4 Must-Have Apps for Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron)
2008-08-26 23:55:00 I recently installed the newest stable version of Ubuntu Linux, Hardy Heron (8.04), and I am very impressed. Not only is the operating system fantastic, but the applications that you can use with it are great and have become much easier to install. With that, I thought I'd give my opinion as to what apps are absolutely necessary if you want to take advantage of this great operating system. Ultamatix I'm probably going to be put on the black-list by more advanced Linux users for mentioning this application, but Ultamatix is the reason this is not a "101 Must-Have Linux Apps" article. Ultamatix (formerly Automatix) is an amazing program that allows you to install various applications that... [[ This is a content summary only. Why the Uncertainty of God and Religion Proves Christianity
2008-08-21 09:36:00 Nobody Can Prove The Existence of God Some Christians argue that the fingerprints of God can be seen in the intricate design of the universe. Atheists counter this idea by stating that the universe is chaotic and random, and therefore shows that there is no designer of the cosmos. How is it possible that two individuals can can observe the same natural phenomena and end up with two different conclusions about God? So Many Religion s, So Little Time Every religion claims to teach the truth about God, and often contradict each other in doing so. Hindu Pantheists believe that God is in everything, even to the point that we are gods. Jews and Muslims believe in one God, which we are... [[ This is a content summary only. Make Your Vista or XP Desktop Sleak and Productive
2008-08-18 01:14:00 Within the sphere of individuals who rely on their Windows desktop to manage their work, you typically have 2 classes. Each class has their pros and cons, but ultimately, only a third class that I will introduce outperforms them both by taking the best from each of them. The Clean Freak The Clean Freak requires a workspace with no distractions. Everything on their desktop must be ceremonially cleansed in order to maintain a stress-free work environment. While it is great to have an area without any visual distractions, the problem is that typically those distractions include their work. The desktop below is a perfect example of a Clean Freak's desktop. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]] More About: Desktop , Vista , Make
Why the Assumption of Mary Makes Sense
2008-08-15 23:00:00 The biggest stumbling block to not only those that are Non-Catholic, but Catholics as well, is the subject of Mary . The Church honors this woman, who was virtually unmentioned in the Bible, more than any other human in history. One particular teaching that the Church ascribes to her is her Assumption. That is, at some point God deigned to not let her remain on earth and snatched her physically into heaven. While it's not an original idea (many religions have a similar stories) it is one that has brought a whole lot of contention among Christian believers. But the concept isn't really that far fetched. In fact, various events in the Bible, and writings from the Church Fathers, suggest... [[ This is a content summary only. Why Evolutionists Would Make Good Christians
2008-08-12 22:00:00 The war between Christianity and evolution has been ongoing for more than a century. Christians who find it repugnant to suggest that humans came from apes, and atheists who find it superstitious that we originated from an unverifiable deity, continue to lash out at each other in hopes of rendering the other side's ideas null. Unfortunately, animosity toward those who advocate various evolutionary theories is unnecessary. In fact, there are many reasons why it is possible that Evolutionists (atheistic Evolutionists) could be better Christians than the run-of-the-mill strict creationist if they were to convert. 4 Reasons Why You Should Use Linux
2008-08-12 22:00:00 Most people who use a computer have no idea that there is any other operating system other than Windows and MacOS. It's unfortunate because there is so much potential out there to save time, save money, and implement amazing tools that can be beneficial to individuals, families, business, and churches. Linux derivative operating systems are powerful, relatively easy to use (depending on the distribution), and are FREE! Oh, and did I mention that they are free? I just wanted to make sure. The majority of what's in this article will be using Ubuntu Linux, a free and very Windows-like operating system. Here is just a short, but amazing list of what you can do with Linux: [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]] More About: Reasons
3 Reasons Why Catholicism is Great
2008-08-12 22:00:00 Being a cradle Catholic/Revert, I've had the privilege of seeing the Catholic Church from many angles, both in support of and against her at times. Overall, I've continually come to appreciate the Church in more ways as I get older. Here are just 3 ideas that come to mind that illustrate why the Catholic Church is, for lack of a better word, great! They are not meant to be exhaustive, or even an argumentative proof, but are just some thoughts aimed at generating mental conversation. Catholicism is Founded on Faith and Reason I cannot count how many times I've spoken to people that assume that Catholics have no concept of logic and reasoning. When discussing an ethical or moral... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]] More About: Great , Reasons

5 Short Reasons Why The Bible Alone Does Not Work
2007-07-28 22:36:00 Can you think of a single Christian Church that openly denies the importance of the Sacred Scriptures? If not, that's probably because they don't exist. Christians, even pseudo-Christian-wacky-cultish-types,&nbs p;at all times have believed that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant word of God. A pillar of faith, its role has been essential to the life of those who wish to follow the teachings of Christ, and his promise of salvation. However, many Christian denominations hold that the Bible is all we need to know the will of God, and can be interpreted by the individual laymen. There are five problems with this view, each ending in inevitable disunity and ambiguity: 1. It is relativistic My interpretation is the truth. Just like yours. Self-interpretation eventually leads to relativistic hermeneutics. That is, anyone's interpretation is a good interpretation, but the most accurate interpretation is the one that most closely reflect... More About: Work , Reasons , Short , The Bible

The Fray: How to save a life
2007-02-14 03:11:07 I’m sure that most of you that listen to Christian rock have heard this song many times over, but I had to put it on my site. The Fray is one of the few Christian artists to steer away from the Christian record labels in order to be heard by the mainstream music media. Along with other bands like Switchfoot and MuteMath, they were not pigeon holed into one genre of music, and are now able to reach and evangelize a wider audience. Hopefully, more Christian bands do the same! fanatholicarum More About: Life , How To , Save
The Dark Side of Pottery
2007-02-11 03:09:07 Just about everyone, Catholic and Non-Catholic, is somewhat familiar with Jeremiah 18:1-6. It is the famous “Hands of the Potter ” passage in which God explains that he shapes our very lives as a potter shapes a mound of clay. It is a very touching analogy, and is used time and again in many homilies to show how God is lovingly shaping our lives. But I’ve yet to hear anything from the pulpit that refers to the bad news of this great piece of scripture. Do you know the bad news? Let’s contemplate what a potter does. A potter takes a moist, shapeless mound of clay and sets it on his spinning wheel. He then, through much skill, begins to slowly gives it three things. His first goal is to give the clay a pleasant appearance. Beauty is what makes it pleasing and acceptable to others, and makes it worth buying and using. Nobody likes an ugly pot, no matter how useful it is. Secondly, the potter gives his object functionality. He determines what this objec... More About: Dark , The Dark , Side , Otter
Favorite Christian Artists: Cross Movement
2007-02-08 03:07:01 Alright, I’m back for a bit. I’ve got to share this group with everyone. Cross Movement is a Christian Rap group that has been around for a while. They have a lot of great songs, and this one in particular is just fun. The song is called “Know Me” and is reminiscent of secular artists such as DJ Quick. The lyrics are explosively fast, and the beat is non-stop. These guys are great! fanatholicarum More About: Artist , Men , Artists
The One Thing Necessary
2007-02-01 03:02:03 Some of you may be wondering why I haven’t been updating my blog as regularly as normal. Well, the reason is because I am trying to do the one thing necessary. I’m trying to stop being a busy bee that’s always trying to do something, and stop at our Lord’s feet and know Him. Throughout my life I have constantly tried to know about God, rather than trying to get to know Him. A line from Thomas A’Kempis has been ringing in my ear for the past few days, “What does it matter if you can explain everything about the Trinity, and yet displease the Trinity by your actions?” I’ve been feeling the need to get away from books and writing in order to spend more time with the person I am writing about. Will I continue with the blog? Of course, but I feel I will be much more effective in writing if I take a step back. So, for a short while I will be updating the blog less. However, if anyone has any questions about God, morality, or anything... More About: Essa , Thing , The O

Pro-Life Vs. Pro-Choice Logic: Skepticism
More articles from this author:2007-01-24 14:54:01 One of the popular arguments made by those who are supporters of a woman’s “right to choose” is the fact that we don’t know for sure whether or not the fetus is a living human person. Many Christians find this argument to be simply repulsive. The pro-lifer says “How can anyone say that it is not a life? It’s displaying characteristics of life from the very beginning of conception! And if the embryo was made by two humans, then it logically follows that this is human life.” The pro-choicer responds, “But we cannot know for sure that it is a human life. It is only a blob of cells at conception, and until the fetus grows a brain, it can’t even feel anything. Unless their’s proof that it’s a human being at conception, then there is nothing wrong with abortion.” I hate to admit it, but those that are on the pro-choice side of the battle lines are right. They are not correct that abortion is not morally repre... More About: Life , Skeptic , Skepticism , Pro-Life , Choice 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 |
