My Atheism, Agnosticism and Skeptisism
2008-02-10 21:46:00 I grew up being raised as a methodist but now consider myself a Skeptical Agnostic Atheist. If you think these terms cannot co-exist together, read on, because I think you may have a misunderstanding of the two terms.I consider myself an Atheist because I do not believe there is a god. That does NOT mean the same thing as "I believe there is not a god." I have tried to believe there was a god and that he created all of what we see either directly or indirectly but there is no proof. None. If, at any moment, god presents himself (or herself... or itself?) to me and can provide sufficient proof that he is god, then I will believe. Instantly. The only proof that that I seem to get is the "modern miracle." Not good enough. It's not repeatable. It's, by definition, is not testable and there's no way to prove that it is not a fluke.Agnosticism is NOT necessarily about the belief in a god. It's the philosophical view about the truth value of a claim. They argue that absolute knowledge ...

Agnosticism- christiansquoting.org.uk
2008-01-16 10:48:00 A world in which men know that most of what they know is probably untrue cannot be dignified with the name of a sceptical world; it is simply an impotent and abject world, not attacking anything, but accepting everything while trusting nothing; accepting even its own incapacity to attack; accepting its own lack of authority to accept; doubting its very right to doubt. We are grateful for this public experiment and demonstration; it has taught us much. We did not believe that rationalists were so utterly mad until they made it quite clear to us. We did not ourselves think that the mere denial of our dogmas could end in such dehumanised and demented anarchy. It might have taken the world a long time to understand that what it had been taught to dismiss as mediaeval theology was often mere common sense; although the very term common sense, or communis sententia, was a mediaeval conception. But it took the world very little time to understand that the talk on the other side was most unc...

Ontological Argument: The Playground Version
2008-01-09 17:31:00 Richard Dawkins writes about the Ontological Argument in The God Delusion: Let me translate this infantile argument into the appropriate language, which is the language of the playground: ‘Bet you I can prove God exists.’ ‘Bet you can’t.’ ‘Right then, imagine the most perfect perfect perfect thing possible.’ ‘Okay, now what?’ ‘Now, is that perfect perfect perfect thing real? Does it ...

Circumscision in the past
2008-01-02 22:45:00 Imagine how disturbing it was for all those poor Jews having good ol’ Abraham man-handle their penises, slicing off parts of their skin. No anesthetic, guys. If some bearded schmuck told me that god commanded this, I’d kick him in the balls and tell him to use a natural “male enhancer” instead of jealously cutting off ...
Burden of proof is on the Theist
2007-12-22 22:31:00 As explained by an atheist in… *dun dun dun* a cape! Read the following after viewing the video: If god’s existence can not be proven, it is hence reasonable to reject it as an outlandish and ridiculous claim. This leads to what we now call Agnostic Atheism. That is, I reject the notion of god’s existence due ...

2007-12-18 16:23:00 This shows that you don’t have to be religious to do good deeds. Hindu gods asked to appear in court
2007-12-09 16:41:00 Mr.Ram and Mr.Hanuman the blue monkey god have been asked to appear in court. No, seriously… Religions the world over are keeping to their traditional reason for conflict: land ownership. In this case a Hindu temple was under dispute. Locals charged that it belonged to the gods, the priest defended saying it belonged to him. After 20 ...

2007-12-07 10:09:00 Over Three Hundred Proofs of God?s Existence is one of the most brilliant attempts to show the irrationality of such proofs, and as a bonus, they are all hilarious! Do check out the original article… meanwhile, for the more busy souls, here are some selections: 5. MODAL ONTOLOGICAL ARGUMENT (1) God is either necessary or unnecessary. (2) God is ...
The problem(s) with religion?
2007-12-06 16:52:00 This comic illustrates the difference between a Muslim/Christian and a nut. The following illustrates how theists feel after apostatizing:
Arguing against Theists; an effort in?
2007-12-04 07:02:00 This picture hilariously demonstrates the problem with arguing against theists about the existence of god:
The sufi who would destroy Islam
2007-12-02 16:47:00 From my favorite blog, Lame Crab Walks Straight I will incinerate this creed and religion, and burn it. Then I will put your love in its place. How long must I hide this love in my heart? What the traveler seeks is not the religion and not the creed: Only You. - Ayn al-Qozat Hamadani, executed at the age 33, on the charge of ...
Russell and Hell
2007-11-28 12:57:00 Nothing would be more apt for my first post than the remembrance of a small, yet very significant moment of early adolescence: The discovery that Bertrand Russell was an atheist by coming across a quote of him. I can clearly recall my reaction to it at that time. I was horrified, and i felt a knot in my stomach and ...
Has slavery truly been abolished?
2007-11-26 18:35:00 Like many atheists, I tend to like Richard Dawkins. He’s reasonable, down-to-Earth and passionate about right-headedness. He’s moral, or, at least, makes an effort to be. And, like all people who pursue causes, he prioritizes one cause over others (which is in fact how it ought to be, to concentrate resources better) but does not ...
Fundamentalist Christian preaching
2007-11-23 21:05:00 So there I was thinking I had written enough criticism of Christianity and Christians for the time being, trying to shift my focus back to Islam and Muslims, but alas… I ran in to a super Christian blog that just compelled me to write! Many apologies to my Christian readers, but I feel I ...
Islamophobia & other hate crimes statistics in the US
2007-11-20 19:22:00 Although I came across the following from a right-wing neo-con-ish, zionist-looking blog which I am thoroughly turned off by, the post itself has merit. Namely because the source of the following statistics are reliable. They’re from our very own FBI! The following tables list hate crimes in 2006: Bias motivation Incidents Offenses Victims1 Religion: 1,462 1,597 1,750 Anti-Islamic 156 191 208 Anti-Jewish 967 1,027 1,144 Anti-Atheism/Agnosticism/etc. 7 8 8 191 anti-Islamic incidents, 1,027 anti-Jewish incidents! These statistics ...
Christians are genocidal maniacs!?
2007-11-18 18:00:00 No you don’t have to go all the way back to the Spanish Inquisition to find violence by Christians, acting as a “Christian Force” - a group identity based on religious lines, attacking another religious group. Most people don’t hear about this because they are inundated by right wing anti-Islamic blogs or are just too busy ...
Quran vs Old Testament
2007-11-17 04:38:00 Which one’s more violent? The Old Testament easily. Because when the Quran calls for killing people, in all but one verse it makes killing an act of self defense. Whereas the Torah has beautiful gems like: I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that ...
Dialog between an imp & ?The Last Believer?
2007-10-22 02:41:00 Some words from our great imp, T. Aulia, in a conversation with the only Towelian who (until recently) believed there was a god: The Last Believer says: I don’t want to sound selfish, but in reality, you have to be selfish and keep yourself happy and healthy in order to give of ...

T. Aulia goes to an Eid party
2007-10-15 01:38:00 Our legendary mascot, the imp T. Aulia recently went to a private Eid party he was invited to. The following account by T. Aulia elaborates an experience both Diet Muslims and anti-Islam critics can learn from. The Diet Muslims can benefit from a few theological lessons in this article and the anti-Islam critics can experience the ...
A Muslim responds to Salman Rushdie and Ayaan Hirsi
2007-10-13 10:01:00 She writes with meaningful sarcasm but poor English. But her point is well made: She quotes Salman Rushdie: As you read this, Ayaan Hirsi Ali sits in a safe house with armed men guarding her door. She is one of the most poised, intelligent and compassionate advocates of freedom of speech and conscience alive today, and for ...

In God We Doubt
2007-09-03 23:40:00 John Humphrys went looking for God and ended up an angry agnostic ? unable to believe but enraged by the arrogance of militant atheists. It?s hard to see the purpose of the world, he says, but don?t blame its evils on religion.
An Argument for Agnosticism (Martin)
2007-09-03 13:50:00 The following is a cross-post written by Martin Cooke from Enigmania:Either the world was deliberately created, so that some sort of theism is true, or else atheism is true, but both options involve us in such mysteries (as the two below) that to choose either, given only such evidence as is publicly available (and so worthy of being called ‘evidence’), would be to favour irrationally one mystery over another, whence agnosticism (i.e. the absence of a belief either way) is to be preferred. The obvious problem with theism is that, when we look at the world we see only mundane things, no gods and not even angels or fairies. We don’t even see any clear evidence that the world was deliberately created, or is being guided from above, or even watched over. But more importantly our language is so orientated towards the world that we are unable even to form a clear idea of what its creator might be like.Conversely we know a lot about the world. We even know that our brains are composed...

FAQs about Agnosticism
2007-04-16 19:51:00 The following has been inspired by an article found here. The original article was written by the famous philosopher, Bertrand Russel. And by “inspired” we mean shamelessly plagiarized! Heh. But there was a need to edit it drastically for the sake of making it more up to date with the current times and to better formulate ...
Although the terms atheism and agnosticism have well defined
2007-01-15 12:03:04 Although the terms atheism and agnosticism have well defined meanings, I think that it would be of interest to separate each term into general and specific forms, because some common logical contradictions may become clear(er) by doing so… General atheism- “there is no god.” This includes me, and anyone who describes him or herself as “atheist”. Specific atheism- “this particular god doesn’t exist.” Most theists are, actually, specific atheists about every god but theirs. General agnosticism- “it’s impossible to know whether a god exists.” Self-described “agnostics” should, in theory, be here. However… Specific agnosticism- “it’s impossible to know whether this particular god exists.” You probably know examples of each. As I said, “true” atheists are general atheists. To them, it makes no sense to discriminate between one god and the other; they’re all fictional....
