Mass on the Internet?
2007-05-14 21:02:00 If the Magisterium will not allow confessions over the telephone and email, I can't see the Church allowing Mass over the Intern et . The idea proposed by Brazilian bishops is that remote communities and younger worshippers should be able to celebrate Mass live over the Internet. The suggestion is that unleavened bread would be placed in front of computer monitors to be consecrated. More to come More About: The Internet

New Glasses
2007-05-13 20:05:00 I'm getting my first pair of new glasses in four years. They're very cool: they're Adidas P3S Nylor (I think model A782, but I can't exactly remember that!), which can be seen when you scroll down about halfway on this page. I take possession of them, I hope, by next weekend. More to come... More About: Glass , Glasses
Cannoli Aplenty
2007-05-13 15:39:00 We had a very nice Mother’s Day dinner at my mom’s favourite Italian restaurant on Friday evening. After dinner was finished and the plates were cleared away, the young waiter inquired as to whether or not we cared for coffee, tea or dessert. Though the rest of us declined, my mom indicated she would like her regular cappuccino, while my dad ordered his cappuccino with whipped cream. He then More About: Plenty , Lent , Anno
Mother's Watch
2007-05-13 15:22:00 Happy Mother's Day, Mom. I'm using a poem I copied here a couple of years ago, but it's the one that always brings tears to my eyes thinking of all my mom has done and continues to do for me each day, in ways I can never repay. “The Mother Watch ” by Edgar Guest She never closed her eyes in sleep 'til we were all in bed. On party nights, 'til we came home, she often sat and read. We little

Reading
2007-05-11 19:52:00 My reading pile is growing shorter much quicker than I had imagined. This stomach thing has confined me mostly to the couch for the past 24 hours and so I've finished off Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe Diaries and Ryan Knighton's Cockeyed. Knighton's story resonates with me, much like Kuusisto's Planet of the Blind did a couple of summers ago. Knighton is only a few years older than me, and his More About: Reading

Library Outing
2007-05-09 20:02:00 It's official: I'm sick of TV. I didn't think it would happen so quickly, but I knew it would happen eventually. I have been out of school for three weeks now, and I really can't bear to watch another hour of daytime TV. (With the exception of The People's Court; I really do love Marilyn Milian. Evening TV is another story, but as the season winds down, so do my interests.) So, I dug out More About: Library , Outing , Libra
In the Post
2007-05-09 16:22:00 About a week ago I completed an online survey asking whether I was happy with the technology accommodations I had on my home computer, and whether I could access the same features on university library computers. The survey didn't take long to do and promised a $10 compensation for my time, so I went ahead and completed it. Our Priestly Sacrifices At Mass

Life is Never Dull...
2007-03-15 06:02:00 After a very long couple of days and considerable emotional upheaval, I was both physically and emotionally drained when I crawled beneath the sheets around 10pm last evening. I was trying to watch America's Next Top Model and I guess I drifted off into oblivion when I awoke some hour and a half later, the tape stopped and the TV still on. Slightly Better Day
2007-03-14 20:49:00 Today was a little better than yesterday. We had a guest lecturer in our Sex class (yes, the infamous Sex class) who had to discuss reproductive technologies with us. She was explaining the techniques involved in the IVF process, specifically around harvesting. The woman's procedure is complicated and involves surgery, and in contrast, she very drily noted, the man's procedure is "not at all More About: Light , Better , Bett
A Fantastic Liturgical Blooper
More articles from this author:2007-03-14 12:58:00 Our chaplain was sharing his favourite liturgical blooper with us. It seems that one weekend a group of priests were on retreat together and decided to have an informal Sunday Mass. A couple of them went into town to procure some unleavened bread for this purpose and came back with a loaf from a local bakery. Unfortunately, they didn't check to make sure that that was all that was in the loaf. More About: Al B , Loop , Blooper 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
