PRODIGY'S ILLUMINATION
2011-10-13 06:32:00
Complex Magazine sat down with Mobb Deep member, Prodigy, to discuss his take on the Illuminati and secret societies. Albeit, "hardcore" Hip-Hop usually gets dismissed by so-called "scholars" and intellectuals, we'll be the first to note that "P" drops some real knowledge on this one. Population control, mind control, presidential bloodlines, you name it, he disscusses it!

Many girls have a strange reaction to men who treat them poorly. It?s some sort of Pavlovian response where, if you are mean or disrespectful to us, we are in turn, super nice and accommodating in the hopes of turning things around and making us all one big happy family.

NEW YORK, PHEW YORK
2011-10-11 06:36:00
Hotel concierge, Amber Jones, knows a thing or two about getting around The Big Apple. But it's not the sights and sounds that she concerns herself about in her upcoming children's book New York , Phew York--it's the smells! Jones says that she got the idea for creating the scratch-and-sniff storybook about the different aromas (and stenches) of the city after she found herself walking towards the scent of nearby pizza, only to accidentally step in horse manure. A slew of publishing proposals and fundraisers later and she's getting ready to release the title this coming November. With 450 pre-orders already placed, we think it's pretty safe to say that this idea smells like success!

POLAND'S CROOKED FOREST
2011-10-10 02:24:00
No, this isn't a set for a new Harry Potter or Lord Of The Rings flick, it's actually a real place. Dubbed the "Crooked Forest" (for obvious reasons), a peculiar acre located in Western Poland contains about 400 trees with a 90-degree "bend" at their base. While it isn't exactly clear what the cause behind the unusual growth is, some theories point towards man-made interference or the weight of heavy snow loads combined with long Spring melts.

2011-10-06 15:00:00
NBA lockout or not, when you've played as hard as Lebron "King" James, loyal fans faithfully expect your presence. Thankfully, both Nike Sports wear and Mr. James realize this and have pushed full-steam-ahead in unveiling the King's 2011 Holiday Collection. Some of the standout pieces from the mix include LJ's signature "1823" rugby and a return of the all-wool "Destroyer" jacket, this time with a "Lion 6" logo adorned on the sleeve and "Vivat Rex" (Long Live The King) embroidered on the inside. Also a part of the collection are a pair of winterized Air Force 1 Premium Lows and Nike Air Max Conquer boots--slated for Quickstrike release in early November. Guess this means that just because the King's not on the court, doesn't mean he can't have his royal attire!

RECONSTRUCTING BRAIN IMAGES
2011-10-05 07:40:00
Neuroscientists from the University of California, Berkley have successfully discovered a way to reconstruct brain activity into visual format. Researchers at the Gallant Lab had subjects watch movie trailers while placed inside of a Functional Magnetic Resonance Image Machine that scanned their brain function. The collected data was then decoded by computer and matched with visuals from a database of random video clips. What resulted is the following--reconstructed visual approximations of brain activity that clearly match what the subjects were watching. Mind-blowing. Literally!

WORLDWIDE UNREST
2011-10-04 08:55:00
A recent New York Times article highlights a very fascinating and intriguing movement that's sweeping the globe--unrest. Yes, we've seen it everywhere this year, from the Twitter-induced revolution in Libya, to the riots in London, to the more recent Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City. According to the article, more young people than ever before are outraged with politics and government corruption, and letting it be known! A big factor, the article also explains, has a lot to do with the leaderless Web culture that is so prominent among many of these young rebels. The resources available via the Internet have created almost perfect storm conditions for worldwide upheaval.

MAIL-ORDER ART
2011-10-03 15:00:00
A Boston-based start-up by the name of Turning Art is snagging a page out of Netflix's rent-by-mail model and delivering fresh, rotating visuals right to its customer's doorsteps! After wading through the time-consuming ordeal of selecting the right piece for his own space, founder, Jason Gracilieri, was inspired to create something that would make it easier for others--a mail-order service that allows customers to select art from a library of replica prints and "try it out" in their homes for a monthly fee of $10/month for a standard frame and $30/month for a larger frame. There's even an accumulating ArtCredit feature that can be applied to the purchase of original pieces. Check out the following video to see how it all works:

POLICE BRUTALITY AT OCCUPY WALL STREET
2011-09-30 17:08:00
The recent Occupy Wall Street protest in New York City is garnering national/international outrage, and not necessarily just because of the nature of the demonstration. Instead, the spotlight is being placed on NYPD officers for their aggressive and downright abusive response to peaceful protestors. The following is an MSNBC report from Lawrence O'Donnell (The Last Word) that focuses on some very candid examples of the excessive force caught on camera. Some truly disturbing images that raise a lot of questions...

AMERICAN "JUGGALO"
2011-09-30 07:26:00
American Juggalo is quite possibly one of the most insanely candid (albeit beautifully shot) documentaries we've come across in a very long time. Film maker, Sean Dunne, and his crew take us into the unseen and often-misunderstood world of Juggalo culture via a series of interviews at a four-day festival in Illinois. The results are both astonishing and enlightening, as we pretty much guarantee that you've never seen the culture captured this raw. Disable your not-suitable-for-work filter and let this one rip...
