The film is directed by Soumitra Ranade of Jajantaram Mamantram fame.Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Soumitra said, ?We have John Abraham lending his voice for Alibaba, while Saurabh Shukla, Raza Murad, and Mukesh Tiwary do for other characters.?Alibaba and the 40 Thieves is a story based on a boy called Chinku, who lives in Mumbai and is trans-migrated into Arabian Night’s tale. ?The music of the film is given by a group called Three Brothers & a Violin. Alibaba.com & Infomedia partnership
2008-05-01 13:16:00 Alibaba.com and Infomedia India, which publishes the business directory, Yellow Pages, and special interest magazines has entered into strategic partnership. Infomedia is a part of the Network18 Group, which acquired 53 per cent stake in it in December 2007. Yahoo! holds 39 per cent stake in the Alibaba Group. Could Google Buy Yahoo's Stake in Alibaba?
2008-03-20 10:12:00 Google hasn't been shy about its ambitions in China: It desperately wants to own the market. In fact, just this week Eric Schmidt was in Beijing, trying to drum up interest in a redesign of the local Chinese web property. Meanwhile, Google has made little progress. It's been creamed by Baidu (in terms of traffic), and the company is scrambling to catch up. But if Alibaba.com is really looking to buy the stake currently owned by Yahoo (as reported by Reuters), Google would likely be the perfect fit. "The Chinese market is strategically important for Google, and Alibaba would be a valuable partner. Google also has plenty of cash and could write a check for it," says Laura Martin, an analyst with Soleil-Media Metrics. Some background: Yahoo agreed to buy a 40 percent stake of Chinese web company Alibaba.com for $1 billion in August 2005. Alibaba.com CEO Jack Ma (above), had previously vowed to squash Yahoo and Google "for fun."

I Hate Alibaba (The Website, Not The Company)
2007-10-23 10:00:00 Just back from China (Hong Kong, actually), where I saw a television interview with Jack Ma of Alibaba. He never fails to impress the hell out of me and every time I see him my first thought is BUY. But then I think about all the harm Alibaba has caused to so many Western SMEs and I change my mind about calling my broker/brother. Alibaba makes the naive think China sourcing is easy. I realize blaming Alibaba for the mistakes companies make in using its site is really not fair to Alibaba, but at the same time, I do not see much use for the site beyond its serving as a really good directory of potential manufacturers of particular products. Turns out I have company. Paul Midler (who is believed to have coined the term "quality fade" to describe how Chinese manufacturers eventually reduce their product quality), over at his new blog, The China Game, just came out with a post where he questions Alibaba's value and posits that its usefulness has declined and will continue to ...

China - Baidu, Google, Alibaba
2007-08-23 19:57:00 Last Month in China - Baidu, Google and Alibaba August 21st, 2007 by Gemme | 2 Comments It has been some time since my last overview of the latest “What happened in Chinaâ€. I just blame it on buying an apartment in Shanghai:). There has happened a lot and I will highlight the most significant. Baidu is yet again offering more services, Google revives Answers, Yahoo resumes real name service and Alibaba starts an ad exchange. First something else. Halfway July, the China Internet Network Information Centre (CNNIC is a government agency) released the lowdown on the number of Internet users in China. The report showed a sharp increase over the last half year, from 137 million to 162 million users. It surprised me but I couldn’t figure out right away what the cause was. The CWRblog did have an explanation for it, by citing from the report that the CNNIC has changed their definition of an Internet user. In all previous reports Internet users...
