Shameful Revelation
2009-07-23 15:36:00 Thank God, I will get a view of the Battle of Armageddon from the grand stand seats of the heavens. All who are born again will see the battle of Armageddon, but it will be from the skies (Carl McIntire, 1965) What then should be the believer’s attitude to the destruction of the world by fire? ...

In Case of Rapture, Check I.D.
2009-06-02 19:20:00 In Isaiah 46 the author talks of two of the ancient Babylonian Gods, Bel and Nebo: 1 Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden. The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary. 2 They stoop and bow down together; unable to rescue the burden, they themselves go off into captivity. I ...

What The Hell Did He Say?
2008-05-10 01:03:00 Throughout these discussions a persistent question has been raised; how can anyone be blind to the obvious scriptural supports for the doctrine of Hell? It has even been pointed out that Jesus himself talks very clearly of a definite place called Hell. Since both the scriptures and the Messiah are Jewish, it may help if ...

The Smaaart: perfect for going to the afterlife or 80mph (yes, it?s a stret
2008-04-12 04:33:00 click to enlarge (again - ba-da-bing!) Ever have that dream where can of Red Bull is doing something illegal with a smart fortwo? We finally found someone who's taken that image from pure fantasy into glorified advertising reality: the conversion house Carbonyte UK (also responsible for the world's first Ferrari 'limousine'). Carbonyte unveiled the world's only stretch Smart car today - called the Carbonyte Smaaart, of course. The Smaaart, and ex-fortwo, is now 17 feet long but still has the same engine and can go 80 mph (but why?). Want your own? Carbonyte will make one for you for around £25,000 and plaster any logo you wish on the side. If you're just curious to see how it drives - or have some drinks to sell - Carbonye will also rent the Smaaart to you for a day. I seriously hope this line from the press release (available in full after the jump) is a joke: "Carbonyte is also looking to take the Smaaart into the funeral industry by using the latest electric technology...

Goin? Green into the afterlife: all-electric hearses for your last ride
2007-12-12 06:35:00 Emucesa, the company that manages the cemetery of Granada, Spain (here's a link for more on the cemetery's history), has decided to replace its three hearses with greener vehicles: electric all-new ones. An unnamed Spanish company is currently working on the design of the models, which will be unveiled next January. Emucesa will replace the current three diesel Mercedes hearses, which are converted E-Class station wagons, for these all-electric end-of-life rides. José Antonio Muñoz, manager of Emucesa, said that their first option was using converted golf carts with a special trailer behind, but that solution brought mobility problems, since the vehicles have to maneuver backwards to access niches and tombs. The project, called Ion, will not only include the design of the powertrain and the vehicle itself, but requires that the hearses have other features, such as a sound system that plays music. Traditional funerals in Spain end up with relatives and friends walking beh...

Is the hope of an afterlife the easy way?
2007-10-25 07:59:00 I hate violence, and for many years I hoped the human race could rise above it, and overcome it, and become the truly compassionate creatures we have the potential to be. Now, I think that hope is and was false. And that will never happen. Obviously, people have hard feelings that they cannot control. read more

Ghosts, comedy, afterlife and room 1408
2007-06-06 07:11:00 Spirits RuleI have see allot movies on ghosts, scary, funny and some of both, this movie 1408 Movie has some of both. A best selling book author, scoffs at the concept of afterlife, and writes about discrediting paranormal events in famous graveyards and haunted houses. His life is about to change when he starts on a new book project, "Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms", checks into the Dolphin Hotel, room 1408 has had deaths of 56 people in 98 years, that is pretty amazing, what are the odds, the author defys warnings of the hotel manager, that no one has lasted more than an hour in room 1408. With the history of the hotel, another best selling book is on the horzin, Enslin must go from a ghost skeptic to a true ghost and afterlife believer to survive the night.Back a few years a go my wife received a call from a hospital, about 3:15 pm, it showed the hospital name in the caller ID. The call was just static on the lines, she hung up and call from the same place came back three...
Pondering the afterlife
2007-05-11 08:05:00 For whatever reason, the notion of an afterlife has (apparently) existed throughout human history in one form or another. Perhaps, even in the primeval ages nonexistence was too much for people to comprehend so they developed metaphysical paradigms to shield against the anxiety. In ancient Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilization, the person was thought to continue existing after death as a ghost restricted to the netherworld. Death was accepted as final, even then. Once one descended down the path of no return, there was no leaving the netherworld. Gilgamesh?s quest for immortality was averted, the unequivocal rationale being that immortality was reserved for the gods.More recent notions of the afterlife, such as heaven and hell, no doubt help alleviate existential anxiety and counter the injustice witnessed in the world. Heaven provides a future place for the good to be rewarded and to have a happy existence despite whatever suffering they might have been dealt on earth. An eternal...
The torture of the grave Islam and the afterlife
2007-05-05 08:28:00 by Leor HeleviHardly a week goes by without front-page news of Muslims dying somewhere in the world in a violent way. Despite all the media attention, there is little understanding among non-Muslims of Islamic views of death and the afterlife. Everyone knows, of course, that after death martyrs go straight to the Garden of Eden, where they recline on couches, savor meats and fruits and enjoy the company of dark-eyed houris while listening to the sound of flowing rivers. But what happens to the vast majority of Muslims, those who do not die as martyrs? According to Islamic doctrine, between the moment of death and the burial ceremony, the spirit of a deceased Muslim takes a quick journey to Heaven and Hell, where it beholds visions of the bliss and torture awaiting humanity at the end of days.By the time corpse handlers are ready to wash the body, the spirit returns to earth to observe the preparations for burial and to accompany the procession toward the cemetery. But then, befor...

FAQ: Without belief in an afterlife / fear of hell, how can people be moral
2007-02-28 12:34:01 Think of two children. One “behaves” because he was properly raised, because he really cares about doing the right thing, because he has moral principles. The second “behaves” only because he’s afraid of being spanked. Which one do you think is the “better” child? The most moral one? There are many possible reasons to care for other people. Empathy, for instance. Cooperation. Community. Belief in other people. Love. Respect. A sense of justice, of fairness. Wanting to make the world a better place. Does one really need a threat of eternal punishment as well? In fact, when you say that “without fear of hell, people would kill, rape, steal, and so on”, aren’t you, in effect, saying that that’s what you would do if you didn’t believe there was a hell? That you don’t see any other reasons not to kill, rape or steal? Copyright © 2007 Way of the Mind
