Eco Friendly Hubcap Creatures Art!
2008-05-21 17:11:00 Check these cool creature art made with re-cycled hub caps. Hubcap creatures are made entirely from re-cycled materials. All the hubcaps are found, usually on the side of the road, and therefore bear the scars of their previous lives in the form of scratches and abrasions. I believe these marks add texture and history to the creatures they decorate, and so choose not to fill, overpaint or alter them in any way. via zedomax Animals, Arts and Entertainment, creatures art, hub caps, hubcaps, previous lives, Re-use, Recycle, scratches, texture More About: Friendly , Creatures
Eco friendly diamond testing
2008-05-21 17:00:00 The mining industry and especially the diamond industry have had a seriously bad image problem over the years for one thing or another, but there are some companies out there looking to change all of that. EGL USA has launched a new way evaluating diamonds, this is called the Envira Series Report and it would seem to be a good and green way of evaluating jewellery. These reports will offer an independent analysis of eco friendly jewellery. This will explain the background of the metals and diamonds, i.e. Conflict Free and Environmentally Friendly . To complete the process the report is printed onto recycled paper and by using a soy based ink. Only eligible jewellery will be allowed to be evaluated using this system. UK schools failing to teach green living
2008-05-21 16:00:00 Despite being part of the national curriculum the body that is charged with checking over schools Ofsted has recently been carrying out a study into the important subject of green living. The government are looking that all schools should be sustainable by the year 2020, the idea being that the teaching staff and the pupils limiting the impact that they have on the planet. However there is no real directive which blankets the whole educational system through the country. What is needed is a coordinated approach to the subject and action plans developed in order for this to work properly. art, blankets, Children and Toys, Conservation, Consumerism, curriculum, education, Green , Green Living , Socially Responsible, Sustainable More About: Schools

TreeHugger Writer Buys SUV, Explains in Blog
2008-05-20 22:07:00 My good friend Twitter alerted me to this eco story. It involves a writer from TreeHugger and an SUV he bought. The writer is Mark OntKush and he humorously decides to have an interview with himself to explain his decision to acquire a cross-over SUV, the Honda CRV. He pretty much shares that he went with the Honda CRV over a hybrid SUV, or an EV such (as the Prius), because: he needed the bigger room, he has a family of three he needed the bigger cargo space, he buys alot of lumber he lives in-town (irrelevant, but Mark lives in Boston) he telecommutes to work the wife takes a bus to work he logs on average about 6,000 miles a year he didn’t want to spend $1,500 on repairs, on his old ailing vehicle he is a hyper miler The piece is an interesting read, as it is a personal choice and decision. To share it with the world, as Mark OntKush has done, is quite brave of him. As of this writing, the article at TreeHugger has garnered alot of attention, over 135 comments (both posi... Some people are really good at recycling
2008-05-20 21:40:00 You know that there is always somebody out there who goes just that little bit further, and in this case it is a man who spent a lot of time collecting chopsticks from the restaurant in the Koriyama City Hall, as you can imagine they come in pairs so obtaining the 7,382 that he needed for this canoe may have taken a fair bit of time. But after all of that dedication, he also had time to piece it together and build something that is not only made from recycled materials, but is an eco friendly mode of transport too, not bad, I just hope that he used water proof glue, otherwise it could all end in tears. Japan: The Least Eco-Minded City
2008-05-20 20:00:00 We all know that a lot of cities in the world today have a lot to learn and do to be able to cope up with the eco-friendly measures that are being required to combat global warming. But you will be surprised at how this city would come from a country that is known to be at the forefront of it all… Japan . Japan has long been known as a vital contributor towards contraptions and gadgets that help combat global warming and apparently they have forgotten to implement these measures on their own turf. Call it an act of being tactless, this is simply a big blow considering that people of a leading country where most green technology originates is the one who does not even give a hoot about global warning. Japan may be at the cutting edge of green technologies, but its capital has the least environmentally conscious residents of eight of the world’s richest cities, a poll showed. More than four in 10 Tokyo residents — 41.6 percent — said they “don’t want to... More About: City
Greasestock 2008: The Cars of the Future
2008-05-20 19:56:00 When we talk about cars of the future, we often think of the new models that leading car manufacturers would come out with. Among them would include the green contributions of using green materials and applying alternative energy sources such as electricity for most. But the cars of the future are really the cars of the past. How did they become cars of the future? Well, through the fuel that they use, such as canola and vegetable oil. So in this case, it is about the fuel needed to run them and not the make. With oil rising as each day passes, the real culprit is how to deal with the continuing rising prices that seems to be going up forever. alternative energy sources, Auto, canola, car manufacturers, Cars , cars of the future, electricity, Fuel Efficient, Green News, Green Transportation, models, vegetable oil More About: Future , The Future , The Cars , 2008
