Save Our Honeybees - Imagine a World Without Them
2008-05-14 06:01:00
Almost a year ago I wrote about our need as a society to Save the Bees. Unfortunately things are not any better for our fuzzy black and gold friends. One of my daily blogreads, Blogickal, turned me onto a site Help the Honey Bees by Haagen-Daas which educates about their plight and allows you to “make ...

Not Quite an Emergency, But ?
2008-05-13 12:56:00
It seems that somehow we are back at square one with my eldest daughter and the depression issues she has been coping with.  So yes that means we are firmly planted back in crisis mode.  Again, I do not want to go into detail because, frankly, I want her to maintain her privacy. What I can ...
Pagan Video Tuesday - Starhawk - Place of Power
2008-05-13 06:01:00
Starhawk is one of the first authors on Wicca that I ever read. I love her classic text, The Spiral Dance: A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Goddess, as well as her works of fiction, The Fifth Sacred Thing and Walking to Mercury. While I myself am not much of an activist (short of ...

How I Became A Mom
2008-05-12 07:32:00
I can’t believe I have been blogging for a couple years now, and I haven’t blogged about the day I became a mom! I’ve mentioned it here and there, but never did a post dedicated to that wonderful, awesome day. In celebration of Mother’s Day, I’d like to share the best day of ...

New Hope Day Trip Photo Recap
2008-05-10 06:01:00
If you recall on Sunday I wrote about our trip to New Hope in a post titled “Who Would Throw Away a Perfectly Good Squirrel”.  It took GamerDude a couple of days to download the photos from the camera and then another couple of days for me to get on his machine, as opposed to my laptop, to upload the photos onto Photo bucket.  For your viewing pleasure: At the end of our day I found these irises outside the New Hope Winery. I am pleasantly surprised with how well this closeup shot came out We also came across this gorgeous old tree there. My eldest is almost 5′2″ so you can use that to determine the size of the tree. We were wandering by the water out behind one of New Hope’s tattoo parlors feeding ducks and geese and I loved the contrast of the fresh pink blossoms up against the weathered wall.  I also loved the contrast of these wee delicate flowers growing on this low stone wall. And this post would not be complete without showing you the squi...

Pagan Music Friday - Your Future is Unwritten - Today Begins a New Life
2008-05-09 06:01:00
I know that I’m “cheating” again with this blog feature by highlighting a mainstream song instead of a Pagan tune. However lately it has become one of my favorite songs because of its messages: to embrace moments of beauty to use each day as a fresh start to believe in the potential of your own life It is a great uplifting song on a dreary down type of day.  It is a wonderful reminder the the endless possibilities that each day allows.  I hope you like it as much as I do. Unwritten download for $0.90 video is close-captioned with the lyrics 3:45 “I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only...

Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow - Part 2
2008-05-09 00:31:00
Just this morning on my twitter account I was lamenting that I needed a day off.  I was only about 45 minutes into my work day when I received a call telling me that Miss Artistic (the Elder child) had thrown up on a table and needed to be picked up from school.  Since GamerDude was sick and needed a doctor appointment (and therefore the use of our one car) anyway I stayed home for the day accepting the inevitable loss of pay.  During our time together on our shared “day off” Miss Artistic & I discussed a commissioned piece of art I am going to pay her to work on.  I am going to have her re-do our top graphic and from there work on buttons and whatnot for the side-bars.  I sketched up what I want and will pay her when the work is completed.  I also talked with her about ideas for a CafePress store where I would pay her for the design and then a per-item bonus on every item that sells.  It is a way for me to allow to to earn extra pocket money while also encour...

Yesterday Today and Tomorrow - Sick Hubby & Family Life
2008-05-08 13:07:00
Well GamerDude is sick, officially and beyond any doubt.  It is either some kind of virus or (as is my own guess) an upper respiratory infection.  I’m betting on the later myself. It all started Tuesday night when my normal frequent throughout the night wakings were even more frequent and accompanied by either the sensation of the bed bouncing or the sound of moaning from beside me.  I wrote it off at the time as a bad back flare.  It was only at 5am when he got out of bed, succumbing to the lure of Advil I woke up enough to coherantly ask him what was going on to be told he was sick as opposed to in pain. Yesterday I left him out a paper cup and the canister of salt to use for gargling and the largest mug me have with a note reminding him to drink lots of tea.  I came home from work with OJ and Chinese soup.  Today I will be calling and setting him up with an appointment at the doctor as Im pretty sure he is in need of an antibiotic. Today I will most likely be needing ...

Saving Money With Online Coupons
2008-05-07 03:23:00
I am not always as frugal as I should be, I admit it.  But when I do shop I nearly always avoid paying full price and I have passed this mind-set onto my kids.  They are both of the opinion that given a $25 budget for new shoes they would much rather buy shoes at “discount stores” like Walmart or Payless where they can get 2, 3, or even more pairs of sneakers for the price of one.  They have both been trained to peruse clearance racks at clothing shops, video game stores, and even bookstores. But what to do when you don’t have time to shop or need something that isn’t available in your local stores?  Shop online of course!  Most of my own shopping for the holiday season is done online every year, not only because of the convenience but because I tend to find that I can get better deals with less effort that way.  And those deals are always better when I take the extra few minutes to look through clearance “racks” and look for and use onlin...

Pagan Video Tuesday - Charge of the Goddess - Sign Language - ASL
2008-05-06 06:57:00
Yes its that time again - Pagan Video Tuesday. One of the things about me that you might not know is that I have been facinated by and drawn to ASL (american sign language) since grade school. It probably began when I got my first pair of glasses and the doctor told me I was ...

Who Would Throw Away A Perfectly Good Squirrel?
2008-05-04 16:30:00
Oh our Mother the Earth, oh our Father the Sky, Your children are we, and with tired backs We bring you the gifts that you love. Then weave for us a garment of brightness. May the wrap be the bright light of morning; May the fringes be the falling rain; May the borders be the standing rainbow. Thus weave for us a garment ...

A Brief Note - A Beltane Outing
2008-05-02 19:29:00
I have worked 17 days straight and tomorrow I am taking off.   So far the weatherman’s prediction for tomorrow is looking relatively clear.  At least clear enough for us to feel comfortable planning a trip to New Hope, PA.  The plan is to walk, browse my favorite Witchy stores as well as the shops that ...

Catching Up
2008-04-28 06:01:00
Things here in Mama Kelly’s hearth are about the same as they have been.  My eldest is holding her own I guess.  We take each day as it comes and try and support her as best we can during the darker moments.  My youngest is, for the most part, her happy self though she is ...
Blog Your Blessings Sunday - A Week of Gratitude
2008-04-27 06:01:00
Walking in the Summer rain, Noisy wee-folk in their play, In hush that stills a boisterous day, In waterbeads on windowpane. In bell-clear tones when robin sings, Dew-kissed web a spider weaves, Rich and gold of Autumn leaves, And fairy-flakes that Winter brings. A gentle pat upon my cheek, In glancing moonbeams on a lake, In happy laughter children make While wading in a rushing creek. In ...

Conversation With A Spirit Guide
2008-04-23 07:01:00
Recently I posted about starting our new blog Stir the Cauldron (Creative Inspiration or I’m Just Crazy), and how I felt that is was “inspired” into being created by something other then just my love of Tarot and that perhaps there might some nudging from a Spirit Guide . The other day I decided to sit down ...

Happy Earth Day
2008-04-22 22:01:00
I hope everyone gets to spend some time outside to enjoy the fresh air and celebrate Earth Day. I’m stuck in my cubicle for another hour, but looking forward to a nice walk before dinner. Just because today is the “official” day, doesn’t mean we have to only celebrate today. We can celebrate Earth Day every ...

Pagan Video Tuesday - A Shop You Should See
2008-04-22 06:43:00
This is a slight departure from my typical Pagan Video Tuesday content. It is more of a commercial than an informative or meditative video. That being said, I posted it because it was just recently posted by one of my blogreads, Willow Goldentree. I have been reading her husband’s online comic The Many Moons of Astra ...

Blog Your Blessings Sunday - A Pagan Take on Christian Prayer
2008-04-20 06:01:00
Lord, we know what peace is. Peace is a mother tenderly holding her child. Peace is a firm handshake of trust between friends. Peace is complete emotional security. Peace is living unencumbered with a full sense of joy. Peace is expressing Thanksgiving for concrete blessings. For the peace gained from the love and memory of spouses and children, we thank you ...

2008-04-19 07:05:00
As most of you know, last month on the Spring Equinox I started Stir the Cauldron (all about Tarot), a companion blog to this one. There is a bit more to how this blog came about besides my love of Tarot and my desire to own LOTS of Tarot deck, so I decided to write a post about it.  ...

Just a fun diversion
2008-04-18 12:52:00
I came across a new (well its new to me) online game site that allows you to try and win cash prizes.  Unlike other games which tease you with a “jackpot” this is more straight-forward in that the “games” are puzzles that need to be solved. Members of the site have unlimited chances to attempt ...

Pagan Ritual Thursday - Beltane and Samhain

Beltane Ritual by the Correllian Nativist Church International and the Temple of Astral Light at Trinity Temple in Albany, New York on May 5, 2007. this is a non-English video but as the Southern Hempisphere will be celebrating Samhain as we in the Northern Hemisphere will be celebrating Beltane it seemed appropriate. ...

A Brief Update
