Our day
2008-04-30 00:04:00 Hi,Kurt is so busy with work and school that I am going to help out with our blog. Computers and I don't always get along so we will see. We had a fun time with school today. Hannah is reading through the Ruth Fielding series. She is also learning multiplication and grammar. Caleb, Natalie and I worked on phonics. I am getting a Hooked on Phonics curriculum from the library tomorrow. Natalie is learning her addition facts. Caleb is the only one who will get an official summer break. I like to do school year round and take of time as needed. The weather is nice to we worked in the flowers bed. We made homemade bread shaped like a turtle to take to Grandma Jeanne and Grandpa Mo tomorrow. We made bread shaped like a bunny and few days ago. I have started making homemade bread to save money and we are enjoying it. Our trampoline arrived today! The kids saved their money for two years to buy this. The day is long waiting for Kurt to get home to put it together! I am going to church ton...

God's Economy
2008-01-25 01:00:00 I recieve a weekly free newsletter from Advantage Conferences President Tim Darnell called the "Footsteps of Faith Messenger". I wanted to share today's edition with all of you. If you want to subscribe to the Messenger, you can click hereFootsteps of Faith Messenger - Issue 190God's Economy Malachi 3:7-18Luke 16:9Haggai 2:8Tim DarnellIn the world’s economy, “more” is the thing that men chase only to find that “more” is never enough. In the world’s economy, conditions like recessions and depressions in the marketplace loom large in the minds of men. Tales of woe and hardship frighten the masses and cause them to tighten their grasp on inanimate coins from which they are destined to be separated anyway. In the world’s economy, people fear money. They incessantly think about it and worry over it day in and day out. They secretly wish money didn’t exist, yet their lives revolve around it, while investing the bulk of their time and energy toward its acquisition. In t...

Back from Dallas
2007-11-14 05:43:00 Angie and I are back from attending our 3rd Advantage Conferences Mindset Mentoring Conference. Ive been trying to think of what to write about and having a hard time figuring out where to start. Like the previous conferences, it perfectly blended entrepreneurial training with biblical truth. Nowhere else have I experienced this kind of teaching.I will post more in the future as I process it all, but One of the things that really stuck with me was when Kevin Weaver talked about learning to tell the difference between opportunity and distraction. I often find myself saying "yes" to everything, and becoming overcommitted. Many times I have been chasing what I thought were opportunities, but were only leading me away from my purpose.Speaking of purpose, what is yours? Are you an "On purpose Person"? I highly recommend the little book "The On Purpose Person" by Keving Mccarthy, and of course Tim Darnell's book "Slay Your Giant". Email me at kurt@advantageconferences.com and I can get y... Save Clydehurst!
2007-08-27 03:28:00 Clydehurst Christian Ranch was a camp I went to with my youth group in high school. It was a great place to have fun, and to really get great biblical teaching. It was a place where people gave their lives to Christ. It was a place where decisions to become missionaries or pastors occured. Not any more. “The summer of 2007 may be the last summer of Clydehurst as we know it!” (Wayne Brownson,39 year director of Clydehurst)Click here to learn more: http://friendsofclydehurst.com More About: Save , Clyde

Camping
2007-05-30 03:51:00 We just had a great time camping at the Long Pine SRA over the weekend. Since I was young Long pine has been a traditional camping spot for the Kliewer and Green families over Memorial Day weekend. It has grown to include the Konrad family and the Ehlers family over the years. The camp ground is primative with no electricity or running water(there is one hand pump), but it is beautiful and a lot of fun. I will put up some pictures soon. On Memorial day we packed up in the morning and then went to Chambers to put flowers on Mom and Dads grave, and see the cemetery. It was very nice, and Grandpa Troxel Greens Flag(wwII) was the first one in the row. Mom and Dads grave looked very nice, with lots of flowers and some other neat things. Angie and I are planning on planting some flowers that will bloom every year by the headstone. More About: Camping
kites
2007-04-29 05:17:00 We flew kites today. Hannah has one of those triangle ones that she got for her birthday last year. The other two didnt have kites, and when we were grocery shopping the other day they found these 99cent old school diamond kites. I took them out of their package, and lets just say its been a while since I put one of those together:)They had these tiny little tails that I knew werent going to cut it, and to get them to fly well I ended up with about 15 feet of ripped up old dress on one, and bunch of ribbon stuff that Angie found on the other. We were just getting them to fly decent when the wind just STOPPED. Hannahs kite, which flys with very little wind, just slowly floated almost straight down, and the others dropped like a rock. It was strange. Im sure we wont have to wait long for more wind, this is Nebraska after all:)
Have Patience
2007-04-19 05:50:00 I think one of the best things you learn dealing with cars, is patience. Ive been working on things that "go" since I was little and they can be extremely frustrating. Over time, you learn that the car is an inanimate object. It doesnt feel, or think, and it isnt trying to make you mad.A perfect example of automotive frustration is installing a manual transmission after changing the clutch. Things have to line up just right or it wont slide together. On several occasions Ive literally spent close to an hour just trying to get the transmission to line up. A couple of times after fighting it, Ive stopped for a minute, then pushed on it with one hand and it slides right together with ease. :)Anyway, I was just thinking that my experience with working on cars has translated into me being a more patient person."Lord, give me patience, and give it to me now!" He died for that!
2007-03-26 06:07:00 Angie and I watched Mel Gibsons "The Passion" for the first time tonight. We have been going through Matthew in Church and are coming up to Easter, so we thought it would be a good thing for us to watch. It was.Have you ever committed some stupid selfish little sin and thought "Jesus went through all of His suffering, separation from the Father, and His death because of the sin I just commited."I felt the movie was a good portrayal of the Biblical accounts of the events surrounding Jesus Crucifixion. If you havent seen the movie, I recommend you do it. It is disturbing, and bloody, as it was in reality. The best part of the movie, though is the last scene. The GOOD NEWS of Jesus' death, is that it didnt last long!!!HE IS RISEN!If HE has set you free, then you are FREE INDEED!Kurt More About: Hat , Died , That
Don't Leave It On The Desk......
2007-03-21 00:20:00 There was a certain Professor of Religion named Dr. Christianson, a studious man who taught at a small college in the western United States . Dr. Christianson taught the required survey course in Christianity at this particular institution. Every student was required to take this course his or her freshman year, regardless of his or her major.Although Dr. Christianson tried hard to communicate the essence of the gospel in his class, he found that most of his students looked upon the course as nothing but required drudgery. Despite his best efforts, most students refused to take Christianity seriouslyThis year, Dr. Christianson had a special student named Steve. Steve was only a freshman, but was studying with the intent of going onto seminary for the ministry. Steve was popular, he was well liked, and he was an imposing physical specimen. He was now the starting center on the school football team, and was the best student in the professor's class. One day, Dr. Christianson asked Ste... More About: Leave , Desk , The D
"What is a Christian in business?"
2007-03-05 06:28:00 Here is an article that a "friend of a friend" wrote. Her name is Regina Baker and this is her website: http://www.Business ByGrace.comWhat is a Christ ian in Business? Knowing that you were created for a purpose. Desiring the will of God and holding fast to this journey is the beginning of a beautiful life! Seeking God for the answers, reading the scripture and meditating on it daily while the Holy Spirit gives you revelation understanding is what will help you understand exactly what you are doing within that purpose. Once we acknowledge that our lives our not our own, we were paid for with a price! Jesus’ blood was shared for each and everyone of us! Our purpose is to glorify God in EVERYTHING that we do… there is so much peace in knowing that when we surrender completely… dying daily to our own selfish desires, that God will perform His good and perfect will for our lives. Becoming a Christian in business, means to “commit yourself” to God. Commit your works ... More About: Hat

FREEDOM!
2007-02-20 19:49:00 Today is my 2nd day of what I feel is freedom. Ive always been an enrepreneurially(say that fast 7 times) minded person, its in my family's blood. Jobs have been good to me and helped when I just needed to pay the bills, but during those times I was always planning to go on my own, doing what I loved to do. For some this sounds incredibly scary Im sure, the security of relying on someone else to provide you with work, and depending on them to pay you, but for me, staying in a job can be just as scary or worse. Those people that have relied on the big 3 auto manufacturers for everything are now out in the cold. Ive been through something similar, where my boss came to us one day and said he was closing shop, and we needed to find something else in the next 3 weeks. I could have pannicked, but I had already been talking with my dad about partnering up with him. I now had a good reason to do so:), and the Lord was working in what couldve been terrible circumstances. My point is this: ... More About: Freedom , Edom , Reed
Im going to be leaving My Job....
2007-01-29 19:51:00 After a long time of praying and waiting, the right time has come for me to quit working at Baldwins Automotive. It has been a very good job, and God definately put us in the right place at the right time. Now he has led us to persue our Advantage Conferences business, and Green Cylinder Heads on a full time basis. God has also shown me some areas of ministry that I will be able to do with a more flexible schedule, and more time. Our life over the past year has been a whirlwind, but I can honestly say that Ive grown in Christ more this year than in my entire life. My understanding of who God is, how He works, and what faith is really all about has really changed. Please pray for us, it is very exciting, and we are boldly walking forward in Christ.Kurt More About: Ving , Going , Leaving , Goin
Im a Binge reader
2007-01-29 19:39:00 When it comes to novels, I confess that Im a binge reader. For example: Angie has been telling me for quite a while that I needed to read Ted Dekkers "Black, Red, and White" series of books. Friday evening after the kids were tucked in, Angie was sitting down to read a book, so I picked up "Black" and started to read. I crawled into bed around 3:30 am, having read all but a chapter. I would have finished it but I was having trouble focusing and I was out of coffee. Saturday evening, Angie wasnt feeling well, So I sat by her in bed and read over half of "red". Sunday was the same story, but I havent quite finished "Red" yet.Im sure tonight ill read some more, and the series will be finished in the next several days. Its excellent, by the way. If you like CS Lewis alegory, combined with a modern suspense/thriller, you will love these books.Kurt More About: Reader , Read , Bing
Winter has arrived!
2007-01-19 04:33:00 We finally have had some cold weather and snow. I was beginning to wonder:). We have had several inches of snow in the past 10 days and the temps this week have been in the single digits to teens. The girls have started going to Good News Club every Thursday afternoon. Our church started it this month as a new outreach for the community. It has been going very well, with plenty of kids. While the girls are gone, Angie gets to spend some one on one time with Caleb. They both really enjoy it.Thats all for now.... More About: Winter , Arri
Friends dont let friends go to Jiffy Lube!!
2007-01-03 18:40:00 This is why I always cringe when someone tells me they take their cars to quick lube shops. Please take your car to a real mechanic, even for an oil change.
