Christians in denial.
2007-02-26 13:01:02 Some time ago I came across a Chris t ian blog. On the blog he wrote about a certain passage in the works of Josephus. The passage mentions Jesus. This Christian gave two accounts ofthe passage in which he declared that one was a fake passage and the other was a genuine passage both mentioning a man claled Jesus. I commented on his blog telling him that he got it wrong - both passages are fake; one of them is an early interpolation and another is a later interpolation. I also added that Origen, a 3rd century church father does not mention the Jesus passage in his study of Josephus and added that Origen was a life long orthodox Jew that could not have written the passage in that way. The pasage could not have been written in the 3rd century so it could not have possibly been written by anyone living in the 1st. On another post I added there on his blog that the use of the words “untill this day” implies that the passage is not genuine; both of them. And guess what he has re... Faith, hope and Charity: the three evils of modernity.
2007-02-25 00:59:02 Now I`m not giving here an lengthy philosophical analysis of Christian virtue but let me say right out that I find that the three Christian virtues “hope, faith and charity” to be vices masquerading as virtues. Christianity has introduced a theory of morality that sides with the weak; it makes a prediction that favours the good-natured and the mild-mannered: ?the meek shall inherit the earth? and it maintains a submissive attitude called ?humility? that decks itself out as a virtue that is felt to be appeasing to God. For me Christianity embodies a morality that exercises those values most associated with those who are full of meekness, timidity, docility and unassertiveness; in short: weak. A Christian will no doubt oppose such a thing as this and will say that this and that is not true and will no doubt find reasons for believing that Christian morality is somehow strong. How can timidity be a strength? It cannot. It can be a poison, for sure. It can be sly. It can b... More About: Faith , Charity , Hope , Evil , Modern
Is the bible a literary fraud?
2007-02-23 12:57:03 I always thought that the bible was a work of fiction even without the knowledge of the antics of those Christian scribes back in the days of Eusebius the Church propagandist, who incidentally was by some pious bishop given the task to seek and find historical records and accounts of the 1st Century and “make use” of them for their Jesus Christ story. I`m thinking of that Jesus passage in the works of Jospehus`s Antiquities - the one that doesn`t add up and is inserted rather clumsily. And to mention that Josephus himself was not a Christian and did not believe in Jesus Christ [as told to us by Origen] and yet the said passage is displayed to us as if written by someone with Christian piety attitude towards Jesus Christ. “As it happens, Josephus, who mentions John the Baptist, does not mention Jesus. There is, to be sure, a paragraph in his history of the Jews which is devoted to Jesus, but it interrupts the flow of the discourse and seems suspiciously like an afte... Playstation is fun.
2007-02-21 18:55:04 People often assume that because one goes on and on about philosophy and religion and all those very “interesting” subjects one is undoubtedly boring or boring-eccentric. I don`t mind people thinking that I am an eccentric and I agree with Russell when he says: “Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric”. And just to show that I am not an eccentric bore at any rate; I`ve had a playstation for years and I love playing games; I am almost addicted you might say. There I games I will only play though. Games that are worth playing and worth money are those of Tom Clancy. I am at the moment enjoying every hour playing Double Agent however I`m not getting much sleep through playing it. Neverthless it is worth every hour of sleep lost. It is only a temporary happiness that I get from playing these games but it is a happiness nevertheless, and I would rather have temporary happiness than none at all. Well, wouldn`t you? ... Englands mediocre generation.
2007-02-21 00:53:02 England is a hot bed for people who simply cannot string together a meaningful sentence. It has been the will of Europe since the turn of the century to breed a specific type of human. Though I can`t say exactly what that type has taken so far in Europe I can say that the abortives and the failed experiments of this willed [or will-less even] breeding all seem to end up in England; in towns of the North where the sun and sun-rays never shine and the grey atmosphere of doom laden expressions find saction in those huge tombs called Churches. In England alone there does seem to be a definite type of people that is most favoured: the common people bred for mediocrity - burnt children of democracy full of the three Christian virtues: hope, faith and charity. Hope for a speedy exit to a Utopia beyond always personal, faith in the resurrection of a parish demagogue for which no amount of historical evidence will prove the existence for, and Charity as an expression of good will and as a me... Hello big bad world!
2007-02-20 12:53:01 Welcome to my on-line diary(blog). My diary is a place where I can record my thoughts and ideas and where I can let off steam, criticize and say whatever I want to say. I never did keep a diary; I always thought they were quite bland. However I do like the concept of an on-line diary; its fun [can be serious fun] and its a way of expanding and developing your persona (or personas). It seems were are not allowed to have an opinion out there in the big bad world but in here on-line you can say whatever you like; I like that kind of freedom that it offers. Thankyou for reading, Martyn Blackburn More About: World , Hell , Big B , Hello
The Error of Responsibility
2007-02-20 12:53:01 I`ve just found this interesting paragraph in the works of Friedrich Nietzsche. A lesson for all moralizers and Christians: So we make people responsible first for the impact of their actions, then for their actions, then for their motives, and finally for their nature. Ultimately, we learn that this nature is also not responsible, since it is an absolutely inevitable result and a concretion of the elements and influences of the past and present things: hence, people cannot be held responsible for anything, including their nature, their motives, their actions, and the impact of their actions. Nietzsche concludes: We therefore realize that the history of moral feelings is the history of an error, the error of responsibility. I agree 100% percent with Nietzsche. And to use a Krishnamurti expression; ?Human beings are not free from their past conditioning.?. The reason that Christians and other moralizers [and so too those Karma junkies] feel that every human being is accountable for... More About: Bili , Error
Mystery Religion
2007-02-20 12:53:01 As a child I loved the stories contained in Greek and Roman mythology. My grandfather gave me a red book which contained every Greek and Roman hero, god, godess, titan, nymph; it was all in there. I loved the beautifully drawn pictures with their muscles and the way they stood so strong, noble and elegant. My favourite picture was Ares [Mars]. One story in particular remained a favourite with me. I can remember only bits of it but lately I have looked again at this story. I will reveal the story in another post on this blog. As a lover of Greek mythology as a child I was often misunderstood by my school teachers and my mother and step dad who thought that I actually believed that these stories and myths they really happened. I never believed such a thing but I was enchanted by it all. I didn`t get much praise for the interest in mythology and I did get some scorn from the school teachers who were either Catholic or Christian of some denomination. Because of my interest in Greek and ... More About: Religion , Ligi , Mystery , Gion , Myst
Pity: virtue or vice?
2007-02-20 12:53:01 Any atheist, agnostic or unbeliever who has ever met a Christian at some time or another has been on the receiving end of what is known as pity. Is pity harmless? Or is it hostile? Take a look at what Friedrich Nietzsche has to say on the subject of pity: Christianity is called the religion of pity.- Pity stands in opposition to all the tonic passions that augment the energy of the feeling of aliveness: it is a depressant. A man loses power when he pities. Through pity that drain upon strength which suffering works is multiplied a thousandfold. Suffering is made contagious by pity; under certain circumstances it may lead to a total sacrifice of life and living energy?a loss out of all proportion to the magnitude of the cause. This is the first view of it; there is, however, a still more important one. If one measures the effects of pity by the gravity of the reactions it sets up, its character as a menace to life appears in a much clearer light. Pity thwarts the whole law of evoluti... When gods are most favoured
2007-02-20 12:53:01 Pagans had their gods but ?God ? in paganism is a word signifying agreement and union in all things; that means a Pagan would have been one who says Yes to life. The pagan God is an embodiment of affirmation here on earth?.untill Christianity came along and broke that mystical union and declared that all the pagan Gods were a temptation by the devil! These are the Riches of the Poor
2007-02-20 12:53:01 I have been thinking quite a lot about how I can get myself out of this aweful poverty trap I find myself in. I am claiming state benefits and this might well continue till September. September is the month I join the college for yet another course. Previously I attended college on a fitness instructor course but I have found no success with finding work and I may need to go back there to that course for another year. I love exercise and I love weight training but do I want to make a career out of it? I`m not sure now; I never properly researched what the industry might be like. Apparently, no employer will take you on unless you can teach a class. Well, I can teach kung fu but not step. I can teach weight training and circuit training but I find circuit training a little boring and I am not qualified to teach it. It was only in November last year that I was sent on job centre skills course. They made the course sound exciting and profitable for us and they told all those concerned ... Truth and happiness
2007-02-20 12:53:01 How reasonable is it for a moment to acquiesce with these Christians that wherever and whenever Christianity has reached the shores of an unhappy and impoverished community of people [e.g. Africa] it miraculously made them happy and prosperous? Christians are fond of asserting to us atheists, agnostics and unbelievers that if Christianity is untrue and false then why is it making people happy and fruitful all over the world? Why is it that the Christian Missionaries who set sail for foreign shores so as to ’spread the word’ raise the status of the inhabitants there and thereby making them happy? What kind of perspective should we take here? Does it make happy? Or is it happiness as a form of stupidity? Is it a delusion? The Christians are often fond of telling us that wealth and status do not bring happiness. Of course, the claim is that the Christian Missionaries do not bring wealth and status at all but the word of God and some message of love from Jesus Christ. If tha... A fallen idol
2007-02-20 12:53:01 Morrissey, a monster of self-transformation, perhaps? A man who full of melancholy and misanthrope and pessimism shone so very bright like a star within the pop world and whom a generation of angst ridden teenagers [including myself] looked upon as their God and saviour. Decadent now but still is the undesputed champion of British pop music and certainly the most funniest and melodramatic [Nowwhere Fast and Girlfriend in a Coma] and most profound and most miserable[That Joke isn`t Funny Anymore and Heaven Knows I`m Miserable Now] lyric writer in memory and still not matched today; no pop artist today, as far as I am concerned, as ever made of himself such a fascinating character as this man. Morrissey grew up in a council estate in Manchester most of his time being on the dole and dreaming of fame; it is a story from poor idiot boy of the village to British pop icon of the 80`s. Like any Morrissey fan will tell you; “he reminds me so much of myself”. My only dread is tha... More About: Idol , Fallen , Allen , Fall
Muslim child
2007-02-20 12:53:01 Yesterday I saw a little Muslim girl out with her mum and dad and probably her older sister. Don`t you find that a little odd that a child should be raised like that? I`ve seen Christian children. I`ve seen Christian/Catholic children as young as 7 protesting against the Jerry Springer Opera. What do these children understand themselves? Are they not allowed to think? Though I cannot dictate how mum and dad should bring up their children, I believe it is tragic that a child be raised as a Muslim or a Christian or even an Atheist for that matter. Let children be children; let them explore and discover things about the world so that they know that life is a rich tapestry that can offer a lot of potential. Don`t enslave your children with the words of God or some biblical moral code. Doesn`t all morality separate and divide us? It makes no sense why a child would believe in God; it would be more fitting if children learned how things worked in a scientific spirit - in that way children... More About: Child , Slim
Be a winner not a sinner!
2007-02-20 12:53:01 Be a winner not a sinner - believe in Jesus and don`t be shallow - I`m not shallow like some people - there is crime on our streets and Jesus will eradicate it - Liverpool must become a Christian society - Jesus is love, the light and the way and all other religions will decieve you - if you don`t have Jesus in your life then you are a loser? These are the utterances of a Christian and a world-denier who goes about from place to place spreading the infection of God. And according to him if you don`t believe in Jesus Christ it implies you lack meaning in your life; christianity is the biggest presumption there is. He taps his foot on the ground and shakes his hands about like a deranged mad man. He believes wholeheartedly that Christianity is the elixir of life; the antidote to all ills and evils; that the belief in Christ can rectify all the worlds problems. He believes that the meaning of Christmas is Christ and denies that Christianity stole Christmas from the pagans! This guy i... More About: Winner |
