On January 19th Activision registered a product called “Guitar Hero On Tour” with the United States Patent and Trademark office. Two distinct possibilities exist for this game given the title: either we’re looking at a game for portable devices (likely either a DS or cellphones) or an all-live-recording version of the game. In a statement emailed to Wired today, Rock Band makers Harmonix said that they created the patch, which was submitted to Sony and approved for release on Tuesday, December 4. Apparently, Activision has simultaneously fessed up to the lack of stereo on "some" Guitar Hero III discs for the Wii and offered to make amends. Company spokeswoman Rhy-Ming Poon stated that the firm "recently became aware that some consumers have not been able to enjoy the full audio output in the Nintendo Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock," and added that it was "currently working with Nintendo and planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game." For users who already bought in, these re-mastered discs should be available at no cost sometime in early 2008, but specifics beyond that weren't disclosed. 2007-12-07 02:14:00 After months of hundreds of gamers complaining about Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for the Nintendo Wii playing music in mono sound only, a fix is finally coming. Activision has acknowledged the problem and has promised replacement discs to current customers at no cost. Re-mastered discs will be available by early next year. In an updated response, Activision's customer support department stated, "We recently became aware that some consumers have not been able to enjoy the full audio output in the Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. We are currently working with Nintendo and are planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game.
