Getting Traffic from CraigsList.org
2007-03-01 17:35:03
I’m not an expert is search engine traffic so I thought of alternative ways to gain traffic. Craig slist .org gets alot of traffic every single day; the site is ranked to 39 on Alexa.com. There are ways to tap into this traffic and lead some of those visitors to your site. The easiest way to do this is to make a page about the item you want to sell on your site with all the info describing the item like you do on eBay. Then post an ad on Craigslist and write a little info about that item. Then underneath the info make a link to your site to the page where it describes the item you’re selling in full detail. Tell the visitors to read the full info about the item by clicking on the link to your site. Try it, you’ll be surprised of how much traffic you can gain by investing 5 minutes of your time with CraigsList .org. Bookmark to:

Helping Guest Bloggers Make Money
2007-03-01 17:35:03
A way to help your blog get some quality posts is to get some guest bloggers to write some posts for you. A way to promote other bloggers to write for you is to give them the opportunity to make money out of your blog. A way I figured out to do this was to allow guest bloggers to implement their AdSense ads to be displayed with their posts. I asked Google if it was allowed and they said it is. The following is the email reply from Google: Thanks for checking in with us. Yes, any AdSense publisher may rotate his or her ad code with another publisher’s code or have both code’s on the same page at the same time as long as both publishers have approved AdSense accounts. Please be aware that the revenue generated from these ads will be directly tied to the specific account indicated in the ad code. I also recommend that you read through the AdSense Terms and Conditions at https://www.google.com/adsense/terms to ensure that your implementation does not generate invalid im...

Heading to a New Direction
2007-02-28 05:33:02
Today I had a chat with Divya Uttam of Blogging to Fame and we discussed about web site traffic and about DesiNotes.com. She gave me alot of good advice on keywords and getting search engine traffic. Since my blog is a bit too broad in topics I am going to take it to a narrower direction. This blog is based on advice and therefore I will make it a blog full of free advice. The previous posts will remain as they are now, but for my future posts I will include important keywords with the content flow to get more search engine traffic. The categories will also remain as how they are now. Since this site’s domain name is well known and the site’s popularity is growing slowly, I won’t change the domain name. Everything will be as it is now but it will be tweaked with a narrower theme of just an advice blog. On a previous post I mentioned that blogs with a broad range of topics have a hard time getting a niche and I don’t know what niche this site will get...

Rising Up the Ladder of the Blogsphere
2007-02-27 23:32:01
On Technorati this site is now ranked to be around 53,000 in the blog rank position. Truly it’s a great success from where I was about two months ago. Every day more and more sites are linking to my site. When I started out in blogging my goal was to be in the top 100,000 of Technorati, after I reached that goal my next goal was to be in the top 50,000. By the rate of back links it looks as if it won’t be long till DesiNotes.com get in Technorati’s top 50,000 blogs. I learned alot from reading blog tutorials, talking to other bloggers, and just exploring other blogs. My main goal is not to make alot of money, but to get my voice heard in the blogsphere. Blog s are the alternative to the sell out media, and if a blog is well known on the web then anything written on that blog will reach many people. Bookmark to:

Choosing the Right Web Hosting Company
2007-02-27 11:31:05
Choosing a hosting service can be difficult for most of us when we shop for the right service for the right price. I have been shopping for a good hosting company for years, moving my web site files from one hosting service to another. Eventually I found a good service that gives great customer service with the best service that I ever had, at a great price. I found Host Gator.com a great hosting company for all my needs to run my online business. I probably mentioned this company before but since I loved their so much I decided to review them. NOTE: I am not getting paid to review their site; however, if you sign up by clicking on the banner ad then I do get comission for referring a customer to them. This site DesiNotes.com along with all my other domains are hosted in a single account with this hosting service. I make over $1100 every month from my web sites and I only pay $10 to this hosting company. They offer several services to choose from, I chose the R...

$97 in One Day from Google AdSense
2007-02-27 11:31:05
It’s true, yesterday I have made over $97. I was stunned to see that I have earned that much money in a single day from AdSense . I don’t know what I’m doing exactly other than adding new and high quality content, but I will continue to do so to increase my earnings per day. I can’t give you the exact value of the impressions and clicks or the CTR for that day due to Google ’s terms. However, if you want to make as much as I make then please follow what I do on this blog. Take my advice and apply it to your blog. Bookmark to:

More than a Blog
2007-02-25 17:28:02
Steve Pavlina suggested that bloggers should make their blogs more than just a blog. I put it to the test and not to my surprise I got a better response from my visitors than to have just a blog. On the category section you can see on this site is “podPress”, which is a section of the site that offers audio clips of certain contents. If you give your visitors more things to explore on your site then it’ll boost the quality of your site. With more different things on your site, it allows your visitors to stay longer on your site leading to better ranking for your site. Ranking is involved in this because search engines measure how long your visitors stay on your site. Some ideas for other things on your site are games, podcasting, jukebox, tv, videos, etc. Be competitive to give your readers more than what they ask for. The more positive things you put in your blog the better positive reposnse you will get out of your readers and other visitors from your s...

Blogging to Fame
2007-02-25 17:28:02
I was going through MyBlog Log sites and I found a site that caught my eye; it contained great tips and tricks and articles for blogging. ProBlogg er.net is a great site for blogging help but it’s not what I’m looking for as a small time blogger. I stumbled into Blogging to Fame by Divya Uttam and I love it. Her site is full of great content to help bloggers with tips and tricks, blog optimization, blog traffic, and more. Her articles states that she does research often before writing her articles which shows how credible her articles are. Divya’s articles are great motivational articles for bloggers who are serious about reaching a high position in the blogshpere. One of my favorites is her article of Understanding Traffic and assessing what it holds for your blog. This article explains in detail of the various forms of traffic good for blogging such as referral traffic and organic traffic. The article also helps motivates bloggers to do even better than be...
Use Google Analytics
2007-02-25 05:27:02
Google Anal ytics is a great tool for all publishers of websites of all kinds. I used it for two of my sites and it tells me exactly where my visitors come from, weather they hit my site directly, or from a search engine, or from another site. The best part of this tool is that you don’t have to pay a cent, it’s totally FREE. Not only that, this site tells me how many visitors are new and how many visitors are old. It also allows me to see a trend of how many page views and how many unique hits my sites gets per day. Expert webmasters will mention that a good webmaster is a webmaster who analyzes his or her own traffic. If you know where your traffic is coming from using this tool then you can focus on that traffic source to extract more traffic from there. What better company is there to trust other than Google themselves for analyzing web traffic, NONE, because Google’s tools are very accurate. So, if you are serious about analyzing web traffic try Google...

Budgeting Everyday
2007-02-25 05:27:02
I realized that if you budget everyday then saving money will be a habit. I constantly try my best to save and I constantly spend to a limit. People usually save up and spend and then they go through a period of time where they go on a budget and they don’t spend. This method can get a little bit frustrating, because everyday needs like car gas and food may not help with one’s budgeting time to time. I came up with a plan easier and less frustrating. It works for me but I don’t know if it may work for you. I constantly monitor how much I make everyday then I do my best to only spend 25% or less of that earnings. Let’s say I made $100 as my net earnings for a day, and 25% of that is $25 so, that day I do my best to spend less than $25 or less based on what I need and what I want. Try it, it may save you alot of money in both the short and long run. Bookmark to:

Everything is Based on Rewards
2007-02-24 05:27:08
The truth is no matter what we do every decision we make ties with how we can benefit from that decision. There is no such thing as making a decision or doing anything just of the hell of it, it all relates to how a person can benefit from it. For example, in a marriage, both spouses stay with one another because they benefit from each other by making each other happy; their benefit is happiness. Religious people do righteous deeds so they’ll please the Almighty and have easier entry to the heavens; they don’t do any good deeds if they didn’t benefit from them. Another example would be wars, countries wage wars on other countries for the benefit for more land to benefit their economy and to increase their powers. Ever y action we make comes with the expectation that some reward will come out of it for our benefit. Bookmark to:

Visual Progress Motivates Bloggers
2007-02-24 05:27:08
Visual progress such as rankings and back-links is a perfect motivation for bloggers working their way up. I chose Technorati.com ranks as my visual to motivate myself to blog more and more. As you go through my profile for DesiNotes.com on Technorati you can see the ranks and how many links from blogs are going to my site. That is the visual progress that I see which is helping me stay motivated. Others use Alexa.com as their visual progress for motivation. I don’t quite recommend Alexa because they won’t update the stats everyday for a site unless that site is in the their top 100,000 sites rankings. If you feel as if you’re not going anywhere with your site, then use a public ranking site to see where you are on the web. Seeing is believing as it is told, if you can see your self as number one in those rankings then you can get to be number one; try it, you have nothing to loose. Bookmark to:

Second Blog in the Making
2007-02-24 05:27:08
One of my visitors pointed out that separating my posts to multiple blogs can be a good thing. I took that visitor’s advice and I created BDBlog ger.com. The blog is mainly about my country of Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s past politicans are ruthlessly being arrested and tortured by the military for their corrupt actions when they were in power. And with this crack down of these politicians a new leader, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner, has entered the country’s political arena to try to gain the position of the coutnry’s next prime minister. I was so proud of the news of Dr. Yunus’s decision that I decided to create a blog to discuss the potential, achievements, and the problems of the country of Bangladesh. Bookmark to:

International Language Day
2007-02-24 05:27:08
Today February 21, is the established Inter national Language Day recognized by the international community. This day commemorates the blood that was spilled by the Western Pakistani military against the Eastern Pakistanis for standing up for their identity of being Bengalis. “Bangla” is the 4th or the 5th most spoken language in the world with people from Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh speaking it. With over 250 million speakers it’s hard to ignore what the people of East Pakistan, now The Republic of Bangladesh established in 1971, did in order to speak their language freely and establish it as their national language. Bangladesh, is the only country in the world that fought for their identity, with speaking their language freely as one of their motives for fighting. And the people of that country celebrate this day by singing songs in Bangla and holding big festivals all over the country. Bookmark to:

How to Write a Good Essay
2007-02-24 05:27:08
Essays are hard to write for some, but for others it is really easy. I got back two papers from my two instructors and they both say the same thing, that I point out great points in the paper. The order I go by writing my essays is by 1) body 2) introduction with my thesis statement 3) conclusion. I choose to write the body first because it’s easier to write an introduction of what the paper is about after writing the body. And after writing the body first, it’s easier to write the thesis statement to introduce the reader of what the argument is about in a single sentence. The way I pick out key points of what I want to argue is by supporting myself from credible sources such as a book or an article written by a legitimate author like an expert in the field. For example, if I were to write for a supporting argument I would write a sentence about what proves my argument. Then in the paragraph, “a quote from a credible source”; then within the same paragrap...

Google to build Artificial Intelligence
2007-02-19 17:21:01
901am.com reports: In a speech Friday night to the Annual American Association for the Advancement of Science conference, Google co-founder Larry Page let slip with a truth we all suspected: ?We have some people at Google [who] are really trying to build artificial intelligence (AI) and to do it on a large scale? It?s not as far off as people think.? Yep, you read that right, Google is trying to build real AI. The worlds most dominant online company, with the largest conglomeration of computing power the world has ever seen, is trying to build artificial intelligence, and according to Page it isn?t that far away either. The term Googlebot is about to take on a whole new meaning, and in the not to distant future as well. But Google is a good company, you may well say, after all Do No Evil is the company mantra. But true artificial intelligence not only has serious ethical and moral implications, self aware intelligence may also not be controllable, after all it thinks for itself and...

How DesiNotes Came to be
2007-02-18 23:19:04
About eight years ago, when I first started out being a web developer I didn’t know jack of how to make a good web site. I tried using the free hosting plans on GeoCities.com, FortuneCity.com, and Go.com. On those free services I made some kind of sites with the best of my little knowledge of HTML and it looked like crap. I copied and pasted content from other sites to get visitors because I didn’t know any better. At that time the internet wasn’t as lively as it is now, because Google didn’t exist then; if it did then the majority of the internet users didn’t know about it. I was just a beginner trying to be like the big boys but I couldn’t because I didn’t know anything and there was no one around me to teach me. However, I learned from the big sites, I learned their codings and I slowly developed my skills. I learned HTML through Microsoft’s FrontPage Express 2.0 pre-installed on my Windows 98 computer; at that time Microsof...

Don?t Depend on Others for your Benefit
2007-02-18 05:18:06
Basically if you want something done, do it yourself. No one else will have the interest of doing your job other than yourself. If you needed some work to finish and it will benefit you then the best person to do it is yourself. All through out my high school years and my college years I learned that no one will help me to get through life except myself. I can’t depend on anyone to get me a job, get a car, or even get settled period. If I want something in life, I have to work to get it myself. It will only benefit me so I have to work on it myself. So, if you think your friend or even your dad will always help you get this or that, then you’re in a dependable state of mind which is bad in the long run. They may get whatever you want for you here and there, but sooner or later you will have to work on something yourself in order to get it. Because you’ll have no where to go, if who ever you depend on, can’t do your work or get you what you need. The be...

The admin of the entertainment blog, Random Good Stuff, has invited me to guest blog for him on his site. I gladly accepted his invitation. His blog has alot of interesting stuff on it and lot of it is funny. Not only that, he allowed other people to post on his blog as guest bloggers. A while back he made me a co-author of his blog. If you go to the MyBlog Log page of RGS you will see my ID “sunnex” as one of the authors. I was impressed so I posted one of my favorite posts, my iPod robbery post from this site. Taking it Step-by-Step
2007-02-17 17:17:02
As you’re working to get a higher education or a higher position in the corporate world it may seem overwhelming to see the big picture. You may think about the entire picture altogether, and you may think to yourself that it’s hard and you may not get there. The problem with the majority of people is that they try to look at the entire picture, instead of the little things they should concentrate on, to get to the next level of what they are trying to reach. Weather you’re a businessman trying to raise your marginal revenue, or a sales employee trying to raise your position to a corporate position, you’re going to have to take steps to get there. Another example would be, if you are a college student going for medical school, you should concentrate on getting A’s in your college classes than to see yourself as a doctor. In order to reach medical school you should work on getting good grades in college so you’ll have an obsolete chance of ent...

Reviewing Blogs to Gain Links
2007-02-17 11:16:02
If you kept up with DesiNotes.com you can notice that I have reviewed several blogs. The reason I do this is to increase my number of links to my site. I have used Blog Carnival time and time again and I gained a PR 3 rank, now by revieweing blogs I can gain more and more back links to increase my PR to a higher number. Review ing blogs by emphasizing the positive materials of the blogs will help you gain the loyalty of the owners of that blogs. It’s OK to point out the negative things of the blog but do your best to stay with the positive things about it. By doing so, there is a good possiblity the owner of the blog will send readers to your blog. So try it, you got nothing to loose only to gain. See yourself to your Destination
2007-02-17 11:16:02
Sometimes, life can be challenging and it may seem as if your not going anywhere. What I realized is that life is what you want it to be. No one can be where they are unless they put themselves into that position. For example, a teenager in juvenile puts himself there by doing gang activities carelesly and getting caught. You become educated by putting yourself in college after high school. Now if you want to go big, if you want to be a millionaire you have to see yourself as a millionaire. If you get into one business to another and keep on saving and invest smart by educating yourself then you can be a millionaire. If you see yourself as a CEO of a large company. Not all destinations can be achieved right away, some destinations can take a lifetime to achieve. Anyone can see themselves as anything, but how to get there is the challenge. Because of the challenges most people backout and give up their dreams of their destinations. So, if you want go somewhere in life see your...

Take the Time to Blog
2007-02-16 05:14:04
There are days we just have to rush to blog a post and we are all guilty of it. This is a bad habit for bloggers who wants to blog good. Sometimes we read some news and we rush to blog about it and other times we are just rushing just to keep up with the search engines and to keep our frequency of blogging running. Either way rushing to blog a post is a big NO. Google recognizes blogs to be sources of good content so you should do your best to make time to blog good quality content. If you rush in a blog post then you will have spelling and grammer mistakes. Always take the time to proofread and check over your blog post. So, it’s better to have a quality content created with time than to have content by rushing. Bookmark to:

Be Careful When Buying Used Cell Phones
2007-02-16 05:14:04
If you ever went phone shopping on eBay or Amazon you probably have seen posts where used cell phones are for sale. Usually these cell phones are up to 70% less than the new ones. I have bought a used cell phone and when it came it looked fine and all but it didn’t get any signal. Luckly the phone was cheap so I didn’t really lose that much money. Sometimes it’s OK to buy used cell phones but in general do your best not to buy them because there is no guarantee that it’ll work like a new one. The sellers will guarantee you that it’ll work but the duration of how long it’ll work is uncertain. Not only that, new cell phones come with warranty; if you are buying an expensive phone around $200 it’s only smart to buy a phone with a warranty so your money wouldn’t be wasted. Bookmark to:

Selling a Million Apples Business Plan
2007-02-14 11:11:12
So what do I mean by “selling the apple”, it’s concept that I developed by reading and hearing many business plans and my experience in the retail industry. If you have a business in which you sell products, then I highly recommend that you think over this concept. May be in the future you may implement this concept in your business. What is really the “selling the apple” concept? It’s basically saying, that if I was selling apples then I would rather sell a million apples for one dollar than to sell one apple for a million dollars. It’s simple as that. If you really think about it, you would never buy any single product for a million dollars. When you are selling something to a consumer think about yourself as the consumer. See yourself as your own shopper and think if it’s a good decision to buy the product for the price asked. Ask yourself weather you would buy your own product for the asking price. If you run a business in w...

Ideas for Valentines Day
2007-02-14 11:11:12
Valentines Day is tommorow and alot of people are getting ready to go out and spend time with their sweethearts. One of the great things you can give to your sweetheart, as in from guys, are flowers. I looked through some sites and I found 1-800-Florals to be the one with one of the lowest price out of all the things that I looked through. They have next day shipping so it’s no problem if you order now. Don’t just stop with flowers try buying a teddy bear for your Valentine. You can also go to a build-a-bear shop and make a bear for your sweetheart. Also, go to the nearest mall and buy a box of Godiva chocolates or, what I recommend, Ferraro Rocher truffles. You can take her to a nice formal Chinese or French formal restaurant. And at night you can take her to the beach, if you live near a shore, and walk with her bear feet. There are alot more things you can do for Valentine’s day, just be creative. Bookmark to:
