JO 2016 : 4 villes en lice pour les prochains Jeux Olympiques
2008-06-07 14:00:00 Le Comité International Olympique (CIO) a annoncé cette semaine dans un communiqué que Chicago (Etats-Unis) , Tokyo (Japon), Rio de Janeiro (Brésil) et Madrid (Espagne) avaient franchi la première étape de la procédure de candidature à l'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2016. Les quatre villes candidates ont été retenues à l'unanimité sur un total de sept villes requérantes comprenant également Prague (République tchèque), Bakou (Azerbaïdjan) et Doha (Qatar), indique le CIO dans un communiqué.

Chicago Still in the Hunt for the 2016 Summer Olympics
2008-06-04 19:38:00 The BBC, The Wall Street Journal, and the Offical website for the Olympic Movement have released stories that Chicago is on the list of the final four cities to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. The other cities on the list are Tokyo, Madrid, and Rio de Janeiro. Each city now has 16 months to present their case. The International Olympic Committee will make a decision in Copenhagen on October 2, 2009.According to the BBC, "The strongest contender in terms of infrastructure, support and money is Chicago, 20 years after the last US summer Games in Atlanta, 1996 . . . The Americans will however have to improve the technical aspect of their bid after an IOC evaluation report ranked Tokyo and Madrid much higher than Chicago, with Rio in fourth place."This would be a great opportunity for all of the Midwest--and the state of Wisconsin. We should do all that we can to help Chicago secure the games.
