Airline Employees Can Spread Swine Flue.
2009-09-20 07:38:00
Airline employees who report to work ill are more likely than sick passengers to spread infections such as the H1N1 swine flu virus aboard airplanes, with low-paid workers posing the greatest danger, a U.S. government expert said on Thursday.Dr. Michael Bell, an expert on infectious disease with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said flight attendants and other employees who move through aircraft can leave germs on any number of surfaces, while sick passengers could be more likely to remain stationary. But the greatest threat could come from a low-paid airline contractors, such as cleaners, if slim wages and poor benefits make it difficult for them to take a sick day.http://workfromhome.blog.da-da.net
Airline Seating Follows Airline Food... Bye Bye!
2009-09-09 03:59:00
Interior designers in the airline industry are clearly charged to create seating designs that work... for the airlines.  Pack 'em in must be the industry's motto now, as designers create drawings of face to face seating (a lŕ city bus), stand-up seating (a lŕ torture chamber), and stacked seating (a lŕ someone sits in the luggage rack).

Airline cabin crew share their fitness tips
2009-01-11 12:27:00
Airline cabin crew share their fitness tips Twenty five-year-old Ankur has been working as part of Jet Airways' cabin crew for the last two-and-a-half years. This young steward studied computer applications before deciding on a career in aviation. He applied to Jet Airways, got selected and hasn't looked back since. "It pays well, better than any nine-to-five job -- and it allows me to travel," says Ankur when we ask him about his career choice. However, all jobs have their drawbacks and this one has a very strict weight-control regulation. All airlines have a weight limit for their cabin crew; being overweight could cost you your flying career. Ankur tells us how important it is to keep his weight in check. "Every two months we have a weight check. If you're over the limit, you're given a warning and some time to shed the weight. If you still fail to do so and don't show any progress, then you're grounded and not allowed to fly anymore." So how do these young people mana...

A Summary of Your Rights As An Airline Passenger . . .
2008-09-16 05:41:00
"ZIPPO. ZILCH. NADA. "That is the extent of your rights when you step onto an airplane (or "INto" an airplane as George Carlin liked to point out) according to Marc Britton. He should know - he's an attorney who was once General Counsel at Expedia and now runs his own legal advice website called Avvo. He recently wrote a succinct article on this topic at the Journey etc. website Airlines cannot discriminate against you by selling your seat to someone better looking or more pleasant. Nor can they punch you if you get on their nerves. But beyond that, the sky is the limit, as pilots like to say. And who gives them the right to treat you like cattle? You do. When you buy a ticket, you agree to abide by their terms in the Carriage Agreement that they print on their tickets in microscopically small and very light type. However, they are not heartless bastards. Bastards, yes. But not heartless. Maybe we should qualify that with the word "usually" not heartless. They are a slow, incons...

How the Airline Passenger Experience Changed in the Last 20 Years
2008-08-07 17:00:00
Looking at a range of trends, it’s amazing to see how much business travel has changed since 1990. Back then, using a laptop in-flight was such a rare novelty that it involved fending off questions and comments from flight attendants and passengers. There were no automated check-in kiosks, or even electronic tickets. Every passenger got a complimentary ...

And The Airline Fees Continue
2008-05-22 04:53:00
American Airlines is the first of the major airlines to tack on a fee for the first checked bag, but they wont be the last. It wont be long before other airlines follow suit. No one wants to be first but following the leader is a game they are all good at for sure. Jokes have been running rampant about what will be the next thing to cost extra. Some of the funnier ones to date have been a pay toilet paper dispenser and pay to use the overhead space for carry on luggage. Even if the airlines have not been thinking about it, reading may just give them some ideas. Realistically it looks like the beverage service will no longer be complimentary in the near future. We have been paying for alcoholic drinks for a while now, but soft drinks, water, and coffee may be requiring us to have correct change soon. Will this drive people away from flying? I doubt it. Given the alternatives, people will learn to either pay for their new found luxuries or to do without in many cases. Doing...

With the current economic crisis (recession) that we are experiencing in America, this summer will be an expensive one. The cost of gas, food, dairy, clothing and air fares will increase. American Airlines plans to start charging $15 for the first bag checked in, all others bag can be checked in at no charge. Here are 6 tips to help you save money on buying an airline ticket.1. Start with the airlines first. Many airlines have specials that are not advertised on their website. You can call the airline directly and ask about current specials or sign up for the airlines free newsletter or airfare alert service to find out about discounted air fares.2. Find deals. Want cheapest air tickets? -book direct on airline website
2008-05-18 08:09:00
Do you book your airline tickets through travel aggregators like makemytrip (MMT), Ezeego1,Yatra, Flightraja, cleartrip etc? All of them claim they give you lowest airfare. Some of them offer an “upto 50% cash back offer” when paid through a ICICI platinum and other specific credit cards. Because these websites book several tickets everyday they must be getting some discount from airlines and ideally should pass on a part of it to end users (customers who buy tickets from them). But truth seems to be otherwise. After preliminary inspection I found that booking direct on airline website is cheapest option, as most of the travel sites quoted slightly higher than airline website. Some random sample data for your quick information: One way trip- Origin: MAA , Destination: BOM, Date 23rd May 2008 Indigo flight 6E-422 Fare at airline website: Rs 3174  MMT- Rs 3249 Cleartrip-Rs 3276 Ezeego1-Rs 3301 Yatra- Rs.2,959 (Rs 99 + Rs 2,860 taxes & fees)One way, Origin: BOM, Destinatio...
