Well good afternoon readers and dear friends. As you may have noticed a lot of my posts have swapped from the morning to afternoon that way I can accommodate the tasks that I have now on my radar. Well we just finished with looking at the training of the Christian soldier, I am praying as to what the Lord would have me to look at next. I sincerely hope and pray the all the posts on the Christian Soldier was an encouragement, not only an encouragement but a challenge to arm up and go forth in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ proclaiming the Gospel message wherever it is that God has you. In the mean time would you be praying with me about a few things going on at Calvary Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, TN. There are a lot of needs and I know that our God can meet every need that is mentioned. The First need is what is on my heart the most at the moment is our planned missions trip to Mexico. Hello and good afternoon dear friends! What a lovely past couple of days it has been weather wise here in Tennessee. Well we have made headway on the Teen building at Calvary Baptist Church and this weekend the teens are scheduled to paint it, please pray for me! Well yesterday we left off with the sandals of the gospel, which are rooted and grounded and prepared to go if need be wherever God may lead. Today we are going to look at a couple of pieces of defensive armor and the first piece of offensive weaponry. The last piece of bodily armor is the Helmet of Salvation, this piece was important for without protecting the head all the other pieces were in vain. You see if you couldn't hear the preaching then you wouldn't know what Jesus Christ did and why He did it. It also protects you from hearing stuff that you ought not to hear of you are wearing it properly. 1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; No man goes to battle without first counting the cost, and no man goes into battle without the proper equipment! What a joy it is to know that our Lord and Savior has given to us the proper equipment to go into the fray. Like every good soldier knows not only having the proper equipment is important, but maintaining that equipment is equally important. When I was in the military everything from my rucksack to my weapon was meticulously looked after, why, because it could very well save my physical life. Well a very good morning to you friends as we see another glorious day that the Lord has blessed us with to continue our study on the Christian soldier. I am torn today where to start for our core beliefs after last nights preaching. One of our faithful residences was just excitedly talking and Amening before the service even began which just made for a great time. Today I want to cover the third point in our core values area, that is excellence in all we do, or should I say do all unto the Glory of God! Good morning friends what a busy weekend. We had one saved in our Reformers Unanimous program this Friday, praise the Lord for that soul and I ask that you would pray for her. Friday we had some pretty severe storms pass through and my family received a call @ 5:30 in the morning with some bad news about my wife's grandmother, she is 92 and not doing well. The Lord did take care of it though as she was able to return home from the hospital the next day. On Thursday I said we would pick up with the training of the soldier, so here goes. In his preaching he mentioned about the fact of leading and following. We are always in a continuous cycle of leading and following whether we realize it or not. We are always following something, and inadvertly we are leading somebody. The problem is are we following the right thing, or person? I learned a couple of people from my hall were allowed to go home, what a blessing for them, and an encouragement for the others that are there! We have made some more progress on the teen building, as the Lord held of the rain on Friday for us to get the door in, however did it ever pour down on saturday! There was a great message preached on Sunday morning that had me thinking all day and night after a comment that the preacher made after he preached. The Pastor preached on the subject of a pardon, and how Christ signed our pardon with His blood on the cross of Calvary, a pardon though is only good for the individual that accepts it, so there again it is a personal decision in life, no man can force you to accept Jesus as your personal Savior, and no man can force you to free yourself from the bondage of sin through Him. We were able to complete the roof on the teen building, and get 1/2 of the floor decking laid. We will be framing in the door and getting the fascia finished off today and hopefully we can get this thing wrapped up so we can get the teenagers in there. We also had a tremendous turn out for visitation last night, there were a lot of families that showed up and we were able to cover a lot of visits. 2Th 3:1 Finally , brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: Good morning again dear friends, what a great night of preaching we had last night! God was so good to us to send some visitors also, and we are so thankful for His faithfulness. The Pastor has been walking through the book of II Thessalonians and it has been good for us as a church. Last night we were exhorted to look at what Paul was writing to them because of false teachers and a false letter that they received earlier. In the first three verses of Chp 3 Paul lays the groundwork for a productive Christian life in the faith. Yesterday was another awesome day as we (Calvary Baptist) were privileged to host our first preachers fellowship! I think our Pastor was greatly encouraged because we had a good crowd, and the preaching was excellent! Our Pastor had his Pastor, Bro. Redman in to start off the preaching and what an encouraging message it was to hear about sticking by the old time religion, the old time singing, and the old time preaching of the word. Good morning dear friends, what a wonderful and blessed day I had yesterday! Our church has the privilege over the next few days of hosting the Hinkle family while they are in town. They are such a blessing as they travel across the United States ministering to the elderly in nursing homes, senior centers, and just about anywhere they can find them! We were in three different nursing homes yesterday and what a joy it was to see them uplifted during their day, I can only imagine what it will be like when I reach that golden age. I sure hope there are still caring Christians left in this world to visit me and comfort me during my time of need! We had such a special blessing last night in our services as we had one young man come forward and accept the Lord as his personal savior! His name is Les and I ask that you would pray for him. What a wonderful night of preaching as we were hearing a sermon out of II Thessalonians chapter 2, it was encouraging to know that the Thessalonian church had on their mind what we ought to have on ours...the coming of the Lord.
