Kerala team to kick off Inkel roadshow on April 12

thiruvananthapuram • Kerala ’s Left Democratic Front government will kick off the overseas roadshows to woo Non-Resident Indian (NRI) investments for its ambitious infrastructure public-private venture, Infrastructure Kerala Ltd, in GCC countries on April 12. A high level delegation led by Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem and Inkel special officer John Mathai will conduct shows in West Asia, where nearly 1.5 million Keralites are working. The nine-day itinerary ends on April 21. This will be followed by roadshows in Europe and the US. The government is planning to mobilise a capital of Rs15bn for the new company. Inkel, which was registered on March 9, with a paid-up capital of Rs1bn, will have a Government stake of 26 per cent. KOZHIKODE: Government Medical Coll ege , Kozhikode, which had been closed down for the past five days following a clash between the students of the college union and the Students' Federation of India (SFI), will be reopened on Thursday. P.V. Ramachandran, Principal, said the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting held on Wednesday decided to reopen the college. The meeting decided to set up a core committee, comprising teachers and parents, to take action against students found guilty during similar such issues. Strict action will be initiated against troublemakers. Another PTA meeting will be held on Thursday morning. The medical college has been witnessing clashes between the supporters of an independent group, which controls the union, and the SFI. Parthasarathy, director, Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode, inaugurated `Ragam,' the annual cultural festival of NIT-Calicut (NIT-C), on the NIT-C campus on Wednesday evening. G.R.C. Reddy, director, NIT-C, presided. Students' Council general secretary Deepak Jose spoke about the evolution of `Ragam' from a music festival to a veritable celebration of the varied and vibrant culture of India. Manu A, cultural secretary (Arts), K. Saseendran, staff advisor, NIT-C, and Bijesh A.S., third year representative, spoke on the occasion. Last year, more than 500 participants from over 75 colleges participated in Ragam. This year's `Ragam,' with the theme `Games of chances,' will have more than 70 competitive events and prizes totalling around Rs.2 lakh. Steps progressing for expansion of Kozhikode airport

Thiruvananthapuram, March 15. (PTI): Steps are on for the expansion and modernisation of the Kozhikode International Airport , Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told the State Assembly on Wednesday. The National Airport Authority of India has asked for 162 acres of land adjacent to the existing airport for carrying out various expansion projects including construction of a terminal, a runway and flight maintenance unit, Achuthanandan said while replying to a submission. The authority wanted the State Government to hand over the land free of cost and the Government has not taken a final decision on the matter, he said. (PTI): The 'Haj House ' being built near Kozhikode International Airport would be completed before the next pilgrimage season, Kerala Minister in charge of Waqf affairs Paloli Muhammadkutty said on Tuesday. The facility being built at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore would house a namaz hall, dormitory for 1000 pilgrims, dining hall, emigration clearance counters and a Haj committee office, he informed the State Assembly. Agreement signed for Wide Area Network

First semester examination will begin on March 23.The results of MA Malayalam non semester (regular)/supplementary/ improvement/ have been published. Marklists will be distributed from March 15. Provisional certificates will be distributed after March 19.
