Marriage Has Nothing To Do With It!
2006-12-04 14:37:01
Associated Press has a story out regarding Cardinal Claudio Hummes’ statements regarding the possibility of the clergy being allowed to be married. After reading the article. I had some concerns (as I usually do regarding religion articles in the press). Cardinal Hummus was quoted saying, “Celibacy is a discipline, not a dogma of the church. . . Certainly, the majority of the apostles were married. In this modern age, the church must observe these things, it has to advance with history.” Now I don’t know what the Cardinal actually said as of yet (the press usually takes what they want in order to support whatever agenda they might have.), but yes the Cardinal is right that the early Church did allow for the possibility of married clergy. However, it is not marriage that today’s modern priests (and lay people) seem to need, for the scandals that have been arising in the church have not been ones of adultery, rather they are those of sexual disorders (su...

Favorite Christian Artists: Red
2006-12-03 14:35:01
Red is one of the hottest bands to hit the Chris t ian Music world.  With their metalish power chords buzzing, and their lyrics delivering more than the typical happy-go-lucky message, they have helped to push Christian Rock music into a deeper, and sometimes darker realm.  Of course, it is not for the purpose of residing in these shadowy areas.  On the contrary,  as their bassist Randy Armstrong states, “I think it?s just a sign of Christian music evolving. But at the end of the day, no matter what the message is wrapped in, the music is still about redemption. How people got out of their struggles and into their relationship with God.?   With phrases like, “And this is how it feels when I Ignore the words you spoke to me. And this is where I lose myself When I keep running away from you,” the band forces dramatic imagery of what happens to the human soul when we try and horde our destiny to ourselves.   Technorati tags: Christianity, christian, music, rock, met...

Flash: Changes In The Catechism Revealed!
2006-12-03 02:34:03
The Ironic Cat holic has discovered some new changes that are being implemented into the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  Some might see these revisions as a bit unorthodox, but I submit to you an excerpt so that you may judge for yourself: On the sanctity of life:2262.1 ?You shall not kill.? The Lord?s command is simple in its clarity, yet human beings are subjected to negative influences and tempted by sin to prefer their own judgment, to wit: a) ?War is so much more exciting and to the point than diplomacy?; b) ?That?s really a pumpkin in there; it just magically turns into a baby when it comes out. Otherwise why would pregnant women?s bellies be round, hmm??; c) ?Hey, we deserve those stem cells, darn it!?; d) ?Jesus commanded us, ?Do unto others what they do unto you??; e) ?If he?s not like me, he must not really be human?; f) ?He killed me first!? But as the doctors of the Church teach, the Lord?s command omits any ambiguity: You shall not kill them in the rain. You ...

Jesus and Moses Went Golfing
2006-12-02 02:32:09
Dr. Ray Guarendi tells a humorous Joke about our Lord, and follows it up with a profoundly serious statement about our Church and Contraception. Contraception itself has seemed to be the cornerstone of my apologetic work, and (praise God) has been the topic of discussion that has won many of my friends and family back to the Church. My wife and I have practiced “>Natural Family Planning since we were married, and many people (especially Catholics who have never heard the Church’s teaching on contraception), have been fascinated by it. Unfortunately, many Christians have been flooded with the idea that contraception inside of marriage is a responsible, and noble thing to do. I would agree that prudence toward the support of your family is a great and honorable thing, but the deliberate frustration of God’s attempt to bring life into the world is not, whether it is done knowingly or unknowingly. Children are a gift from God (Ps 127:3-5), and children are alw...

Church of England: The Least of These should Live ?
2006-12-02 02:32:09
A horrendous story from the Daily Mail:   The Church of England has broken with tradition dogma by calling for doctors to be allowed to let sick newborn babies die. Christians have long argued that life should preserved at all costs - but a bishop  representing the national church has now sparked controversy by arguing that there are occasions when it is compassionate to leave a severely disabled child to die. And the Bishop of Southwark, Tom Butler, who is the vice chair of the Church of England’s Mission and Public Affairs Council, has also argued that the high financial cost of keeping desperately ill babies alive should be a factor in life or death decisions. The shock new policy from the church has caused outrage among the disabled. A spokeswoman for the UK Disabled People’s Council, which represents tens of thousands of members in 140 different organisations, said: “How can the Church of England say that Christian compassion includes killing of disa...

Nothing Says ?Youve Been Dissed? Quite Like a Bibl?
2006-12-02 02:32:09
Have you ever been in a heated discussion with someone, when all of a sudden it turns in to verbal abuse?  I haven’t, but if I had I would quickly run to my computer and go to the Ship-of-Fools Biblical Curse Generator.  Here’s an example of the power behind this little contraption: Calvin the Calvanist:  You Mary woshippers are all alike.  See you in hell, if that’s where you are destined to go! Me (with a lil help):  Harken, thou discourager of the brethren, for you will have more mother-in-laws than King Solomon!  Calvin: I haven’t seen cursing like that since I read 1 Kings 18!  I’m sorry! Some results may vary, but you get the idea.     Technorati tags: christianity, catholic, humor, funny, catholicism

I had posted a small clip of this video a while ago, but I came across even more of this amazing display of true manhood and self-giving. This is what the priesthood is about. This is what Christianity is about. This is what we need to preach. Amen, amen, amen. Definitely one of the best Christian groups I?ve heard. Unfortunately, they no longer exist as a group anymore. They recently stopped touring due to difficulties some of the members had with being on the road, but they still have a large following that spreads their music around. The video is of their song called ?One time?, which speaks of one time shot we are given on earth to become what God wants us to be. Enjoy!

Oh and. . . Super Wise Quote of the Week
2006-08-11 19:45:01
G.K. Chesterton"The truth is, of course, that the curtness of the Ten Commandments is an evidence, not of the gloom and narrowness of a religion, but, on the contrary, of its liberality and humanity. It is shorter to state the things forbidden than the things permitted: precisely because most things are permitted, and only a few things are forbidden."

Terror in the Skies Thwarted!
2006-08-11 19:45:01
A terrorist plot to explode multiple airliners over the Atlantic was thwarted last night (Praise God). The plotters, 21 of which have been caught so far, attempted to smuggle liquid explosives on board multiple United Airlines, American Airlines, and Continental Airlines flights that were headed from Great Britain to the United States. Officials stated that the plot was well organized and suggestive of Al Qaeda. Read more about the thwarted mass murder here, here, and here.Praise God that nobody was hurt.
