Story of Prophet Salih (PBUH)
2007-12-02 18:44:00 After the destruction of the Ad, the tribe of Thamud succeeded them in power and glory. They also fell to idol-worshipping. As their material wealth increased so, too, did their evil ways while their virtue decreased. Like the people of Ad, they erected huge buildings on the plains and hewed beautiful homes out of the hills. Tyranny and oppression became prevalent as evil men ruled the land.So Allah sent unto them His Prop het Salih (PBUH), a man from among them. His name was Salih Ibn Ubeid, Ibn Maseh, Ibn Ubeid, Ibn Hader, Ibn Thamud, Ibn Ather, Ibn Eram, Ibn Noah. He called his people to worship Allah alone, and to not associate partners with Him. While some of them believed him, the majority of them disbelieved and harmed him by both words and deeds. Salih directed them: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other AIlah (god) but Him." (Ch 11:61)"Maqam Hazrat Salih in Sinai. According to some scholars, Hazrat Salih (Peace be upon him) stayed and prayed here." Salih was known... More About: Story

?Seek refuge against five traits??
2007-12-02 13:30:00 The blessed Companion, Abdullah Ibn Umar reports that the Holy Prophet (SAW) once gave a sermon in which he said: O Emigrants, I seek refuge of Allah Almighty against five traits of character lest they should grow into you: firstly, against immodesty, for when immodesty prevails in a people they are hit by plagues, epidemics and ever-new diseases not even heard of by their elders; and secondly, against cheating in weights and measure, for when this disease grips a people, they are hit by famine, price-hikes, rigorous labour and over-work and oppressive rulers; and thirdly, against non-payment of Zakah, for when people do not pay Zakah, rains are stopped; and fourthly, against the religious apathy of people, for when a community breaks its covenant with Allah and His Messenger, then Allah Almighty makes alien enemies sit over them who snatch away what belongs to them without any justification; and fifthly, against the apathy of ruling authority, for when the rulers of a people fail ... Expectations of the Mercy of Allah (SWT)
2007-12-02 13:30:00 There once lived a pious man who was enslaved to a wicked master. The righteous slave wanted to teach his master a lesson that he would not forget, a lesson that would make him change his ways. The Master told him one day to plant wheat. The slave took the opportunity. He went and collected seeds of barley and planted them. As the season drew near, the master was enraged to see that after all this work and time the slave had planted the wrong seed. In his thrashing rage, he scolded the slave saying, ?Why did you do this?? The righteous slave said, ?I had hope that the barley seeds would come out as wheat.? The Master said, ?How can you plant barley seeds and expect it to come out as wheat?? The slave stopped and said quietly, ?How can you disobey Alla h and expect for His bounteous mercy? How can you openly challenge his Deen and hope for Jannah.? The Master was stunned and silent. He understood. ?You have taught me something today that I had never realized. You are free for the sake... More About: Mercy , Expectations
The least torture in Hell
2007-12-02 13:30:00 The severity of its heat, and their variation in it: An-Nu`man ibn Bashir (RA) narrated that he heard the Prophet(SAW) say: ?The least torture in the Hell on the Day of Judgment is that of a man whose foot sole is laid on a live coal which causes his brain to boil just like a boiler.? [Bukhari and Muslim] Muslim narrated in his Sahih: ?He does not think that any other person is tortured more severely than him although he is in the least torture.? [Muslim] Abu Huraira (RA) narrated: This fire of yours which burns the son of Adam (in this world) is the seventieth part of the heat of the Hell. They say: ?We swear by Allah, our fire is quite enough.? The Prophet said: ?It is sixty nine times more and each part of it is like the heat of your fire.?? [Muslim] Abu Huraira said that the Prophet (SAW) said: ?The Hell complained to her Rabb: O my Rabb! I am eating myself. He allowed her two breaths: One in winter and the other one in summer, and that is why you feel the heat in Summer ... More About: Torture
Temporary Beauty
2007-12-02 13:01:00 Once Malik ibn Dinar(rh) was passing through the streets of Basra, where he happened to see a female servant walking with the kind of pomp and show generally displayed by the maidservants of kings. Upon witnessing the manner of her walking Hazrat Malik called her and said,: ?O handmaid, would your master like to sell you?? She was really surprised to hear this and said, ?What? Repeat it again.? Hazrat Malik did accordingly, at which she said, ?Would a beggar like you be able to purchase me if the master agreed to sell at all?? He replied in the affirmative, adding that he could purchase a better one than her. On hearing this she laughed and ordered the servants to take the beggar along with them (just as an amusement for the master). On reaching home she narrated the event to her master, who laughed boisterously and ordered Hazrat Malik to be brought before him. When Hazrat Malik was brought forward, the master was over-awed and asked, ?What do you want?? In reply, he advised him to... More About: Beauty , Temp
The role of the mind
2007-12-02 13:01:00 A man came to Iyas Ibn Mu?awiyah, a Muslim judge famous for his wisdom, and the following conversation took place between them: Man: What is the Islamic ruling regarding wine?Judge: It is Haram (Forbidden). Man: How about water?Judge: It is Halal (Permissible). Man: How about dates and grapes?Judge: They are Halal. Man: Why is it that all these ingredients are Halal, and yet when you combine them, they become Haram? The Judge looked at the man and said: If I hit you with this handful of dirt, do you think it would hurt you? Man: It would not.Judge: How about if I hit you with this handful of straw? Man: It would not hurt me.Judge: How about a handful of water? Man: It surely would not hurt me.Judge: How about if I mix them, and let them dry to become a brick, and then hit you with it, would it hurt you? Man: It would hurt me and might even kill me!Judge: The same reasoning applies to what you asked me!! More About: Mind , Role , The Mind
The importance of Zikr (Remembrance)
2007-12-02 13:01:00 Yahya related to me from Malik that Ziyad ibn Abi Ziyad said that Abu?d-Darda had said, ?Shall I not tell you the best of your deeds, and those that give you the highest rank, and those that are the purest with your King, and are better for you than giving gold and silver, and better for you than meeting your enemy and striking their necks?? They said, ?Of course.? He said, ?Remembrance (dhikr) of Allah ta ala.? (Imam Malik: Muwatta Book 15 No 15.7.24) Malik related to me from Nuaym ibn Abdullah ibn al-Mujmir from AIi ibn Yahya az-Zuraqi from his father that Rifaa ibn Rafi said, ?One day we were praying behind the Messenger of Allah, (SAW), when the Messenger of Allah, (SAW), raised his head from ruku and said, ?Allah hears the one who praises Him? (Sami Allahu liman hamidah). A man behind him said, ?Our Lord, praise belongs to you - blessed, pure and abundant praise? (Rabbana wa laka?l hamd kathiran tayiban mubarakan fihi). How to control your desires

Please give me something to help me with it.??If you accept five conditions,? said Ibrahim, ?and are able to put them into practice, your disobedience will not cause you any problem.??Just tell me what they are, Abu Ishaq!? the man said. ?The first is that when you want to disobey Allah you do not eat anything He provides.??Then how will I get anything to eat? Everything on the earth is from Him!??So is it right to eat His provision and disobey Him at the same time?? replied Ibrahim.?No, it is not. What is the second condition?? ?When you want to disobey him, move off His land.??That is even more difficult! Exclaimed the man. ?In that case where will I live???Is it right to eat his provision and live on His land and then to disobey Him?? asked Ibrahim.?No, it is not. The Tea-cup
2007-12-02 12:40:00 There was a couple who used to go to England to shop in the beautiful stores. They both liked antiques and pottery and especially teacups. This was their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. One day in this beautiful shop they saw a beautiful teacup. They said, ?May we see that? We?ve never seen one quite so beautiful.? As the lady handed it to them, suddenly the teacup spoke. ?You don?t understand,? it said. ?I haven?t always been a teacup. There was a time when I was red and I was clay. My master took me and rolled me and patted me over and over and I yelled out, ?Let me alone?, but he only smiled, ?Not yet.? ?Then I was placed on a spinning wheel,? the teacup said, ?and suddenly I was spun around and around and around. Stop it! I?m getting dizzy! I screamed. But the master only nodded and said, ?Not yet.? Then he put me in the oven. I never felt such heat. I wondered why he wanted to burn me, and I yelled and knocked at the door. I could see him through the opening and I could r...
Hijab and Dressing of woman in Islam
2007-12-02 12:40:00 HIJAB The term hijab, includes not only the covering of body, but methods of behavior before members of the same or opposite sex, promoting privacy for females and prohibiting intermingling sexes, to ensure modesty, decency, chastity and above all, respect and worship of Allah. Minor differences exist among the scholars regarding the actual number of the requirements because of varying methods used in codifying them. The ones mentioned here represent the ones agreed upon by the overwhelming majority of scholars and are all solidly backed by firm evidence taken from the Qur?an, the Sunnah and the practice of the Sahabah (the Companions). THE EXTENT OF COVERING The dress worn in public must cover the entire body except what has been specifically excluded, based upon the following proofs: Allah says: ? And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts from sin and not show of their adornment except only that which is apparent, and draw their headcovers ... Hypocrisy
2007-12-02 12:40:00 A hypocrite is a false pretender and dissembler to virtue or piety. In the Islamic terminology, the word Hypocrisy is a substitute for ?Nifaq?. This word Nifaq has been mentioned in the Qur?an thirty-one (31) times in different forms such as: Nifaq; Munafiqoon; Munafiqat; Munafiqeen, and Nifaqan. Allah hates those people who acquire this fault, and He therefore warns them that their punishment is indeed hell. Hypocrisy in simple dictionary meanings is pretence of virtue or simulation of virtue or goodness. It is the act or practice of simulating or feigning feelings or beliefs, especially the false appearance of piety or virtue. Hypocrisy is, in fact, concealment of true character or belief, a feigning to be what one is not. Hypocrite is a person who practices hypocrisy. 2007-11-30 17:48:00 WOMAN IN THE MIRROR OF HISTORY From the study of history we find the fact that in the previous age woman was considered to be a part of wealth and property. She used to be sold and purchased like any property or animal. Illiterate Arabs of the pre-Islamic era considered woman the cause of bad luck and misfortune and buried the innocent girls alive. But Islam declared this consideration and notion wrong and unjustified. The Prophet (P.B.U.H.) fought strongly against such wrong conceptions. He considered woman as a human being like the man and that she too has the human, freedom and social rights. No body has the right to insult and look down upon her. Regretfully, the Western countries and capitalists even today imagine her to be the medium of enjoyment and time passing. On the other hand, woman in a few Islamic countries have been restrictively chained up which is also against the law of Islam, such as, they do not allow her to go to schools or visit the libraries and they do not ha... He (peace be upon him) sent with him eight men from Al-Muhajreen. Ibn Ishaq continued saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wrote for Ibn Jahsh a letter and ordered him not to look at it until he had journeyed for two days, to carry out what he was ordered to do, and not to compel any one of his companions to do so. Having journeyed for two days, Ibn Jahsh opened the letter which said: ?When you read my letter proceed forward until you reach Nakhlah between Mecca and At-Ta?if so as to lie in wait there for Quraish and find out to us their news.? The Battle of Uhud
2007-11-30 15:39:00 Prophet Said, ?Uhud is a mountain that love us and is love by us,? In this hadith, according to a group of Muslim scholars, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) meant his family - not the mountain itself - for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pass by it when returning from traveling. On the other hand, some scholars say that what is meant in the above hadith is the mountain of Uhud itself. The latter quote the following Qur?ainc verse to support their opinion, ?And others (rocks) which sink for fear of Allah. (Al-Baqrah: 74)? Quraish made the raid of Uhud in Shawwal, 3 AH. Regarding the Battle of Uhud, Allah, Most High, has revealed the following Qur?anic verses: ?(Remember that morning) thou didst leave thy household (early) to post the faithful at their stations for battle: and Allah hearth and knowth all things! Remember two of your parties mediated cowardice; but Allah was their protector, and in Allah should the faithfu...

2007-11-30 15:39:00 According to Al-Bukhari, this battle is also called the battle of Al-Muraisi. It took place, according to Ibn Ishaq, in the 6th year of Hijra. Musa Ibn Uqbah, however, said, ?It was in the 4th year of Hijra.? Az?Zuhari said, ?The story of the forged statment against Ashah (may Allah be pleased with her) was during the battle of Al-Muraisi? According to Ibn Ishaq, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) received news that Banu Al-Mustaliq were gathering together against him. Their leader was Al-Harith Ibn Abu Dirar, the father Juwairiyah, whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married afterwards. On hearing about them, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out and met them at a watering place of theirs called Al-Muraisi in the direction of Qudayd towards the shore. There was a fight and Allah put Banu Al-Mustahiq to flight and killed some of them and gave the Messenger their wives, children, an... More About: Battle
The Battle of Banu Quraizah (Breach of Faith)
2007-11-30 15:39:00 In the Glorious Qur?an, Allah, Most High, says, ?And Allah turned back the unbelievers for (all) their fury: no advantage did they gain; and enough is Allah for the believers in their fight. And Allah is Full of Strenght, Exalted in Might. And those of the people of the Book who aided them - Allah did take them down from their strongholds and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) some ye slew, and some ye made captives. And He made you heirs of their lands, their houses, and their goods, and of a land which ye had not frequented (before). And Allah has power over all things. (Al-Ahzab: 25-27)? In Sahih Al-Bukhari, we read the following narrations regarding the battle of Quraizha: Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned from Al-Khandaq and laid down his arms and took a bath, Gabriel come and said (to the Prophet) ?You have laid down you arms? In Ishaq said when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) marched from Medina to Khaibar he went by way of Isr, and a mosque was built for him there; then by way of Al-Sahbih. Then he went forward with the army until he hatted in a valley called AL-Raji, halting between the men of Khaibar and Ghatafan so as to prevent the latter reinforcing Khaibar, for they were on their side against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When Ghatafan heard about the Messenger?s attack on Khaibar they gathered together and marched out to help the Jews against him; but after a day?s journey, hearing a rumor about their property and families,... The Battle of Al-Ahzab (The Trench)
2007-11-30 15:39:00 Regarding the battle of Al-Ahzab or Al-Khandaq (the trench), Allah, Most High, revealed the following Qur?anic veres, ?O ye who believer! remember the grace of Allah, (bestowed) on you, when there come down on you hosts (to overwhelm you): but We sent against them a hurricane and forces that ye saw not: but Allah sees (clearly) all that ye do. Battle of Taif
2007-11-30 15:23:00 The warriors of Thaqif who fled from Hunayn returned to Ta'if. They closed the gates of the city after storing stocks of food enough to serve them for a year. Thus, they prepared themselves in time for another encounter with the Muslims. The Prophet (Peace be upon him) went at once to Ta'if. After establishing his camp outside the city, he set about besieging it in order to humble the enemy. The siege lingered on for sometime, but the Muslims, whose avenues of entry had already been blocked up by the defenders, were unable to enter Ta'if. Thaqif combatants were good archers, so that the thick volley of arrows released by them appeared as if they were like swarms of locusts. SIEGE OF TA'IF As the Muslims' camp was just within the range of arrows shot from the rampart of Ta'if, the Prophet (Peace be upon him) transferred it to another side of the city. The siege continued for some twenty-five to thirty nights during which the two opponents fought tooth and nail to get the b... More About: Battle

THE OCCASION OF THE BATTLE When Hawazin, a neighboring tribe of Mecca, heard the news of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the Conquest of Mecca, they made an agreement with another tribe from Ta?if, called Thaqif, to fight the Muslims and destroy them before they could spread their r... The Conquest of Mecca
2007-11-30 15:23:00 The conquest of Mecca , according to the scholars of Siyrah, took place in Ramadan in the 8th year of Hijra. In the Glorious Qur’an, Allah, Most High, says, “Not equal among you are these who spent (freely) and fought, before the victory (with those who did later). Why did Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) have Eleven wives?
2007-11-30 14:27:00 The Qur’an, in Surah Nisa, chapter 4 verse 3, states that a Muslim is allowed to marry a maximum of only four wives. Another verse in the Qur’an makes Prop het Muhammad (pbuh) an exception to this rule. In Surah Ahzab chapter 33 verse 52:“It is not lawful for thee (to marry more) women after this, nor to change them for (other) wives, even though their beauty attract thee, except any thy right hand should possess (as hand maidens) and Allah doth watch over all things “. [Al-Qur’an 33:52] This verse clearly gives Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) the permission to keep all his previous wives but prohibits him to marry any more women except those which his right hand possessed i.e. slave girls. The Prophet (pbuh) was allowed to keep all his previous wives because no one was allowed to marry the Prophet’s wives (ra) after they were divorced or widowed as they were ummul-momineen (mother of the believers). 2007-11-30 13:57:00 Umm Salama Hind bint Abi Umayya, may Allah be pleased with her, was married to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in 4 AH at the age of twenty nine, after her first husband, Abdullah ibn Abdul Asad, had died from the wounds he had received while fighting at the battle of Uhud. Umm Salama and Abdal Asad had been among the first people to embrace Islam in the early days of the Muslim community in Mecca. They had suffered at the hands of the Quraish who had tried to force them to abandon their new faith, and had been among the first group of Muslims to seek refuge under the protection of the Negus in Abyssinia. When they had returned to Mecca, believing that the situation of the Muslims had improved, they had found instead that if anything it was worse. Rather than return to Abyssinia, Abdal Asad and Umm Salama had received the Prophet’s permission to immigrate to Medina, but this proved not to be as easy as they might have imagined. SAWDA bint Zam’a (RA)
2007-11-30 13:57:00 Sawda bint Zam’a, may Allah be pleased with her had been the first woman to immigrate to Abyssinia in the way of Allah. Her husband had died and she was now living with her aged father. She was middle-aged, rather plump, with a jolly, kindly disposition, and just the right person to take care of the Prophet’s household and family. So Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave permission to Khawla to speak to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and to Sawda on the subject. Khawla went straight to Sawda and said, “Would you like Allah to give you great blessing, Sawda?” Sawda asked, “And what is that, Khawla?” She said, “The Messenger of Allah has sent me to you with a proposal of marriage!” Sawda tried to contain herself in spite of her utter astonishment and then replied in a trembling voice, “I would like that! Go to my father and tell him that.”"Muhammad son of Abdullah son of Abdul Muttalib, has sent me to ask for Sawda in marriage.” Khawla went to Zam’a, a g...

He was already well known for his honesty, truthfulness and trustworthiness. He returned from Syria after having made a large profit for Khadijah. After hearing his account of the journey, she decided that he would make the best of the husbands, even though many of the most important nobles of the Quraish had already proposed to her and had been refused, and in due course she proposed to him. After she had been made a widow when her husband was martyred at Badr, she offered herself in marriage to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who accepted her proposal and married her. Zaynab bint Khuzayma was so generous to orphans and the poor that she came to be known as the ‘Mother of the Poor’.
