2008-04-20 23:01:00 Rafi at Life in Israel shares this event notice...Visit the kever (the holy tomb) of Yehoshua bin Nun (Joshua, who took over after the passing of Moshe Rabaynu (Moses)) on Wednesday April 30th at night. Open from 11:00pm until 5:00am (and then davening at 5:30am).It should be noted that the reason this is a rare event and in the middle of the night, is that the holy tomb is located in the middle of a current Arab village in the Shomron (West Bank). The army will escort everyone in and provide heavy security. The local hostile residents will be under curfew during this time.

Although Passover is, by far, the most memorable and beloved holiday of the entire Jewish calendar, it also brings the greatest number of details, requirements and restrictions. Observing each of these elements is crucial during this week of preparation and especially for the Seder itself. To list them all would (and does) fill an entire book.There are the Torah commandments and there are the rabbinical commandments. There are also the customs that, surprisingly, vary tremendously between the Sephardim and Ashkenazim. There are the unique customs that have developed around the diaspora. Kosher for Erev Pesach?
2008-04-15 18:12:00 A public service announcement from Mystical Paths...There's been a very weird kosher for Passover designation found on items in Israel...it reads:Kosher for Passover and Erev (right before) PassoverWhile I've just been scratching my head over this one, Mr. Shaul B. of Beit Shemesh, Israel researched this odd designation and has this to report:The answers I received (as to what this means) were split as follows:1. It means that the product was manufactured before Pesach , so any chometz can be batul b'shishim [nullified by 60] (IOW the designation "Erev Pesach" is lav davka; it just means "made before Pesach"); or2.
