The Good, the Bad, the Glamourous Sides of Life: the Authoress Venesha!
2007-08-13 16:30:00 ne of the most interesting projects of Sky Sister to date, the Urban Fiction Novel by Venesha "Mistress Me" will be out in 2 weeks! The release is much anticipated - pre-orders have skyrocketed since the first offering! The reason for this is the Authoress herself - the story may be fiction, but her knowledge isn't!Venesha went to Texas Southern University in Houston for 1-year until she met the man of her dreams, who happened to be an NFL player at the time. This man introduced her to a life filled with different ?flights of fancy? as some would say. From first-class trips to the most elusive islands, to gifts that you would only dream of having, VENESHA?s 6-year stay in Houston, Texas was a life spent with endless adventures and new-found freedom. It is this lifestyle that propelled her to pen her fictional novel, Mistress Me, along with the desire to unleash a talent within ? writing. Going back to college at the age of 30 served as crucial stepping-stone in VENESHA?s life. S... More About: News , Design , Life , Events , Sides

I Love a Good Barter.
2007-08-12 20:37:00 ere's the latest Myspace design: Leslie Andrews Photography based in Atlanta, GA. I did this as a trade/barter arrangement (I am really into those if they are worthwhile!) When you see her portfolio, you will understand my decision! I will experience a photoshoot with her expertise the next time I'm in the ATL! I can't wait - I'm dying to get a few random/extreme shots for the business. More on that as it develops. Anyway, she wanted an overlay design (not the usual/classic design of most profiles). I decided to do a header that would take up the entire page until the viewer scrolled down - kind of a "grand entrance" feel. The initial typography has a subtle glow but also has a distinct urban edge. Both elements were necessary to match her magical/editorial/urban style. See her portfolio on myspace.com/urbanphotography.P.S. MySpace's recent code changes (MySpace links, etc. have the tendency to throw coding off! The bottom of the page is not showing the friends pic... More About: Design , Love , Good , Bart

Saturday's Stroll
2007-08-12 04:52:00 he weekend was in full swing, and I found 2 clutches today (will share them when I've fixed them up)! But it looked as if others had found my usual sources! So of course it was time to move on.I strolled downtown Melbourne (Florida), and found very very interesting things - particularly at Twice Treasured Antiques on Waverly. Apparently developers are getting ready to ruin the quaint feel with a condominium, to the dismay of the shop owner, Anne. The funny thing is, I love lofts and condos - but maybe it was the whole vintagey-antiquey vibe that made me see it as kind of a sad thing. It will have a drastic effect on the area's ambiance, and the businesses - both negative and positive. She said it would ruin the view of the sky...maybe so. Nothing/no-one can resist change indefinitely...I turned away after awhile and looked around the pleasant shop - there were so many beautiful pieces from bygone eras! Etsy is C'est Chic!
2007-08-10 23:59:00 irst, I have to start with an interesting quote I came across from cestchic.blogspot.com:" 'It?s just fashion. Is it? Is it really?'Marc Jacobs Fall 2007 ... echoing the most elegant of the '30s. (I love this look.)Does fashion predict or presage historical events? (That is, the '30s were the period of Fascist incubation prior to World War II.)"I, like many people, can get tired of mass produced items day in and day out. Now, these products have their place, but I can't imagine having a wardrobe entirely of the stuff!Etsy is a site for all things handmade. I came across this site a few months ago while looking for venues to sell my upcoming jewelery line, and I immediately became obsessed because of all of the interesting work of the other Artisans! This skirt is one I absolutely fell for...it's so unusual! Why I Bother...
2007-08-09 16:17:00 ome days in the air are better than others, some of the commercial maneuvers are tougher to pick up (tough to pick up = doing them to absolute perfection:very little error is allowed...I'm sure you're thinking, "As it should be!"). Anyway, Add that to an un-air conditioned 4 seat low wing aircraft for 2 hours of flight in 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and what you've got is something very unglamorous - flight training. Why do I bother? Besides the fact that I'm in love with flying, this situation is only temporary...(see below...ah, yes)(see above)One day soon...ah, yes.

Saturday's Stroll: the Eyewear Hunt
2007-08-05 08:36:00 t gets tougher every year to me to find a pair of glasses that I like...so much that I skipped the search last year and tried to go the contacts route...not for me. I can't fit it into my routine...putting them on and getting used to them, it took me 10 minutes the last time I tried! So I will likely wear glasses until I get the courage for some sort of permanent eye correction... So now that it's painfully obvious to me that I have to let the present frames go to donation, I am on a hunt for my next pair. The image above is a shot of the pair I wear now...trying to do something completely different this time. Here's a few pairs I found interesting, the 1st 2 are Dolce and Gabbana, the next are by Roberto Cavalli, the last one is Bvlgari...the first D&G pair may be a bit too glittery for me but I loved the salmon color! Welcome the Weekend: the Tree in Winter Ring
2007-08-03 17:10:00 nspired by my overly-romantic memories of winter (I've been living/working/training in 105 degree Fahrenheit conditions for a few years now with occasional visits to winter in New Jersey and ATL)! 2007-08-03 16:16:00 artha my icon - when women wore womens clothes...all the time!I can appreciate modern attitudes and fashions like many others, but there is always a part of me that wants to live in some sort of nostalgic glamour world at least part of the time...Where getting dressed up all the time is a requirement (okay, some of you are thinking, "I do that all the time!" But in my line of study, that doesn't happen...not right now! :-)Eartha Kitt IS nostalgic glamour, she made it her own. 2007-07-31 18:29:00 he heritage of Hong Kong and its cities is known the world over. Hong Kong is a unique fusion of Eastern and Western cultures where the old and the new live side by side. Its incense-filled temples, glass-and-steel skyscrapers and noisy festivals have made Hong Kong the premier tourist destination in Asia. The nightlife is said to be incredible...Causeway Bay is one of the busiest, hippest, happening spots in Hong Kong. Day or night it is a great place for shopping, dining, hanging out and people watching.Okay, okay. The real reason? I MUST attend the annual Hong Kong Shopping Festival!!! Apparently people get dressed up to go spend, spend, spend! Asian styles, both classic and modern, have a unique twist known the world over, so I can imagine all of the incredible clothes I'd come back with! Tuesday's Touch of Luxe
2007-07-31 18:01:00 his time I came across a product from Italy that made it's debut in the U.S. a little while ago! "Cleo" is yogurt based, which is known as being good for the body - inside and out. Like edible yogurt, it's available in a range of "flavors" - mint, chocolate, vanilla and red fruits. Get it at drugstore.com.Now, these shoes for fall are also on my maybe-wishlist...I will, however, look for another pair "inspired" by them at a lower price point...(hopefully still in leather!) An Ocean of Luxe
2007-07-30 17:28:00 used to order things from her collection when she had only a Brooklyn business number and she printed her own product labels! I would order a Cotton Candy Sea Salt Scrub, Almond Cookie Body Mist, and Khoret Amen Hair Oil...Now it's so nice to see how much her company has grown, and she is a vendor of Sephora (for a while now)! My latest product infatuation is the Ocean Body Collection - "Lavender and rosemary essential oils are mixed with hyacinth, watermelon, and cucumber to create a romantic, unisex scent that's a Carol's Daughter customer favorite! This glorious collection of bath, shower, body, and fragrance products makes layering this fresh scent pure pleasure." Ahh, yes. See it ,love it, buy it at Sephora.
