Air Asia Paint A320 In Williams Colours
2008-03-20 19:02:00 Air Asia have painted an entire Airbus A320 in the colours of the Williams F1 Team’s FW30 livery. The airline, who have been a sponsor to the British team since 2007, have painted the new aircraft in the blue and white colours, and named the aircraft “Sir Frank Williams”. Nico Rosberg’s helmet colours were replicated for the nose of the aircraft. “It has been incredible to see the AT&T Williams livery on AirAsia’s plane,” said Rosberg, at the launch. “I’m delighted that the design of my helmet, which I have been racing with all my life, has been used to create a lasting tribute to the team’s partnership with Air Asia.”

Op het filmpje lijkt het alsof het vliegtuig de landingsbaan net niet raakt. Op internet zijn nu foto's verschenen waarop te zien is hoe de linkvleugel van het toestel toch flink beschadigd is geraakt.

AirAsia to become the largest A320 airline operator in the world
2007-12-10 16:01:00 The largest and leading low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia, AirAsia has placed the largest order of a total of 225 A320s, making it the biggest operator for the aircraft in the world. The latest contract for an additional 25 A320s together with a further 25 A320s on option, brings AirAsia Group's (Malaysia AirAsia, Thai AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia) total orders to 175 firm orders and 50 purchase options. The contract was signed today at the Langkawi Airshow by Dato’ Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad and John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer - Customers of Airbus. The momentous ceremony was witnessed by YAB Dato’ Sri Najib bin Tun Hj. Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. Rajasekaran said the advantage of the A320 is that it has more seats ? 125 economy and 20 business class seats unlike Boeing 737 hitherto operated in this route.
