Apple iPod 80GB
2007-07-13 03:13:00 At Apple 's September 12 media event, Steve Jobs jumped right into introducing an updated fifth-generation iPod. Not a tremendous surprise here, as we believed the sixth-generation "true video iPod" would not be announced until later in the year or even early in 2007. Underneath the familiar and still-scratch-prone polycarbonate and metal skin of the updated iPod (a.k.a. the 5.5 generation, or 5.5G) lies a more mature iPod, many steps wiser and more able than its one-year-old predecessor. The iPod gains many incremental improvements, including a brighter screen and better video battery life, but probably the most appealing aspect is the tantalizing price points of $249 for the 30GB version and $349 for the huge 80GB version (available in both white and black). While it may still not fully address the needs of a new population of iTunes movie watchers, the updated iPod is the best one to date. More About: Ipod , Apple ipod
Creative ZEN
2007-07-13 03:13:00 While a deck of cards is small for most of us, of course in the world of micro-electronics, smaller is better. Hence, there is another family of smaller players than contain mini/micro hard drives with 4-6 GB capacity, good for carrying about 800-1500 songs in your shirt pocket. A little lighter, a little smaller, these players are great if you are not concerned with storing thousands and thousands of songs. Again, the leader in this category is the iPod Mini (6 GB, around $200, 18 hours of playback time!). Practically feather-lite in your hand (3.6oz), you can easily strap it to your arm or throw it in a pocket to go jogging, to the gym, etc. All the Apple products use the iTunes software for managing, storing, and syncing your music collection between your PC and your MP3 player. The Rio Carbon (5GB) is a cheaper alternative at about $129, and it gets great reviews for both functionality and sound qaulity. The Creative Zen Micro (5 GB, about $189) is another alternative, but again,... Coby MP-C7052
2007-07-13 03:13:00 The Coby MP-C7000 is a cute-looking MP3 player. It's about the size of the iPod Nano, but with rounded edges, and it's ensconced in a rather Mac-like white-plastic casing. An ample (1.8-inch) color LCD dominates the front of the device, and a five-way control pad sits below that. On the back of the player, you'll find an unusual thing: an on/off switch. A mechanical power switch isn't a bad thing, but it's certainly rare in MP3 players these days. Finally, we have two annoying proprietary ports: a super-mini USB on the bottom and a 2.5mm headphone jack on top. The MP-C7000 won't work with your standard stereo headphones without a 2.5mm-to-3.5mm adapter.

Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about the new Apple iPod Nano - features, reviews, prices, pictures. Enjoy! See the categories below to get started learning about the iPod nano... The new iPod nano from Apple again ups the ante in the MP3 player game. The nano is a flash-memory based player, like the iPod Shuffle - but they remembered to add a color screen this time! It is thinner than a #2 pencil, and looks like a flashy remote control to open your car doors or something." More About: Ipod , Ipod nano
iRiver Clix 2GB
2007-07-13 03:13:00 CNET has a review of the iRiver Clix 2GB and writes," f the iRiver Clix looks familiar, that's because it's simply an improved version of the iRiver U10. You get the same cool, miniature TV-like design and great features, alongside an enhanced user interface and superb integration with Windows Media Player 11 and MTV Urge. In fact, the device is launching in tandem with the media software and the music service because Microsoft, iRiver, and MTV worked closely to create the perfect symbiotic relationship between software, service, and hardware. We at CNET hesitate to call anything perfect, but iRiver comes close with the Clix. Tagged at $169.99 for the 2GB and $199.99 for the 4GB, the Clix is much more competitively priced than its predecessor. Of course, we'd love to see a 6GB or 8GB version in the near future, but if you're looking for a WMA device and don't need more than 4GB of storage, check out this MP3 player--we're enamored with it." Samsung YP-K5 MP3 Player
2007-07-13 03:13:00 Trusted Reviews has a review of the Samsung YP-K5 MP3 Player and writes,"The K5 looks pretty sleek, with what appears to be an all black fascia when it?s not turned on. Once you feed it some juice though a bright OLED screen bursts into life and you notice a full array of touch sensitive buttons. Control is handled by four arrow buttons, with an OK type button at the centre ? pretty standard fare. You also get a menu button and two back buttons ? more on that later. I?m not the biggest fan of touch sensitive buttons, but I can?t complain too much about the controls on the K5. You definitely need to flick the ?hold? switch when you put the device in your pocket though, unless you want the volume randomly increasing or the track jumping. More About: Layer |
