There are no words to describe it, but it happened. IT HAPPENED! When I woke up this early Friday morning, I wiped the sleep from my eyes while thinking "was it all a dream, a wonderful, wonderous dream?" I put on ESPN radio, and the now legendary Boston comeback was all they were gabbing about. YES! You see, all those thoughts were in my head - there was no one here to say it to. But I didn't care...the Sox won! Holy you-know-what! THEY DID IT!!!!!!!!It was 7-0 Tampa Bay after six, and if there was a word that meant bleaker than bleak, more hopeless than hopeless, more maddening that maddening, well, that word could have been applied. But four Boston runs in the seventh with the big blow a three run Big Papi home run, brought it to 7-4. The Fenway Faithful stirred, seemingly energized just a bit. Little did they (or we watching NESN) know what was to come. BUT IT CAME. Three more runs followed in the eighth with a key ten pitch at bat by Coco Crisp, maybe the best at bat of his ca...
The Astrological Ages
2008-09-22 11:45:00
The Twelve ages of the ZodiacThe modern thoughts and theories behind the concept of an astrological age, probably comes directly from the conceptions about Jesus, from his birth until his death (maybe even the three days after) and then the ancient Egyptians offer some extra evidence for these theories. What age… Aquarius? Huh-ah! Time to get going! Many experts on the topic of astrology agree that we about to entered the Age of Aquarius, or that it is in the near future. And then there are others that have other theories, such as, that this age was more than four centuries ago.The ages of the zodiac is based upon the phenomenon known as the precession of the equinoxes. The precession of the equinoxes is the rotations of the earth, but also its rotation in its orbit space.Let’s see if we can break it down even more:It is said that the earths ‘wobbling’ (and more) are following a cycle of around 25,765 years (others say 25,920 years), said in other words, it takes the equinox a...

A Team for the Ages
2008-06-10 01:32:00
The year began just as it had the past few seasons in Fresno. The Bulldogs would be ranked in the top twenty five only to falter out of the gates. Diamond Dog fans in Fresno were once again left to question whether this team had the talent to win their third consecutive WAC title. As the season moved along Fresno State sat near the .500 mark for much longer than many of us were comfortable with. The Dogs were not playing good baseball and everyone including the players themselves knew it. Towards the tail end of the WAC season Fresno State held on to first place by the skin of their teeth and entered the WAC tournament as the one seed. What happened next is something that every Bulldog fan will remember for the rest of their lives.Fresno State went on to win their third straight WAC tournament in 2008. To this date the Bulldogs have not lost once during the course of the WAC tournament in their history. But Fresno State had been in this position before. Much like the Lady Do...

Bad sperm hurts kids of older dadsAAP | Tuesday, 03 June 2008 FairfaxJUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH: Researchers believe that as a man ages, the quality of his sperm declines, resulting in children with a higher risk of autism, epilepsy and other disorders.Children are almost twice as likely to die before reaching adulthood if their fathers are aged over 45, a new study says. And scientists believe the declining quality of sperm as men age is a factor.Deaths of children fathered by over-45s occurred at almost twice the rate of those fathered by men aged between 25 and 30, according to a new study cited by Britain's Telegraph newspaper.Scientists believe children fathered by older men are more likely to suffer particular congenital defects as well as autism, schizophrenia and epilepsy, the news report said.A total of 100,000 children born between 1980 and 1996 were examined, of whom 830 have so far died before they reached 18, the majority when they were less than a year old.The deaths of man...
Brody Jenner Ages
2008-06-06 00:17:00
Reality tv "star" Brody Jenner celebrated his 25th birthday in Maui, Hawaii with his family. Dude, that's his Mom , Linda Thompson, with him in this photo. Wow, plastic surgery can work wonders! If you keep your eyes shifted downscope, she's not bad for an old broad! Just don't look up, those sunglasses could fall off. Brody's brother Brandon Jenner and girlfriend, model Cora Skinner, were there, too. I'm shocked that Spencer Pratt isn't popping out from behind a palm tree to spoil their picture. Stanley Cup final: Penguins wins a game for the ages.
2008-06-03 07:05:00
Yesterday, game five of the Stanley Cup final was presented at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Up 3-1 in the series, the Detroit Red Wings had the opportunity to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins one more time and win the championship in front of their fans. The first period was dominated by the Penguins who played with desperation. Marian Hossa opened the score halfway into the period with his 11th goal of the playoffs. Then, Adam Hall doubled Pittsburgh's lead before the end of the first frame. But the Red Wings shifted gears and started to play better as the game went on. Early into the second period, Darren Helm put one past goaltender Marc-Andr Fleury making it a 2-1 game.Into the third period, Pavel Datsuk tied the game at 2 with his 10th goal of the playoffs during a man-advantage. Only three minutes later, Brian Rafalski sent the Wings ahead for the first time of the contest. The crowd was loud, screaming ''we want the Cup''. The Stanley Cup was out of it's case and ready ...

Playing in the dirt is proper for all ages.
2008-05-30 20:36:00
There is a parking lot of tonka trucks beside our garage: big, dirty, a bit rusty.... well used. Now, that is the way it should be. The bright yellow and brown are visible as soon as you near the house. We have a very well maintained lawn, sun gardens, and a mulched 'sitting area'. And we have grandsons. YES life is good! We also have a gravel driveway. I give the boys trowels and the freedom to move dirt. With determination they pile up pebbles and stones. They build roads and bulldozer fodder. It takes them hours to accomplish a good mess. And, may I add with pride, they do it well. These guys are not the only one who stoop and sweat with a trowel in hand. Dale and I hover over our seedlings in the garden right now. We move and remove rows of weedlets - not a word but should be: tiny little weeds waiting to grow larger than a watermelon. We travel up and down the rows of carrots and green beans with a bucket filling it with our weed pickings. Our objective: a co...

V&A?s new jewellery gallery: rocks of ages
2008-05-11 04:42:00
V&A's new jewellery gallery: rocks of ages Prepare to be dazzled - after years in storage the V&A's jawdropping collection of jewellery from the past 3,000 years is about to go on permanent display. Linda Grant gets to try it on After toiling up three flights of marble stairs to the top floor of the Victoria and Albert Museum, you come to a fairly ordinary wooden door, behind which is an old-fashioned office, apparently unchanged, apart from the computers and the telephone design, since the 1930s.  A 700 BC gorget At the far end is another, more secure door, and beyond that an archaic sort of filing system with trays mounting from floor to ceiling. Wearing rubber gloves, Beatriz Chadour-Sampson, the consultant curator, pulls out a box, and on it lies what at first appears to be a curved gold necklace, made perhaps some time in the 1930s. But it's not a necklace; it's a gorget, a kind of ceremonial breastplate. It weighs almost nothing, the gold has been so finel...
It's been ages.
2008-05-06 10:24:00
I haven't posted since last Tuesday. That is down to a mixture of busyness and laziness. More laziness I'd say. Since last week, I've gone to the gym for the first time in nearly 6 months. It was a very relaxing experience. There were not many people there and I did what I wanted to do and the drive back is incredibly scenic, although I had to put the visor down because of the number of insects about. Then yesterday did a long walk around Lucan Demense, which is a a fabulous park between Lucan and Leixlip. It has a lot of fences up for pending water works but hopefully that won't take too long.I hope to go train down there in the next few weeks.
The History Of Hydroponics Throughout The Ages
2008-05-06 07:00:00
Hydroponics has its beginnings alongside the formation of the first major civilizations. Hieroglyphic records show that the ancient Egyptians were probably the first people to attempt to grow plants in a soil-less environment. Some suspect that the hanging Gardens of Babylon may have used primitive hydroponic technology. The Roman Emperor Tiberius is believed to ...

As Europe ages - how can we tackle its demographic decline?
2008-04-26 19:31:00
At current trends the average age of people in the European Union will be 49 years by 2050. Combining this with a low birth-rate could mean serious long term implications. It could lead to lower tax receipts as fewer people are of working age and increasing health costs for an aging population. Encouraging immigration and ...
Wine Travels And Tours - The Pastime of the Ages
2008-04-20 11:50:00
As history continues to be made each day, leisure activities such as the ones associated with wine travels and tours continue to increase in popularity. These are not the type of activities that came from today’s society. Wine travels and tours were more likely part of medieval society. While the assortments of wines were less prevalent, individuals continued to travel and participate in buying their favorite wines. Numerous people would take tours around the tasting facilities that would create their favorite brew. Because of this tour tasting, many wine lovers possibly ended their day with a great deal of pain or possibly even death on the field of the jousting. Wine tours and travel is therefore a whimsical term that describes folk’s efforts in the eternal hunt for their favorite wine travel and facilities that make it. The Wine Tour - Selection of Grapes In truth the best part of wine travels and tours is the wine tasting. That’s when you really get to taste t...

Minimum ages and rules for learner drivers and riders By Mahesh Ugale
2008-03-17 06:30:00
Before you learn to drive or ride a new vehicle make sure you know about the rules and restrictions that apply to you. Different vehicles have different minimum ages and restrictions. Rules for learner drivers Before you start to drive, you must: Hold a valid, provisional driving license for Great Britain or Northern Ireland Make sure that any vehicle you drive is roadworthy and properly taxed and insured It is important to learn safe driving practice from the beginning of your driving career because bad habits are hard to break. It is unlikely that anyone except an approved driving instructor (ADI) would have the experience, knowledge and training to teach you properly. Learning safe driving habits from the start will improve the safety of yourself and other road users. If you want to practice your driving with an accompanying driver, the accompanying driver must be over the age of 21 and must have held (and still hold) a full license for three years. As a learner driver you must dis...

Even At Older Ages, Is That 10 Year Term The Right Choice?
2008-03-09 00:00:00
Often when a person gets into their 70’s, life insurance choices have to be studied more carefully. In most cases there is only one term option left, the 10 year term insurance. If that doesn’t work for you, the only other practical option is a universal life with a no lapse guarantee, a cashless permanent ...
WMAP Reveals Neutrinos, End of Dark Ages, First Second of Universe
2008-03-08 22:56:00
NASA released this week five years of data collected by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) that refines our understanding of the universe and its development. It is a treasure trove of information, including at least three major findings:New evidence that a sea of cosmic neutrinos permeates the universe Clear evidence the first stars took more than a half-billion years to create a cosmic fog Tight new constraints on the burst of expansion in the universe's first trillionth of a second"We are living in an extraordinary time," said Gary Hinshaw of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. "Ours is the first generation in human history to make such detailed and far-reaching measurements of our universe."WMAP measures a remnant of the early universe - its oldest light. The conditions of the early times are imprinted on this light. It is the result of what happened earlier, and a backlight for the later development of the universe. This light lost energy as the ...
