DERRICK ROSE GOES LIFETIME ADIDAS

Chicago Bulls All-Star point guard, Derrick Rose, is rumored to be preparing to sign a $250K USD contract with Adidas. The deal, being dubbed a "lifetime" one, will span 10 years. Sources say the plan is to give the Nike/Kobe deal some competition, especially in China and the rest of the Far East. If true, Rose will make it into the books as the current highest paid shoe endorser in all of the NBA!

RACISM IN MEXICAN CHILDREN

A video for an anti-racism campaign sponsored by the Mexican government is raising all kinds of eyebrows, and hopefully, awareness about the deep-rooted social issue. The almost four minute long piece captures a handful of responses from Mexican children that are asked to differentiate between a white doll and a black doll. When asked loaded questions like which doll is ugly, bad, good, trustworthy, etc., the children almost always attributed the negative qualities to the black doll. Ricardo Bucio Mujica, President of The National Council To Prevent Discrimination, points out that the experiment is meant to highlight some very real social stigmas and perceptions:

The biography of infamous Jazz musician, John Coltrane , is getting ready to hit bookstands as a graphic novel. The book, aptly titled Coltrane, is illustrated by Italian artist, Paolo Parisi, who's body of work actually includes some album sleeves for Soul Jazz Records. They claim that the government is monitoring blogs, message boards, and social media platforms like Twitter without the public's consent. The scrutiny is said to go so far as to pinpoint specific flag words that, in turn, trigger the agency to track and monitor a user's online activity. Hmm, you don't say?

Presenting chef Anthony Bourdain's "Krampus Carol ," a darker spin on the animated Christmas Eve story. This one's about a monster that get's rid of naughty children. In an attempt to reclaim "lost" youth and restore "moral values," authorities in Indonesia are corralling dozens of punk teens and forcing them to give up their rebellious ways. The effort includes shaving the heads of many of the detainees, ridding them of their punk attire, and forcing them into a strict regimen of religion and military drills. Swedish ad agency, Ester, was recently hired to create a safe sex campaign for young adults in Stockholm. 500,000 condoms embedded with QR codes and a safe sex app later, and the Kondom08 Campaign was born. Here's how it works: Partners scan the QR code, which installs an app onto their smart phones. When initiated (right before sex), the app reminds users to put on their condom and then the phone records the session (sound and movement). Users can then create their own profile based on their stats and compare them with with other safe sex practitioners. Fun!
