Truly stylish women all have one thing in common, they have their own unique look. When we style the Editor???s Picks pages in the office, we can always tell whose page it is based on the 10 pieces that they have selected. Most super stylish women have one piece that sums up their style" (i.e., Zanna and her slouchy trousers, Irina Lazareanu and her leather jacket). INK_BLAST | SMALL TOWNS ARE TARGETING UNDOCUMENTED TENANTS
2008-08-23 12:30:00
Many small towns and cities are acting like vigilantes and taking immigration matters into their own hands. Close to 90 municipalities in 27 states have drafted -- and a handful have enacted into law -- ordinances that prohibit landlords from renting to illegal immigrants. Penalties have also been approved, making a national policy issue a harsh economic reality for local tenants. Among the cities that have received national attention for enacting rental bans are Farmers Branch, Texas, Palm Bay, Fla., Valley Park, Mo., Riverside, N.J., and Hazleton, Pa. The rental bans essentially turn landlords into federal immigration officers. Because they are not provided any training or supervision in this area, these landlords may escalate tensions.

Thread is so twentieth-century. Glue is the new thread according to Glue Jeans whose seams are glued instead of sewn. The jeans launched this week by the Dutch design duo G + N during the opening of Amsterdam International Fashion Week. Not to sound pessimistic because this is an innovative idea...yet, we wonder how long it will be before they come apart at the seam, no pun intended.

Skyrocketing rents are pushing black and Latino residents out of their communities. The polite word for this is gentrification, and in New York, it?s becoming more than a nuisance.

LIVE & DIRECT | BEIJING 2008: PART TWO
2008-08-12 00:53:00
So I know that most of you (if you're anything like the other 4 billion people in the world) are probably interested to hear about what it was like to be in Beijing during that most spectacular opening ceremonies event of all times-- and it was spectacular, let me assure you. You're thinking: wow -- Grace must have been so blown away just to be anywhere near it; the buzz in the city; the fireworks and yeah, it was cool to see it in real time, but I wasn't in the stadium, nor was I even anywhere near it really. The only difference between being there and watching it on TV (that I heard of) was that if you watched it at home, you didn't lose 10 pounds or risk dying from heat exhaustion, and you were able to eat and drink like a normal person -- instead of waiting in line to buy a concession from one of 3 people selling them throughout the stadium.

LIVE & DIRECT | BEIJING 2008: PART ONE
2008-08-05 18:57:00
Greetings from my new home for the month: the sprawling metropolis of Beijing ...at least I think it's sprawling: I can't really see it sprawling through the thick "haze" that no one here seems to be concerned with or find problematic (elephant in the room or elephant sitting on top of us?). The smog is worse than smog. It's as if we are walking around in a foggy cloud, only this cloud tastes really bad and I can feel a ball of nastiness curling up in the back of my throat every time I walk outside. The air seems to be a bit less dense and stinky once inside the hotel -- maybe there is some sort of air filtration system? Not so over on the campus of Beijing Normal University, the home of the High Performance Training Center; the sacred ground upon which the US athletes complete their final days of training before competing...and also home to the group of people that we are hosting here. The air seems to be heavier over there -- and more invasive. Imagine working out while breathin...

2008-07-30 16:20:00
Citizen, a brand of watches that we've always admired for their affordability and reliability is the company behind the cool, hip, retro inspired watch brand called Indepenedent. We're not sure what the relationship is as we couldn't find much information online but there seems to be some connection with the Japanese based Tokyoflash Corp. where you can order these limited edition watches straight from the states.

BREAKING DOWN AT&T'S NEW IPHONE 3G PRICING PLANS
2008-07-11 21:32:00
With all of the media related hoopla surrounding the new iPhone's release ($199 for the 8GB & $299 for the 16GB), we've been thinking about possibly switching from our Sprint enabled Blackberry's to Apple iPhone's given that the new version will be operating on the 3G network and all. So after going on AT&T's site in search of pricing plans to compare and finding it all a bit vague, we decided to do a Google search and here's an excellent pricing breakdown we found courtesy of the folks over at Apple Insider. They succintly compare the costs of the original iPhone to the new 3G one including monthly SMS charges.
