2007-10-26 02:25:00 I have had many friends ask me which movie I think is the funniest of all time. This discussion can include a wide array of movies from old B&W “B” movies to sci-fi classics such as Mel Brooks’ famous Space Balls and the sci-fi classic movie Men in Black featuring Will Smith. Perfume - Dir: Tom Tykwer
2007-10-18 15:26:00 From the director of acclaimed Run Lola Run comes this extravagant movie based on the best selling book by Patrick Suskind and one of the most expensive German movies ever. It tells the tale of a man in search of the perfect scent and what he will do to get there. Exquisitely shot and played nicely by lead Ben Whishaw. Feels very different from many period dramas and is gripping from the beginning. There is a slightly stretched out section in the middle but the wonderful denouement more than plays off for this. Supporting cast includes Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman who add even more class to the surroundings. This is a JM RECOMMENDS.

Tim Burton?s Sweeney Todd
2007-04-26 16:24:00 Sweeney Todd The Demon barber of Fleet Street I have always liked Tim Burton’s movies. Beetle Juice, Mars Attacks, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure are some all-time classic movies. (I really liked Sleepy Hollow too.) Burton’s version of Batman was probably the best ever. So it is with great anticipation that I ...

My Name is Rachel Corrie
2007-03-10 19:50:00 Next week March 16th is the fourth anniversary of the death of Rachel Corrie. Rachel was a 23 year old college student and human rights and peace activist from Olympia, Washington who on March 16, 2003 was run over and killed by an Israeli military bulldozer in Rafah, Gaza, while defending a Palestinian home from demolition. Rachel had been working with the International Solidarity Movement to protest Israeli actions in the occupied territories when she was killed in 2003. In a series of emails to her family Rachel described what she experienced in Gaza. These emails and letters were later published by The Guardian and provide a unique insight into life in that troubled region."My Name is Rachel Corrie" a play composed from Corrie's journals and e-mails from Gaza and directed by British actor Alan Rickman, was presented in London in early 2005. The play was also scheduled to open at the New York Theatre Workshop however due to political pressure, the play was ?postponed indefinite... |
