Something to Really Think About
2007-11-20 05:29:00 The following is a story about Sir Isaac Newton. I read it some time ago but cannot find the author. Whether this conversation really took place or not.... it's something to think about."Sir Isaac Newton, the British scientist, once had a skillful mechanic make him a miniature replica of our solar system, with balls representing the planets geared together by cogs and belts so as to move in harmony when cranked. Later, Newton was visited by a scientist friend who did not believe in God.As Newton sat reading in his study with his mechanism on a large table near him, his friend stepped in. Scientist that he was, he recognized at a glance what was before him. Stepping up to it, he slowly turned the crank, and with undisguised admiration watched the heavenly bodies all move in their relative speed in their individual orbits. Standing off a few feet he exclaimed, 'My! What an exquisite thing this is! Who made it?'Without looking up from his book, Newton answered, 'Nobody.'Quickly tu... More About: Some

Our Trip to Jerusalem
2007-11-16 20:29:00 My husband and I had the awesome privilege of visiting the Holy Land this year. Our friend got us some buddy passes for an extremely, low, low cost... like 90% off!!! It was the chance of a lifetime. We are so thankful for his generosity and we had a great time with him there. Thanks Nate!!! Me and my husband standing in the Garden of Gethsemane where Christ prayed and the Atonement began, where He bled from every pore and took upon Himself all the sin, the pain, and the sufferings of this world. Calvary's Hill, also known as Golgotha. The place where my Savior was Crucified, where the Atonement was completed, where Christ said "It is finished" and “Father, into thy hands I commend my Spirit.” (John 19:30) (Luke 23:46) The Garden Tomb. The place where Christ was buried and 3 days later rose again. There is a sign on the tomb that reads "He is not here, but is risen!" As we stood inside the empty tomb, me, my husband, and my friend Nathan sang the hymn, "I Know that My Redeemer ... More About: Jerusalem , Trip
God's Way / The World's Way
2007-11-15 16:47:00 The following is just some observations I have made. It's not a poem although it's kind-of in poem format. It's basically just something I wrote randomly.I'll Choose the First.God's way...We percieve things with our hearts,And not with our eyes and ears. The world's way...We percieve things with our eyes and ears,And not with our hearts.God's way...We become more self-less.The world's way...We become more selfish.God's way...We seek after righteousness. The world's way...We seek after self-righteousness.God's way...We practice humility. The world's way...We practice "high mindedness."God’s way…We say, “thank you” more and complain less. The worlds way…We complain more and say, “thank you” less.God's way...We love more and judge less. The world's way...We judge more and love less.(including ourselves)God's way...We love to serve. The world's way...We "have to" serve.God's way...We focus on the blessings. The world's way...We focus on the scarcities.God's way...
My Prayer to God - By Alicia
2007-11-15 01:05:00 My Prayer Fill my mind with virtue,Keep it free from sin.Fill my heart with love unfeigned,Root out bitterness within.May my lips be searedFrom any unkind word,Let Thy Spirit guide my toungeSo angels can be heard.Keep me from complaint,From ever wanting more.Help me see all that I haveAnd all that lies in store.Open up my ears to hearThy will for me this day.Seal my wandering heart to TheeAnd never let me stray.Bless my hands with powerTo lift those hanging down.Fill my soul with Thy light,Make my smile heal their frown.Keep my feet upon the pathThat leads me straight to Thee.Let me walk with confidence,Trusting all I cannot see.Strip me from my foolish pride,From all desire for praise.Help me bring souls unto ChristGive Him glory all my days.To view more of my poetry, please visit my website: http://aliciarawlins.com/ More About: Alicia
