English Afternoon Tea
2007-11-14 17:22:00 I have been busy lately..that's why I haven't been updating my blog or blog-hopping....sorry.. I will try and visit your blogs as often as I can. My mum is better now...but I still have to help her with her business..so I am basically stuck at home...really bored shitless!! Where have all my friends gone??!!! Not around I suppose...this is NOT a holiday for me...I have to wake up at 4:30am every day to help with food preparation and work till 10pm at night before I can go anywhere... So tired by then....afternoon I have to look after Ian and have afternoon nap...really cannot take it..can't wait till I am back to the UK. On my trip back here...I find that people have changed... have snob-berish "fake" so-called relatives, people who don't even bother to call and etc... unless they need a favour from you and also people whom you never hear from ages but it is you who are the one keeping in touch with them...why I even bother, I wonder.. So-called friends who claimed all sorts and...

Pret a Portea Afternoon Tea at The Berkeley
2007-10-19 12:07:00 After an exhausting morning?s shopping, London?s fashionistas can now head to the Berkeley Hotel for a stylish new take on a traditionally English pastime. With its chocolate-coloured walls and chic faux-crocodile fabrics, the Caramel Room is the perfect setting for their Pret a Portea afternoon tea. From 2-6pm every day, they serve up couture champagne, pots of tea and dainty sandwiches on striped Paul Smith crockery. The tiny canapés are delicious, but the highlight of the menu is the selection of fashion-themed cakes and treats inspired by top designers. This season these include an Anya Hindmarch lemon handbag, an Alexander McQueen lavender floral crème cone, and an Emmanuel Ungaro blackberry mousse accompanied by a Manolo Blahnik high heeled shoe. If you don?t have room for a bikini biscuit or two, don?t worry - you can always take them home with you in a green and pink handbag-shaped take-out box. The experience has already been praised by Vogue and won the ?best afternoon tea...

Afternoon Tea vs. High Tea
2007-10-07 00:29:00 Author: Bamboo Tea HouseOriginal Source: Tea as a Way of Life - High TeaAfternoon Tea was introduced in England by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840. The Duchess would become hungry around four o'clock in the afternoon. The evening meal in her household was served fashionably late at eight o'clock, thus leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner. The Duchess asked that a tray of tea, bread and butter, and cake be brought to her room during the late afternoon. This became a habit of hers and she began inviting friends to join her. This pause for tea became a fashionable social event in which the whole of England indulged. During the 1880's the upper-class and society women were changing into long gowns, gloves and hats for their afternoon teas.High Tea is served around six o'clock and is in reality a hearty evening meal. Afternoon Tea at the Biltmore Hotel Rendezvous Court in Downtown Los Angel
2007-07-25 00:50:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: Where, oh where, have all the tearooms gone? Several of our favorite tearooms have closed down in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Aren't there enough regular patrons for this kind of treat to keep these establishments open? ... We wanted to organize an afternoon tea get together with friends recently and were disappointed by the available options. Some of the options did appear nice but we were not ready to pay sixty-five dollars per person for a cup of tea and the accompanying finger food. Fortunately, we read an article about the Rendezvous Court at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles and their afternoon tea service. It was twenty-two dollars per person and the tea was served in their beautiful Rendezvous Court. Biltmore Hotel has long been on our list of places to visit and this would be a perfect time to tour the premises. We made reservations for ten people at three in the afternoon ...Rate and Review : Afternoon Tea at t...

Strawberry for Afternoon Tea
2007-07-14 16:16:00 Now that my son doesn't nap in the afternoon, I have to prepare afternoon tea for him. He sometimes take only fruits and milk for tea. Sandwich is another thing he likes. So now other than cracking my head to think what to cook for dinner, I have to also think what to make for afternoon tea. Strawberry Ice Milk ... A glass of Strawberry Milk with a scoop of Strawberry Ice. It's actually Strawberry Sorbet I made but minus the lime juice, so it's not sour at all. Strawberry Cheesy Ham Sandwich ... Bread with cream cheese and ham topped with another slice of bread with Strawberry Jam. All my son's favourite, rolled up together.

Eating Beef Tripe Noodles for Afternoon Tea
2007-05-15 16:53:00 We're halfway through my mini trip to Hong Kong. This was my routine for two and a half days:-wake up-eat a cheap and delicious Hong Kong-style breakfast-eat lunch-eat afternoon tea-eat dinner-eat dessert (Hui Lau Shan 80% of the time)**repeatThis is how you maximize your time in Hong Kong if you're only here for a short period of time--eat yourself into oblivion! Anyways, here's my little blurb about what I had for my afternoon tea "snack". We hung around Tsim Sha Tsui for the day so this is where most of my meals originated. This time around, I revisited one of my favorite little restaurants that serves some of the best beef tripe (the muscular lining of a cow's stomach; loved by all around the world) noodles. If you haven't had beef tripe done up Hong Kong style (it's always awesome for dim sum) I would highly recommend it. The beef tripe at this little spot in marinated in its own juices all day, resulting in tripe that melts in your mouth. *insert Homer Simpson drool soun...
Eating an Afternoon Tea "Snack" in Hong Kong
2007-05-09 16:55:00 So after a three and half hour flight to Hong Kong from Seoul, I was extremely famished once I landed. Having "afternoon tea" in Hong Kong consists of a variety of things. Known as "hah-mmm-cha" in Cantonese, it can very well be one of my favorite things to do in Hong Kong. There is nothing better than drinking a (hot or iced) Yuanyang (a mixture of coffee and Hong Kong-style milk tea) at your local dai pai dong (open air food stall) or cha chaan teng (Chinese tea restaurant) in the afternoon. I had my afternoon tea "snack" experience at the Olympian City mall near the Olympic MTR station in Tai Kwok Chui. The new few posts will be dedicated to all the food that touched my lips one way or another.First up we have an iced yuanyang (it's pronounced yeen-yeung). This drink was included in the price of my afternoon tea "snack. If you've never experienced a yuanyang before, the moment you try one, either hot or cold you will be hooked. The addiction is similar to Vietnamese-style iced ...

As nasty as an afternoon tea party
0000-00-00 00:00:00 -By Michael M. Bates The Democrats are really going after one another now. It’s bare knuckles, brass knuckles, brawling, malicious, vicious, brutal, vitriolic. The contest may even border on – dare I say it? – mean spirited. At least that’s the storyline dished out by the mainstream media. Democratic ...
