v.1). The prince will enter at this gate and the priests will prepare his offering there (v.2). The prince will both enter and exit by the eastern gate (v.8). Yet, the people approach and depart the temple differently. “But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.” (v.9).God forbade the people to leave His house the same way they came in. What a lesson! David rejoiced when he was told, “Let us go into the house of the LORD” (Psalm 122:1). But when he left God’s house, he had changed... More About: Leave , Same

But allow me to ask you this simple question, what if?What if America weren’t free? What if religious liberties were stripped away? What if worshipping God meant complete secrecy? What if reading your Bible could only be done in the privacy of your home? What if praying could only be done silently? What if witnessing of Him meant constant awareness of who was watching you? 2007-02-20 02:23:00 Last night, Pastor preached from Numbers 21:4-8. "And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live." Worldliness
2007-02-18 01:04:00 2 Corinthians 6:17 "Be ye separate..." A story is told of a gentleman who had a splendid singing canary. A friend wanted to see if he could teach his sparrows to sing by keeping the canary with them. He borrowed it and placed it in the cage with the sparrows. Instead, however, of teaching them to sing, the poor bird got so timid among the strange birds that it stopped singing altogether, and did nothing but chirp like the sparrows. The owner then took it back, but still it would not sing. It then occured to him to put it beside another canary which sang well. This had the desired effect, and, regaining the old note, it sang as well as ever. Many Christians go, like the canary, into the strange company of worldlings, and consequently, they not only do not teach the world to sing their happy glorious note of praise, but they cannot sing the old songs of praise in a strange land themselves, and soon they learn the sorrowful note of the world. The best thing for such is to go back again... More About: World , Ness , Line , Lines
Through The Fire
2007-02-16 03:38:00 Job 42:12 "So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning"Through his griefs Job came to his heritage. He was tried that his godliness might be confirmed. Are not my troubles intended to deepen my character and to robe me in graces I had little of before? I come to my glory through eclipses, tears, death. My ripest fruit grows against the roughest wall. Job's afflictions left him with higher conceptions of God and lowlier thoughts of himself. "Now," he cried, "mine eye seeth thee. And if, through pain and loss, I feel God so near in His majesty that I bend low before Him and pray, "Thy will be done," I gain very much. God gave Job glimpses of the future glory. In those wearisome days and nights, he penetrated within the veil, and could say, "I know that my Redeemer liveth." Wanted: Faithful Men
More articles from this author:2007-02-15 20:25:00 There is an incredible famine of faithfulness in these days. Many churches could take Proverbs 20:6 as their theme verse— “Most men will proclaim every man his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?” Thank God that the Apostle Paul found one in Timothy. To that young preacher Paul issued the following command from the Holy Ghost: “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2). Every God-called, Spirit-led pastor desires to commit the truth to “faithful men.” But, the sad fact is that there are few that qualify for the training! Many that profess Christ are unfaithful men — unfaithful to the Word, the work, the war, the worship of God, and some are even unfaithful to their wives. Here’s a challenge, sir — BE A FAITHFUL MAN!
