Religion is a bad word !
2006-09-07 15:45:14 Don’t confuse yourself when being asked what religion you are. I never say I am non denominational, I say I am a Christian. I don’t do religion period. Here is the definition of religion I plan on dissecting this morning. Religion is a system of social coherence based on a common group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object, person, unseen being, or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine or highest truth, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought. It is sometimes used interchangeably with “faith” or “belief system”[1], but is more socially defined than that of personal convictions. So basically the first line says its a social system. Does God want us to be social about our personal relationship with Him? God?s house has many rooms
2006-09-07 03:45:03 How comforting is it to realize that God ’s house has enough rooms for us all? How can we not want to stay at His place. After a long day at work yesterday I realized I was not giving up everything to God and just let go. We need to do this on a regular basis and I truly believe this will allow us a spot in God’s house. John 14:2-3 - In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:23 - Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Oh my God ! What have they done ?
2006-09-07 03:45:03 Well I was planning on taking the day off but when I read this article I truly think my blood began to boil. These so called Christians who allow gays as their pastors are now trying to change the names of God in court ! Oh my gosh, its taking everything in this prophet to stop from swearing and going nuts on these Presbyterians. How else can they change their doctrine to fit their latest needs. Geesh, I am sad in these times that these are the people representing Christ to folks in the media. I think the pinked haired Jan Crouch would fit right in with these people. I know we are called to love everyone as ourselves but these people are twisting the word of God to fit their own worldly views. The ones you meet at your Church who are everyday people who love the Lord and go out there and do His work in a manner that is okay in most people’s minds. And then you have people like Pat Robertson, the Tammy Fay-Baker wannabe on the TBN ( with PINK Hair Jan Crouch ), people who talk about evolution like they actually know what happened back then, and more. These people are killing our title of Christians. To be a Christian, you are to become Christ “like”. That doesn’t mean sticking out like a sore thumb. It doesn’t mean saying things that you know you have to retract in the media. If you are in a position of media authority, you need to learn to control yourself in front of the millions of viewers you have. Are they able to just run over the border and become a US citizen? NO this is not what I am speaking of, I don’t do political issues, I get to angry !! I am talking of citizens of God’s house. 2006-09-07 03:45:03 As of late due to the birth of our first child almost 6 months ago, the topic of parenting has become a usual topic in our household. What does it mean to bring a child up for first time parents. Well with books and friends and our own parents we continue to grow but we want to bring her up in the like of Christ. We want our daughter to be a God fearing woman in everything she does. Right now I just started reading a great book that I am discussing with a buddy of mine who is expecting at the end of September, his first child. The book is My Father, My Friend: Lessons on Life and Love, its a great book that is just chalk full of common sense that we all need to hear. Sometimes a book can be a bit over the top in terms of telling us, guiding us in what to do with our children. This book comes at you from the point of view of the childhood of the writer and how his father showed God to him in his family life. Encouragement ? we all need it
2006-09-07 03:45:03 Throughout your day how nice is when your boss or a friend calls you up just to see how you were doing? I think its a great thing to get a little positive push in the right direction to get your day started or to uplift your day a bit. Encouragement is a must have in a walk with Christ. I truly think that its a very important part of your relationship with God. Without it, it becomes a very long road ahead of us that many have strayed from or even quit walking. It is our duty to one another to step up to the plate and encourage encourage encourage !! We don’t have to be annoying or intrusive about it, we just need to be real and show we care about each other. Yesterday in Church our pastor had pointed out a very poignant verse that I have never even stopped to think about. More articles from this author:2006-09-07 03:45:03 Last night at bible study we found out that our good friends who have recovered already this year from a traumatizing miscarriage are now carrying healthy twins !!! This is such great news for them as we are so thankful we have healthy children growing inside of her. They are definitely out of the woods as they are only 6 weeks along. I just ask that if you all would pray for them keep them in your minds and prayers. They need some of God’s great love now to watch over these two precious human children. Gosh that rocks !!!
