Good Friday in the Old Testament pt 2
0000-00-00 00:00:00
As we continue on in this Psalm, we must keep in mind THIS IS what it takes for salvation, no other way and nothing to added to it. When Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life, he wasn’t saying He was A way he said I’AM THE way. Salvation goes through him, and he is on the cross. When he told the disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me  Mat 16:24  The way to follow Jesus is DENY YOURSELF, not some treat like meat or some other food, but deny SELF that means deny your flesh of some carnal pleasure in favor of doing the will of the Father, as Jesus did. Did he not pray in the Garden not MY WILL but THY WILL be done. Going to the cross was the Will of the Father and Jesus was carrying it out. Now here we see Jesus saying for a follower to take up HIS CROSS that means our personal cross. Jesus went on to say For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my ...

Defeaning Silence
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Bishop lauds call to PM to end 'deafening silence' Terence Netto 9:56AM Apr 1, 2012 Bishop Dr Paul Tan Chee Ing praised an interfaith group for urging Prime Minister Najib Razak to end what the head of the Catholic Church in the Melaka-Johor said was the "PM's deafening silence" on pressing issues concerning inter-religious harmony. The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) had yesterday urged Najib to be "the leader of a responsible government that practices what it preaches." The call came as Christian NGOs and religious leaders remonstrated with the government over an education seminar in Johor yesterday that had for its theme the implication that Christian proselytisation of Muslims had reached ominous levels in Malaysia. As a consequence, the Johor education department altered the initial theme of the seminar to one that was less provocative. ...

Affirmation: I know the miracle of resurrection is for me -- That same power that raised Jesus from the dead enables me to rise out of my adverse circumstances and step into the purpose of God for my life. Since the moment we first came to Christ, there has been an updraft of the Holy Spirit, a constant drawing from God lifting us upward toward the fullness of His Presence. Lets surrender to this wind of God and allow Him to carry us into our holy future (our destiny). - Francis Frangipane The disciples did not just pray and sit around waiting for God to enter the "playing field" to convert the world on His own. They went out into the world so that the Holy Spirit might go into the World. - Reinhard Bonnke "The Lord worked with them." - Mark 16:20 Prayer, Bible study, and fasting are ways of refocusing our mind's attention away from the voice of this world and back to the voice of our Shepherd who is constantly communicating with our spirits. If we fa...

The Call In The Night
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Luke 10:25-37 The parable in the Bible talks of a good Samaritan.  As the story goes some robbers beat a man, steel all that he has and leave him for dead.  Well 2 people pass him by and do not do anything.  One man is to busy and he just passes on the other side.  The other is afraid so he rushes also.  I always saw this story as being a good neighbor and treat other as you want them to treat you.  Well God taught me something different last night. My daughter left church and the things of God.  Well my daughter just had a miscarriage, and she reached out to her brother.  She shared with him about her miscarriage and all that she experienced and she did not know what to do.  I think my son was taken off guard, because he just told her to go to the hospital and that he really did not know what to do.  They hung up and so my daughter called her Grandma.  Well her Grandma my mother did not know what to do either. She...

Matthew 21:9 “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!  Hosanna in the highest! Our Scripture today is announcing, proclaiming that the King has arrived.  The crowd proclaims blessings to the One who comes in the name of the Lord, with the expectation of the new King then blessing them. Jesus has gone from an obscure, questionable Rabbi – travelling the countryside with twelve disciples to a Messiah figure – now attracting large crowds that no one can deny. For three years, Jesus has been telling those around him to keep his identity quiet.  Now it appears, on his final entrance into Jerusalem that he is accepting the crown He deserves and others expect Him to receive. A parade begins, it fulfills prophecy from the Old Testament revealing that the story is coming full circle.  God is again intervening in the plight of His people.  Israel has been oppressed since the reign of King Solomon ended. ...

Joshua 1
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Joshua 1 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8 Moses had been God's Old Testament people's leader for over forty years. Moses had now died, and Joshua was to be the new leader of God's people. God's people were finally ready to cross the Jordan River and to enter the new land that God had promised them. At this point in time God made a promise to Joshua. God said, "No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Joshua 1:5) God promised Joshua that he would always be with him each step of his life. God promised Joshua that he would always be with him to guide and sustain him. With God on His side Joshua would experience success in his life. This might not necessarily be success in the way...

Make a List!!!
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Jesus, I will make Your Name known anywhere You give me a platform. I will tell what You have done! You are my Lord, my God, my Savior...Abba Father, my daddy forever...You hear, You see, You are in control, Your covering IS over my life and the lives of those who love You. You send us out! Our story presses on and continues in each challenge. These are growth spurts! Growing pains. I look to You alone. You pour strength in. I will forever seek Your face. You never fail! I am fueled, fired up and built up as I remember the miracles You have done. I never tire of Your Word...it is FULL of them. As I read, faith rises! Then I remember the miracles that I have seen in my life. They are directly related to the promises in Your Word and I SOAR in fresh faith! Instead of a pro and con list about decisions I might make...I will make a miracle list! What I have seen in Your Word in the lives of Your people and what I have seen in my life. OOOO how my feet will be set to dancing! You NEVER f...

the word on GOD'S PROMISES - Friday
0000-00-00 00:00:00
What are the chances of God abandoning me when I fall? Scripture: John 10:22-30, Hebrews 13:5-6 That is an interesting question, one I think is often misread.  The question is what are the chances of GOD abandoning ME when I fall?  It doesn't ask, what are the chances of ME abandoning GOD when I fall? The scripture passage in John 10:27-28 says: My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them enternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. I've often heard it said, 'Once saved, always saved'.  I not convinced that this is the case.  I hope so, but I have my doubts.  Several times in scripture references are made that indicate that eternal life is not given easily.  The road is narrow, the eye of a needle, call Lord, Lord, but Jesus will say he did not know them.  I've always wondered, if the road is so narrow and it would be easier to pass through the eye of a needle, then why doe...

THE GREAT COMMISSION   Matthew 28:18 - 20   Jesus said: All authority has been given to Me in heaven and upon earth.   Therefore as YOU are GOING (about living your life)   MAKE DISCIPLES (imperative -- “do this”) of all the nations…   And this is how you make disciples:   BAPTIZING them into the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit   TEACHING them to keep (preserve, guard, protect, watch over) all things I have commanded you;   and behold (pay attention to this) I am with you all the days, until the completion of the age.   Luke 24:47 - 49   Jesus said: Repentance for forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in My name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.   YOU are witnesses of these things.   And behold (pay attention) I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until ...

The Transforming Power of God's Word
0000-00-00 00:00:00
God's Word is powerful. It is spirit and it is life. Reading God's words and meditating on it brings life to us. It is spiritual food for our spirit man. Just as the body needs natural food, the spirit needs spiritual food. It feeds us the will of God and the ways of God and the character of God. Reading the Word of God is important to line us up with the will of God. But it not only gives us instruction, it has within it the power to transform the human soul.    Hebrews 4: 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The Word of God is spirit and it quickens because it contains in it the power to release faith.  Romans 10:  17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Hearing God's Word allows us to believe. Once we hear the Word - the li...

Narrow and Wide
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Jesus said, "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13-14).   You won't hear those words at most funerals. You are more likely to hear someone say, "Grandpa's in a better place now."   Death does not guarantee Heaven. Only Jesus guarantees Heaven. He clearly said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).   Jesus is the narrow gate that leads to God. The sign at the gate says, "Jesus is the only way to Heaven." The sign at the wide gate says, "There are many ways to Heaven." The wide way leads away from God. Many choose the wide gate.   If Grandpa spent his life on the wide way, he is not in a better place now.   ...

Called By God 10/29/2010 Devotional
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Devotional Like Jeremiah, many Christians have ran from God's calling. They come up with a lot of reasons why they can't, yet they can't deny the calling that the Lord had placed in their heart. When you surrender to the call, the Lord will send you, and give you the words to speak. All you have to do is be obedient to the will of the Lord. Scripture Reference Jeremiah 1:7 But the LORD said to me:   "Do not say, 'I am a youth,' For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. Action Point If you feel that the Lord is calling you into the ministry, be obedient to the call. Pray and ask the Lord what He would have you do. Tell your pastor and seek out the council of others in the ministry. -- To receive devotionals via e-mail go to http://www.thirtyseconddevotional.org/abo ut.html and enter your e-mail address. Working in me
0000-00-00 00:00:00
"God can do anything, you know - far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us." (Ephesians 3:20-21; The Message) Father, thank you for the reminder that You are working within me.  Recently, there was a part of me that thought, even believed, You had given up. Left me to my own devices. And who could blame You if You did, given that even after so many years of walking with You, I struggle in areas where I should be triumphant? Thank You for being patient and persistent. Thank You for Your great mercy and abounding grace.
Fighting Back!
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ! We here at Hope Crisis Center, Inc., as well as others across Blackwell, have been claiming our city for Jesus. We openly pray and seek God's face, crying out to Him to bring this city to its knees. We believe He is going to do that. And because of our prayer, our voice and our faith in His doing, we have been under attack by the principalities and powers of the air talked about in the Word. Satan doesn't like it when Christians fight back. It makes him mad! A little over a week ago, Oklahoma had an earthquake, and our building received some structural damage, which in most cases would have sent us into a panic. However, we recognized it for what it is... an attack from the enemy. His desire was to instill fear within us, but he lost that battle. The middle of last week, on the exact same day, each person living in the center was attacked in the area of his or her health. I woke up to the pounding headache from the beginning of a...

What Social Security Means To YouÂ….
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Recently I received a statement from the Social Security Administration. This statement began with these words, “What Social Security Means To You.” And went on to show what I’ve paid in throughout my work history and projected benefits when I retire at 62, 67, or 70.  (Boy, I wish I had the money I’ve paid in to SSI and was able to invest in my own retirement plan.  I know I would be much better off!)  As I read this statement my eyes were drawn to a bolded paragraph: “Your estimated benefits are based on current law.  Congress has made changes to the law in the past and can do so at any time.  The law governing benefit amounts may change because, by 2037, the payroll taxes collected will be enough to pay only about 76 percent of scheduled benefits.” I will be 67 in 2031.  I’ll let you do the math, if you’re curious about my age.  What does social security mean to me?  Evidently, nothing beca...
Help My Unbelief 1/18/2011 Devotional
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Devotional As Christians we believe, yet often times we let our unbelief get in the way. We trust God with the little things, yet there are still doubts in our mind when we pray for miracles, and healing. As Christians, we need to confess "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" Scripture Reference Mark 9:24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" Action Point The only limitations God has are the ones we set. Pray as this father did. "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" Trust Him in every situation. Pray to the Father believing that He is able.  -- To receive devotionals via e-mail go to http://www.thirtyseconddevotional.org/abo ut.html and enter your e-mail address. Isaiah - Day 566
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Scripture:  Isaiah 31: 5 (NIV):  “Like birds hovering overhead, the LORD Almighty will shield Jerusalem; he will shield it and deliver it, he will ‘pass over’ it and will rescue it.”   Thought:  To me, God is always seeing His children, and will always protect those who love Him.   Question:  Is the blood of Jesus Christ over my “doorway” that I may be spared in the Day of Judgment?   The previous verse shows the LORD Almighty, (in the person of Jesus Christ), descending to Mount Zion to do battle against His enemies.  Today’s verse speaks of protection for His own people, Jerusalem, the home of the Jews.    “Like birds hovering overhead,”  God Almighty, whether in the person of the Father or the Son, is always “overhead”, watching out for His children and protecting them.  Birds that hover overhead are like the eagle mentioned in Proverbs 30: 18...
What Makes A Man?
0000-00-00 00:00:00
What Makes A Man?byDr. Jay Worth Allen In my last weeks of High School I was given some well meaning recommendations about what it meant to be a man: “Go to a good college.” “Date a lot of girls.”  “Be tough and fight anybody who insults your girlfriend.” “Don’t show your feelings.”  “Drink lots of beer.”  “Get a good job, work hard and make lots of money.”  Et cetera. I was sixteen at the time and my Soul-Mates and Kinfolk wanted me to be well equipped to go out into the world to become the man I was meant to be.  My grandmother gave me a Bible and told me to, “Read this everyday . . . it will make you a man.” With all this wide-ranging counsel, I knew I was destined to fail. At sixteen, I didn’t drink, do drugs or swear.  I was one of two boys who didn’t wear cowboy boots.  I wasn’t an Early Bloomer, so I shaved only once a week and was ...
Rom 13:14
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Rom 13:14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. What do you think it means to "clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ"? How would you go about doing this? We have Christ in us, so people should see Him on the outside of us also. Don’t be planning some way to have one foot back in the world, and one foot on the Lord’s side. Be sold out to the Lord. Forget about what the world has to offer, think about what our kingdom in heaven has to offer. Jos 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
Psalm 78
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Psalm 78 How passionate are we about passing the truths of the faith on to our children and grandchildren? In the Old Testament God often instructed His people to teach their children about the Lord God. God wanted His Old Testament people to always remember His many saving acts for them, and God wanted them to tell the next generations of His faithfulness to them in the past. God said to them in Deuteronomy 4:9, “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” Psalm 78:3-4 again reiterated this by saying, “What we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, His power, and the wonders He has done.” Not only were God’s Old Testament people, Israel, instructed to ...

Make-Believe Twins
0000-00-00 00:00:00
My sister Teresa and I were 15 months apart, but my mother always wanted twins.  She decided to raise us like we were twins.  We dressed alike, wore the same braided hairdo, and mom even started us in school together so we both graduated from high school in 1961.  We even shared a car (graduation present) and worked at the same company after graduation.  To this day most of our classmates still think we were twins.  (Did they forget about my leap year birthday?)  I guess you could say we were very close.      After I got saved I was hungry to learn about what the bible said, but most of the studies at church were geared for people who knew about the Word of God.  I got frustrated so pastor said, "Why don't you start a beginners bible study in your home one night a week?"  And so began a weekly tradition.      My make-believe twin sister was one of the first people t...

Anna Mae McPhail - Cancer Testimony

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT FEAR IN YOUR LIFE?  A TWO TIME CANCER SURVIVOR - A few days before my diagnosis of cancer, I heard my inner voice say this, "What are you going to do about fear in your life?" I confidently replied “I will obey the Word, for He has not given me a spirit of fear but of power and of love and a sound mind” according to the word of God in 1Timothy 1:7. A few days after that I got the news that I had a lump in my breast, and shortly thereafter a diagnosis of cancer and then I had to have a mastectomy operation. (1997 right breast)  It was hard not to be afraid and disappointed until I remembered that God had never left me in the past. He was my friend and every struggle and hard place I had been in before, he always saw me through. I began to dig into the Word. Prov. 4: 7  “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” “Let thine heart retain...

Different Kinds of Service
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Starting a couple of weeks before we returned from Maine, our church began experiencing a large influx of children. We now have the delightful problem of needing to train a number of children’s workers. This brought to mind 1 Corinthians 12: 4-6 (NLT):   “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.”   Not everyone is equipped to work with children, just as not everyone is equipped to work in a music ministry. For me, my gifts are for discipling adults, including seniors. As much as I might want to work with children, I know I would be doing it in purely my own strength and therefore, it would be wrong. However, I will continue to lift up our children’s program in prayer. I will continue to support the children’s program in a material way, a...

The Lamb of God!

1Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2“This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. 4And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb. 5Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. 7And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. 8Then they shall eat the flesh on that ni...

Most Important Value
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Fame is the No. 1 value emphasized by television shows popular with 9- to 11-year-olds, a dramatic change over the past 10 years, UCLA psychologists report in a recent study. On a list of 16 values, fame jumped from the 15th spot, where it was in both 1987 and 1997, to the first spot in 2007. From 1997 to 2007, benevolence (being kind and helping others) fell from second to 13th, and tradition dropped from fourth to 15th. source: sciencedaily.com
Promises Fulfilled
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Text:  Genesis 12:1-3 Question of the Day:  What promise has God given you that He will fulfill now? God is in the business of giving BIG promises, because He is a great God and can fulfill any promise He makes.  God first said to Abram, "Leave the country you are living in, and go to the place that I will reveal to you."  Then a promise came to them:  "I will make of you a great nation; I will bless you, and your name will be great, and you will be a blessing to others; I will pour out My rich blessings on those who treat you with respect; and I will curse those who curse you and persecute you.  The result will be this:  all families of the earth will be blessed through you."  Now that is a big promise! The point to consider here is this:  Does God give BIG promises--even today--to His children?  The answer is "Yes!"  As long as His program is still unfolding in history, and His purposes are ...
