I know I'm practically begging half the world to come out and call me "homer", "moron", or "idiot" by posting this today. It's timely. Can't help that.I admit it. I like Nick Saban. The media has come out repeatedly and blasted Saban for lying to Miami about his departure. National talking heads all the way down to Nashville's own Franky Wycheck have droned on and on with an ironic righteous indignation (seriously...the media talking about honesty?) and I've just simply grown tired of it. I'm a Dolphins guy, and his departure was obviously a business move. Saban himself has admitted not handling it right. He admits he could have done better. Let's move on."I left college football and found out that where I went was a mistake for me," Saban said, getting a little louder. "And I learned about myself, aiight? ... I could've stayed there, and not enjoyed it, or gone back to what I really loved to do, which is being a college coach. So, that's what I did. And you know? I loved co...
Porch Prognostications...A little early
2007-10-10 23:43:00
In the wake of last week's comment-a-thon, here are my predictions for this weekend's games. Sorry about the absence. Long week. Long story.#22 Auburn at Arkansas-- not even close. Auburn's rolling now, and Arkansas will put up only a meager fight. Auburn 28-13#12 Mizzou at #6 OU- don't let the loss fool ya. The Sooners are good. OU 31-27#*%&$*& Alabama at #oyoyoyoyoy Ole Miss: I wish I could confidently say Bama will take this one. I've just got that Mississippi State circa 2006 feeling. Ole Miss wins at home because of absolutely no defense from a terribly thin 'Bama squad 31-21Here's to next year.
Nick Saban instructs the Bama faithful
2007-09-25 16:51:00
I've been a fan of the Crimson Tide my entire life.I love that school, and team. It represents me. It represents home. Many of you who do not share the same loyalty still understand the sentiment. When 'Bama lost to Georgia this weekend. It didn't bother me very much. The Tide was defeated by a simply better, deeper team. Mark Richt is a good coach, and we are rebuilding. Any other outcome would have been a great surprise. I'm still expecting a 7 or 8 win season at best. The only saddening event in my eyes was the reaction of a few idiots in the endzone who decided to pelt the celebrating Georgia players.I have seen that happen from many different fans, in many different stadiums, but it does not make it right. After the game, Coach Saban addressed the issue indirectly:"One other thing that I'd like to touch on is that I think class is a real critical part of any organization. It's a word that I see, that comes up on our board when we do some of our traditional stuff here as a p...

Gone too soon
2007-08-03 16:32:00
Some of you might remember Tyrone Prothro's amazing catch against Southern Miss in 2005. It wasn't the only one this tiny giant made in his short campaign with the University of Alabama, but it definitely stuck out.Prothro had hands, moves, and speed unmatched by many and was on his way to a spectacular 2005 campaign when a grotesque break against Florida sidelined him.He has not played since, and now it is confirmed he will never play again. His courage endeared himself to many as he continued to rehab, hoping one day to wear crimson once again. It seemingly will not be.Here's to the early exit of a good one.
