Ahmadinejad Slams Israel At Food Meeting
2008-06-04 14:22:00 Like Obama, Ahmadinejad is starting to sound like a one tune pony Among the more provocative speakers was Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, who blamed the Western nations for creating the food crisis by devaluing the dollar and forcing up oil prices, and described Israel as a criminal state. Of course, that is as far as the NY Times will go, but, in their defense, the story was about a world food shortage. LA Times? They talk about some of Ahmadinejad’s comments, but nothing about Sneezy. Israeli President Shimon Peres slammed Ahmadinejad being invited to the conference, saying the Iranian leader was providing “bombs, not food” to the world. Right before the conference, Ahmadinejad had this to say Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad predicted yesterday that Israel will soon be “erased” and that the “satanic power of the United States” will be “annihilated,” according to reports from Tehran. Reuters says the radical I...

McCain Attacks Obama at AIPAC
2008-06-03 10:14:00 On Monday, John McCain picked a bi-partisan conference for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee as his stage to attack his likely opponent, Barack Obama. McCain?s personal attack on a candidate by name was a first for the AIPAC conference and took many of the people there by surprise. The crowd sounded somewhat receptive to his words, cheering loudly at the comments on Iran which has threatened to destroy Israel. McCain tried to pin Obama as too soft on Iran and told the crowd that his position on the measure to declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist state, was the wrong one to have. ?We hear talk of a meeting with the Iranian leadership offered up as if it were some sudden inspiration, a bold new idea that somehow nobody has ever thought of before. Yet it?s hard to see what such a summit with President Ahmadinejad would actually gain, except an earful of anti-Semitic rants, and a worldwide audience for a man who denies one Holocaust and talks...

Ahmadinejad?

Obama Helped Ahmadinejad
2008-05-22 05:21:00 BUOYED by their modest electoral success last month, critics ofPresident Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's provocative foreign policy werepreparing to launch a series of attacks on him in the Islamic Majlis,Iran's ersatz parliament. But then Ahmadinejad got an unexpected boostfrom Barack Obama. Ali Larijani, Iran's former nuclear negotiator and now a Majlis member, was arguing that the Islamic Republic would pay a heavy price forAhmadinejad's rejection of three UN Security Council resolutions onnukes. Then the likely Democratic presidential nominee stepped in. Obama announced that, if elected, he wouldn'task Iran to comply with UN resolutions as a precondition for directtalks with Ahmadinejad: "Preconditions, as it applies to a country likeIran, for example, was a term of art. Ahmadinejad Supporters Win Parliamentary Elections
2008-03-17 08:09:00 Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s supporters apparently have gained an overwhelming majority in parliamentary elections. Reformist parties opposed to the president stood scant chance of winnng sinc the Guardian Council, which approves all candidates, wiped off the ballot at least 200 reformists. Reform opponents of Ahmadenijad were only able to run candidates in about 60 of the 290 electoral districts. The Interior Minister, Mostafa Pour Mohammadi, said 71% of votes went to conservative factions and 29% went to “other groups,” and we all know who that means. Abot 60% of voters turned out which conservatives hailed as a dramatic challenge to America which has been attacking Ahmadinejad. The cnservatives are split, one faction is upset at the inept economic performance of Ahmadinejad whose handling of the nation’s economy has resulted in an 18% inflation rate and high unemployment. Iraq: Ahmadinejad Poised for Victory
2008-03-03 08:15:00 The stink is in the air! The bitter stink of defeat! Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran’s president, can smell it in what he hopes is a victory for one of America’s Liberal candidates. This weekend, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took the first step. In a historic visit to Iraq, one that Ahmadinejad is portraying as a “brotherly” visit. He was met with a “red-carpet” welcome by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani; they kissed and listened to the Iraqi and the Iranian National Anthems played one after another. They then had a meeting, after which Ahmadinejad happily proclaimed: “We had very good talks that were friendly and brotherly. … We have mutual understandings and views in all fields, and both sides plan to improve relations as much as possible.” Apparently President Talabani can smell it to! Ahmadinejad: US Should Apologize to Iran
2008-02-25 22:02:00 Yeah, good luck with that. There's ample evidence that you're still trying to get things going, and if the US was dumb enough to apologize, it would take away all momentum for sanctions. It would also make it look like Iran was right all along. The issue is the enrichment, which Iran has admitted already to accelerating. They have no other reason to do it other than the intent to get nuclear weapons. It's as simple as that. How about Ahmadinejad apologize to Israel for his comments and support for Hezbollah? No? Then don't expect an apology from us. Travis travis@rightwinglunatic.com
