Back from an Extended Leave
2009-04-01 01:12:00
It's been a few months since the last post.  The primary reason for this was because I was on military deployment and it was a little difficult to manage a website among every other responsibility.  However, now that I am back in the States and everything is back to normal, I should be able to resume this site, as well as Agnus Daily.  Thank you for your prayers and understanding.  God bless!

More on Why Evolutionists Would Make Good Christians
2008-12-01 21:50:00
I've been thinking a lot lately on the the good that comes from those who adhere to the modern evolutionary view. I wrote about some of these so-called virtues in a previous article titled, Why Evolutionists Would Make Good Christians , and what continually strikes me as odd is how often virtues that are praised by Christians are magnified in secular evolutionary thought. The Writing is Not on the WallModern evolutionary thought seems to be heavily dominated, not by the empirical sciences (i.e. archeology and chemistry), but by a type of pseudo-anthropology. It is thought that is soaked in faith and touched up with science. We often hear of the life of prehistoric man. We know stories of the caveman who hunted and foraged for food, warred against neighboring cavemen and tribes, and were generally more animalistic and barbaric than we are today. We hear these tales and take for granted the fact that, not much is really known about prehistoric man simply because he was just that ? preh...

The Art of Manliness: Are You a Real Man?
2008-10-05 11:56:00
It?s not often that you come across a site that is not just information, but also inspires you to be better.  The Art of Manliness, a blog created by Brett and Kate McCay, seeks to reclaim the lost art of manliness.  Rather than promoting sexual promiscuity and six-pack abs, The Art of Manliness blog instructs men on things as simple as good manly hygiene and appearance, to more complex topics such as family relationships and careers.  What makes this blog absolutely unique is it?s rejection of modern ?manly? social norms.  For example, the authors of the site are very explicit in their negative view of pornography, and give great examples as to its harmful effects on men.  Typically you would expect a blog that espouses counter-cultural views such as the acceptance of pornography to have overt religious overtones riddled throughout each topic.  However, the site stays away from the religious.  Rather, the authors promote their views by using traditional American and European conduc...

The Five Best Sites for Modern Catholics
2008-09-17 10:44:00
Sometimes it's difficult to find places on the web that have up-to-date information on Catholicism and its teachings on theological, moral, and social issues.  The majority of Catholic based sites are either outdated, or focus solely on Catholic news, rather than issues that affect the Church or individual belief.  Below are 5 sites that are exceptional in presenting the Catholic worldview effectively on a wide range of pertinent topics. Catholic Answers - When it comes to apologetics, the guys at Catholic answers are by far the leaders in the field.  I personally do not care too much for their written resources on the site, but their radio show is absolutely invaluable.  The guests on their show are always relevant, and often they have shows dedicated to a particular topic of interest.  They also have Q and A shows that are focused primarily on audience questions.  I highly recommend subscribing to their radio podcast. Biblical Evidence for Catholicism - This website (operated by...

Five Steps to More Effective and Persuasive Apologetics
2008-09-16 10:01:00
Because of the various religious and non-religious worldviews in our society, it has become necessary to have some knowledge of apologetics. For those that do not know what apologetics is, it is the study or method of defending your faith through reason. There are a vast amount of resources on the Internet that deal specifically with apologetics, but information is not enough. Apologetics is somewhat of an art, and in order to be effective, you have to know how to argue, prepare, and conduct yourself. 1. Know your audienceThe foundation of an apologetic discussion is knowing who your audience is. This little bit of information makes or breaks an argument. All too often you see Christians argue from a biblical point of view with members of another faith, or with atheists and agnostics. In reality, that is about as effective as trying to fit a round block through a square hole. For example, if you are Christian, and a Muslim is debating with you about a religious issue, would you reg...

Why Dual-Booting with Linux is Still Necessary
2008-09-15 09:22:00
As you probably noticed from other posts, I am a big advocate for using Linux distributions.  The Linux operating system is versatile, constantly updated, and free (my favorite part).  However, there are times in which Linux simply will not do what I would like it to do.  New applicationsOne of the most frustrating things about Linux is that commercial developers typically do not make versions of their applications that work on Linux.  Furthermore, sometimes there is no open source alternative that you can turn to that fully integrates the features that you desire.  For example, as far as music is concerned, there is no application that has flexibility of iTunes.  Unfortunately, if you want to use iTunes on a Linux machine you will either have to use Wine, which isn't always up to date in regards to compatibility, or use a virtual terminal.  Yes, there are apps such as Amarok or Banshee that pretty much do what iTunes does (and they do some things better), but nothing works with iP...

Why Passion Will Cost Republicans the 2008 Election
2008-09-10 00:12:00
"I do not speak of fools, I speak of the wisest men; and it is among them that the imagination has the great gift of persuasion. Reason protests in vain; it cannot set a true value on things. This arrogant power, the enemy of reason, who likes to rule and dominate it, has established in man a second nature to show how all-powerful she is. She makes men happy and sad, healthy and sick, rich and poor; she compels reason to believe, doubt, and deny; she blunts the senses, or quickens them; she has her fools and sages; and nothing vexes us more than to see that she fills her devotees with a satisfaction far more full and entire than does reason".  -Blaise Pascal As much as I hope the Republicans will take this election, it seems to me that they will lose if they do not correct an increasingly dangerous flaw in the party: boredom. One only needs to turn on the television to see the difference in each party's attempt to reach the populous. At the Democratic National Convention you had ...

4 Must-Have Apps for Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron)

I recently installed the newest stable version of Ubuntu Linux, Hardy Heron (8.04), and I am very impressed.  Not only is the operating system fantastic, but the applications that you can use with it are great and have become much easier to install.  With that, I thought I'd give my opinion as to what apps are absolutely necessary if you want to take advantage of this great operating system.  Ultamatix I'm probably going to be put on the black-list by more advanced Linux users for mentioning this application, but Ultamatix is the reason this is not a "101 Must-Have Linux Apps" article.  Ultamatix (formerly Automatix) is an amazing program that allows you to install various applications that... Why the Uncertainty of God and Religion Proves Christianity
2008-08-21 09:36:00
Nobody Can Prove The Existence of GodSome Christians argue that the fingerprints of God can be seen in the intricate design of the universe.  Atheists counter this idea by stating that the universe is chaotic and random, and therefore shows that there is no designer of the cosmos.   How is it possible that two individuals can observe the same natural phenomena and end up with two different conclusions about God?  So Many Religion s, So Little TimeEvery religion claims to teach the truth about God, and often contradict each other in doing so.  Hindu Pantheists believe that God is in everything, even to the point that we are gods.  Jews and Muslims believe in one God, which we are subject to as His creations.  Finally, Christians believe that God became man and that God is three persons that make up one Godhead.  So with all these religions believing so differently, how could anyone judge which is the correct one, if any of them are at all?

Make Your Vista or XP Desktop Sleek and Productive
2008-08-18 01:14:00
Within the sphere of individuals who rely on their Windows desktop to manage their work, you typically have 2 classes.  Each class has their pros and cons, but ultimately, only a third class that I will introduce outperforms them both by taking the best from each of them.  The Clean Freak The Clean Freak requires a workspace with no distractions.  Everything on their desktop must be ceremonially cleansed in order to maintain a stress-free work environment.  While it is great to have an area without any visual distractions, the problem is that typically those distractions  include their work.  The desktop below is a perfect example of a Clean Freak's desktop.

Why the Assumption of Mary Makes Sense
2008-08-15 23:00:00
The biggest stumbling block to not only those that are Non-Catholic, but Catholics as well, is the subject of Mary .  The Church honors this woman, who was virtually unmentioned in the Bible, more than any other human in history.  One particular teaching that the Church ascribes to her is her Assumption.  That is, at some point God deigned to not let her remain on earth and snatched her physically into heaven.  While it's not an original idea (many religions have a similar stories) it is one that has brought a whole lot of contention among Christian believers.  But the concept isn't really that far fetched.  In fact, various events in the Bible, and writings from the Church Fathers, suggest... Why Evolutionists Would Make Good Christians
2008-08-12 22:00:00
The war between Christianity and evolution has been ongoing for more than a century.  Christians who find it repugnant to suggest that humans came from apes, and atheists who find it superstitious that we originated from an unverifiable deity, continue to lash out at each other in hopes of rendering the other side's ideas null.  Unfortunately, animosity toward those who advocate various evolutionary theories is unnecessary.  In fact, there are many reasons why it is possible that Evolutionists (atheistic Evolutionists) could be better Christians than the run-of-the-mill strict creationist if they were to convert. 4 Reasons Why You Should Use Linux
2008-08-12 22:00:00
Most people who use a computer have no idea that there is any other operating system other than Windows and MacOS.  It's unfortunate because there is so much potential out there to save time, save money, and implement amazing tools that can be beneficial to individuals, families, business, and churches.  Linux derivative operating systems are powerful, relatively easy to use (depending on the distribution), and are FREE! Oh, and did I mention that they are free?  I just wanted to make sure.  The majority of what's in this article will be using Ubuntu Linux, a free and very Windows-like operating system. Here is just a short, but amazing list of what you can do with Linux: [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

3 Reasons Why Catholicism is Great
2008-08-12 22:00:00
Being a cradle Catholic/Revert, I've had the privilege of seeing the Catholic Church from many angles, both in support of and against her at times.  Overall, I've continually come to appreciate the Church in more ways as I get older.  Here are just 3 ideas that come to mind that illustrate why the Catholic Church is, for lack of a better word, great!  They are not meant to be exhaustive, or even an argumentative proof, but are just some thoughts aimed at generating mental conversation.  Catholicism is Founded on Faith and Reason I cannot count how many times I've spoken to people that assume that Catholics have no concept of logic and reasoning.  When discussing an ethical or moral...
