As Americans go to the polls today, this important story that ran on this past Sunday's 60 minutes on Remote Area Medical underscores the urgent importance of developing some form of Universal Health care for all Americans. As the proverbial white picket fence surrounding our American Dream collapses, it makes us wonder how is it that Stan Brock who's a foreigner, can manage to provide medical services to 17,000 people for $250K a year while our politicians and healthcare industry can't even produce a white paper report for that same amount. SAY WORD! | YOUNG VENEZUELAN IS CHANGING THE FACE OF CLASSICAL MUSIC

Gustavo Dudamel began taking music lessons at the tender age of four, by the time he turned 15, he was the conductor of Venezuela?s national youth orchestra. In 2004, he successfully defeated 15 other hopefuls for the prestigious Mahler Prize, which is the most important competition for young conductors. Soon afterward, his career takes off and Gustavo garners international attention and recognition culminating in him being named the music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic earlier this year. At the age of 26, Gustavo has performed at concert halls the world over and has become the talk of the Classical Music genre. Mr. Dudamel has even performed for the Pope.

Major League Baseball has announced that the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy will host its first Urban Invitational Baseball Tournament from February 29 ? March 2. Two Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Bethune-Cookman University (Daytona Beach, FL) and Southern University (Baton Rouge, LA), will face off against collegiate baseball powerhouses UCLA and USC. The participation of HBCUs in the Urban Invitational is part of MLB?s ongoing diversity and youth initiatives.

SAY WORD! | STANFORD FOLLOWS HARVARD'S LEAD IN OFFERING FREE TUITION

Stanford University announced yesterday the largest increase in its history for its financial aid program for undergraduates. Under the new program, parents with incomes of less than $100,000 will no longer pay tuition. Parents with incomes of less than $60,000 will not be expected to pay tuition or contribute to the costs of room, board and other expenses. Students will still be expected to contribute their earnings from work during the summer and academic year.

But this is the exact reason why we need a new political direction in this country where business lobbyists are somewhat neutralized from tainting and interfering with our political process. HARVARD ANNOUNCES SWEEPING FREE TUITION INITIATIVE

Harvard University announced this past weekend that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard's president Lawrence H. Summers said, 'When only 10 percent of the students in Elite higher education come from families in lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution.' If you know of a family earning less than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from low income families can go to Harvard for free...no tuition and no student loans.
