Bulgaria: Aer Lingus Announces New Route to Bourgas in Bulgaria
2008-03-03 10:35:00 Aer Lingus today announced a new service from Dublin to Bourgas in Bulgaria. The new service marks the first Aer Lingus scheduled flight to Bulgaria and moreover, the only scheduled service from Ireland. From mid-June the airline will operate two flights weekly. Bourgas Airport is in close proximity to major tourist resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Bulgaria is an increasingly attractive destination with Irish tourist and property investors alike. Speaking on the development, Enda Corneille, Corporate Affairs Director said, ” We are delighted to be able to offer our customers another new popular holiday destination which compliments our existing extensive schedule. We believe the Bulgarian resort will prove particularly popular with families and holiday- makers alike.” In addition to great flight deals, aerlingus.com offers discounts on over 80,000 hotels worldwide with four- star Bulgarian hotels starting from €30 per room per night. Tues Trio: Ryanair in Charleroi, NYT Surprises, Aer Lingus Fare Sale
2007-12-11 17:26:00 We slept in a good hour beyond our typical wake-up time. So it’s a sleepy Tuesday. This is just background information. Ignore at will, but know that our morning coffee is especially appreciated today. The following things have caught our attention over the last few days: 1. Ryanair has announced five new routes in and out of Brussels Charleroi (to Bergerac, Limoges, Perpignan, Porto, and Zaragoza.) No Ryanair expansion these days comes without a cancellation, though there’s only one casuality here: the London Stansted-Charleroi route. Has Eurostar felled Ryanair on the London-Brussels route? It would appear so. 2. On Sunday, the New York Times published travel articles on Kazakhstan and Greenland. If Kazakhstan represents the eastern edge of Europe (with just a piece of its territory west of the Urals) and Greenland represents its western edge (technically a part of the Americas, but tied culturally and politically to Europe), then the NYT pleased us to no end on Sunday...

I think Aer Lingus must be jinxed for me
2007-08-15 09:14:00 The last time I flew on Aer Lingus it was way, way back in the mid 1980s and we only went with them because the alternative was actually going bust at the time. Now, 20 odd years on and I book with them for next Wednesday and, guess what?, yup, that’s the very day that they ...
Aer Lingus Announces Three New Ireland-US Routes
2007-04-04 21:02:00 Photo by Leave The Box In September, Aer Lingus will begin offering three new routes between Ireland and North America. Thanks to the addition of two new aircraft, this legacy-turned-low-cost carrier is introducing direct flights between Ireland and Washington D.C. (Dulles), Orlando, and San Francisco. Aer Lingus already operates direct routes between Ireland and New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. Though service from the new cities will not be daily—flights to and from Orlando will operate three times per week and flights to and from Washington and San Francisco will operate four times per week—with pre-tax one-way fares starting at just €125 to D.C., €145 to Orlando, and €160 to San Francisco, this is news that anyone contemplating a cheap hop from the US to Europe (or Europe to the US) will want to check out.

Boycott Aer Lingus' anti business travel policy
2007-01-19 19:46:00 Aer Lingus has declared war on business travellers. They’ve introduced new hand-baggage restrictions which make it virtually impossible to avoid checking-in your bag. So what, you might ask? Forget the added cost for a minute, there’s the sheer inconvenience of having to wait in some draughty baggage hall at both ends of your journey while the baggage mis-handlers delay/damage/steal your possessions (delete as appropriate). Lots of airlines charge for checked-in baggage. That’s not the issue. The problem is the ridiculously low weight restrictions Aer Lingus has imposed. A quick comparison of various airlines ( including airlines serving European routes outside Ireland) shows Aer Lingus now has the most restrictive hand-baggage weight limits in Europe. What sort of customer service is this?Imagine you’re frequent traveller on business to London, Paris or Brussels for a few nights, a common event. You pack your bag with some overnight things, a few changes of clothes, some fi...
