Where Did Cain Find His Wife?
2007-01-23 21:28:00
The following is the paraphrased essence of on of the critical junctures in American history. The scene is the 1923 Scopes Monkey Trial, and defense attorney Clarence Darrow had goaded prosecuting attorney Williams Jennings Bryan to take the stand in defense of the Bible. Mr. Bryan. the defense has one final question,' Where did Cain find a wife?'" "I don't know." " Could you repeat your answer Mr. Bryan? The entire nation is listening via radio broadcast and this is a pretty basic and simple question. Let me rephrase it. If, as the Bible claims, Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and no other people existed, who did their son Cain find to marry?" "I don't know." Darrow made Bryan appear foolish, because he did not know scripture well enough to defend the most basic of questions. This trial marked a turning point in American education, because for the first time the Bible was openly ridiculed. Bryan's inability to answer simple and logical questions was one factor allow...

When Were Angels Created?
2007-01-23 21:24:00
The Bible says in Exodus 20:11 that God made everything in those six days, heaven and earth and everything in them. The angels had to be made during the first six days, although the Bible doesn't state when. Several references seem to say that the angels rejoiced when the earth's foundations were laid, they must have been created early in the week. See Job 38:4-7. This passage may be referring to the angels watching the original creation or it may be they were watching the establishing of the earth's new continental levels after the flood. I don't know for sure. Dr. Kent Hovind

When did Satan fall from Heaven?
2007-01-23 21:22:00
I believe the Genesis account is to be taken literally just as it was written. It teaches the world was created in six, twenty-four hour days about 6000 years ago; there was no gap. There was no period of time before the original creation. There was actually no time. God made time as well as matter and space. I do not think that Satan fell from heaven until about one hundred years after the creation. He could not have fallen before the creation because he was spoken about in the book of Ezekiel as being good while in the garden. Look at Ezekiel 28:13-15, "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast w...

Was there Death Before Adam Sinned?
2007-01-23 21:20:00
The Bible teaches that death entered the world because of man's sin. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin: and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" Romans 5:12 "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses," Romans 5:14 "For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead." I Corinthians 15:21-22 "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."Some Christians are committed to the idea that the earth is billions of years old. The biggest obstacle to this is the fact that there would be death before sin. These teachers often say that there was death before sin since Adam would have eaten (and killed) plants. This assumes, of course, that plants are alive in the Biblical sense. While there are hundreds of verses dealing with man dying the following scriptures will show that plants do not die in the same sense that a man or animal dies. Just as a computer is a complex machine able to run f...

The Baptists and the Amish
2007-01-23 21:18:00
I am, without apology, an independent fundamental Baptist. As a new Christian, I was raised up spiritually on the preaching of Jack Hyles, John R. Rice, Bob Gray, Lee Roberson, Bob Jones and Tom Malone. My pastor was Loren Dawson who operated (and still does) The Gospel Tape Ministry with over 10,000 sermons on tape from all of the great fundamentalists of this century. Pastor Dawson fed me a steady diet of great sermon tapes for over ten years. I graduated from Midwestern Baptist College (an independent Baptist college) in 1974, pastored an independent Baptist Church and started an independent Baptist Christian school. I have, for 33 years, been an unwavering, uncompromising fundamentalist. I am deeply concerned, however, for my fellow fundamentalists. I am much afraid that we will go the way of the Amish if certain attitudes are not corrected rapidly. I know that many of the Amish people are saved and love the same God that I love. I was raised in a Mennonite church as a child. I ...

Sec. II ? Give me Liberty, or give me Death!

Patrick Henry Shocked! From page 15 of the "Citizens Rule Book" Young Christian attorney Patrick Henry saw why a JURY of PEERS is so vital to FREEDOM! It was March 1775 when he rode into the small town of Culpeper, VA He was totally shocked by what he saw! There, in the middle of the town square was a minister tied to a whipping post, his back laid bare and bloody with the bones of his ribs showing. He had been scourged mercilessly like JESUS, with whips laced with metal.Patrick Henry is quoted as saying: ?When they stopped beating him, I could see the bones of his rib cage. I turned to someone and asked what the man had done to deserve such a beating as this.?SCOURGED FOR NOT TAKING A LICENSE! The reply given him was that the man being scourged was a minister who refused to take a license. He was one of twelve who were locked into jail because they refused to take a license. A license often becomes an arbitrary control by government that makes a crime out of what ordinarily would no...

Is God getting old?
2007-01-23 21:14:00
This is an interesting question that reflects a common human tendency. People often try to put our human limitations on God. The God of the Bible does not have our limitations. It is difficult to comprehend God as not being affected by time, space or matter like we are. There is a story that may help explain how God is beyond understanding. Suppose there were two flat people represented by two rectangular pieces of paper. These flat people lived on a tabletop. We will call them Mr. Flat and Mrs. Flat and the place they live in and understand is called Flatland. They are two-dimensional beings and live in a two dimensional world. They have no concept of the third dimension. They can see only one dimension (width) but they can perceive two, length and width; just as humans can see two dimensions, length and width and perceive a third, depth. (Hence, the term "depth perception.") Now suppose that a three-dimensional being (a human) wished to meet and explain himself to Mr. and Mrs. F...
History Validates the Resurrection
2007-01-23 21:12:00
Christianity is a faith based on factual events which really happened in time and space. It is not a mystical faith based on good feelings. The miracles of Jesus were his calling card; i.e., the validation of his claim to be God. The resurrection was his proof of identification. Even more importantly, the death and resurrection of Jesus were God's method for sinful mankind to stand forgiven before him. God's nature demands payment for wrong, yet he is merciful beyond comprehension. How can these two contrasting sides of God be reconciled? Without the factual nature of the resurrection, Christianity is nothing but smoke and mirrors; just another spiritual attempt to explain reality based on man's opinions. In spite of the historical accuracy of the Bible, there have been many alternative explanations for the missing body of Christ. Liberal theologians have even speculated that Christ's body ended up in a ditch. Yet Jewish law would have never allowed this. The two most prevalent...

Created and Made

While my son was in Jackson Hole Bible College one of his teachers began teaching a modified version of the gap theory/day-age theory. My son was torn up by the confusion it caused in his mind so I wrote this letter to help him see the subject clearly.Dear Eric,It's 3 a.m. and I can't sleep for thinking of you and praying for you. I'm in Missouri having a great meeting. As I was preaching today on my seminar 1B about the gap theory and the ruin restoration theory, I was stuck once again by the importance on the subject and was nearly overwhelmed with anguish by the thought that I have sent my son off to school to study to join my ministry team only to have him taught something I am so vehemently against. I nearly lost my train of thought as I was preaching. For the first time in years I got confused in my seminar as my mind was filled with grief for what has happened to you.Had I known that the school there had a teacher that taught the ruin restoration theory I would never have ...

Where Have All the Remnants Gone?
2007-01-22 20:10:00
Stars are spheres made up primarily of compressed gases that are millions of times larger than the earth. Like everything else in our universe, they eventually wear out. At a certain point in the life time of a very massive star, it implodes upon itself releasing energy exceeding the output from an entire galaxy. This supernova results in a center that is so dense that it cannot collapse further, and the rest of the stellar debris spreads outward. These super-nova remnants (the collapsed center and the spreading debris) should be detectable for millions of years after the implosion. Based on what we currently know about stars, scientists estimate that a galaxy the size of the Milky Way (our galaxy) should have one supernova approximately every 25 years. This is based on historical observations over the last 2000 years. If our galaxy is 10 to 20 billion years old, millions of supernova remnants actually observed indicates the age of our galaxy. However, if Dr. Humphreys is correct (t...

Physics Show That Six Day Creation is Possible
2007-01-22 20:08:00
Exodus 20:11 makes one of the most unbelievable statements of the Bible: "In six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day." It is hard to imagine a clearer statement defining how long God took in creating the entire universe. However, this simple statement has presented a seemingly impossible dilemma for Christians. On one hand, modern cosmology teaches that the universe has taken billions of years to form. On the other hand, if this clear and straightforward statement of the Bible can not be trusted to mean what it says, how can we know that any statement of the Bible can be trusted to mean what it says? This was the dilemma which Dr. Russell Humphreys (physicist at Sandia National Laboratory) set out to solve as he studied what the Bible had to say about the formation of our universe. Most people have been taught that the universe is the result of a gigantic explosion called the "Big Bang". During this explosive expansion, a...

More Clues That the Earth is Young
2007-01-22 20:06:00
Evolution assumes that man dropped out of the trees 1 to 5 million years ago and became fully human approximately 100,000 years ago. Yet archeological records show civilization arising only about 5,000 years ago (based on evolutionary thinking). In other words, by evolutionary reasoning, it took mankind 95,000 years after becoming fully human to figure out that food could be produced by dropping a seed into the ground! It has been estimated by evolutionary anthropologists that the earth could have easily supported 10 million hunter/gatherer type humans. To maintain an average of 10 million people, spread over the entire planet, with an average life span of 25 years, for the last 100,000 years . . . .would mean that 40 billion people had lived and died. Archeological evidence clearly shows that these "stone age" people buried their dead. Forty billion graves should be easy to find. Yet only a few thousand exist. The obvious implication is that people have been around for far less ti...

Differences in the Creation Event and the Big Bang Theory
2007-01-22 20:04:00
Before we can accept a theory of origins as being absolute, we much first examine it in light of scripture. This examination must be done with the big bang theory as well. There are some places where the Modern Big Bang Theory (MBBT) and Scripture agree, such as the fact that there was a beginning of space, matter, and a time - as indicated in the first verse of Genesis. Also, Scripture teaches that the heavens were stretched out, as does the MBBT. However, although there are a couple agreements between the two, we must not commit the fallacy of a verified prediction. That is to say, ?Because the Bible says there was a beginning to space, time, and matter, and so does the MBBT, that means the MBBT theory is true.? Other theories (such as Humphrey?s white hole cosmology) have other method to explain the beginning of space, time, and matter. The MBBT and scripture do not agree on many parts, and this is the focus of our discussion now. Firstly, the time frame is vastly different. The ...

What Happened To The Dinosaurs?
2007-01-22 04:34:00
Although the monstrous creature was obviously a vegetarian, its size was overwhelming. Its hips could withstand the enormous force of each pounding step and its midsection was a mass of muscle. Its gigantic tail extended far behind him, not unlike a giant cedar tree swaying behind his body. Its bones were like steel girders with ribs like iron bars to support his enormous weight. This is the greatest creature to roam the swamps and rivers of the earth. Is this a scene from the blockbuster movie, Jurassic Park? It could be, but it isn't. This description, which perfectly fits an Apatosaurus, is a paraphrased description taken from one of the oldest books of the Bible, Job 40:15-24. If dinosaurs have been extinct for 65 million years, how could a writer of the Bible have accurately described the appearance, food, and habitat of this creature? The vast majority of books on dinosaurs are written from an evolutionary perspective which assumes that the dinosaurs died out 65 million year...

Big Problems With The Big Bang
2007-01-21 20:52:00
It has been demonstrated both mathematically and experimentally that time is not a constant, but is dependent on the gravitational pull at the location where time is being measured. This concept was first proposed by Albert Einstein and is called gravitational time dilation. Numerous experiments seem to indicate that this strange concept is true. For instance, time moves 5 microseconds per year slower at the Royal Greenwich Observatory (which is located at sea level) than it does at the National Bureau of Standards in Boulder, Colorado (which is 1 mile above sea level). Atomic clocks flown around the world in different directions seem to vary by the amount predicted by Einstein?s equations. The direct result of this gravitational time dilation is that seemingly strange things happen to time near areas of space known as black holes. A black hole is an area where matter is so concentrated that its gravity prevents even light from escaping. Indirect observations seem to indicate that ...
