Introducing the Alphabet Part II
2009-06-09 08:25:00
After six weeks of introducing the English Alphabet to Bianca, she is continuing to improve. During the first two weeks, she could not cooperate very well, and she would last for only 15 to 20 minutes during our session. At her age, her attention span is too short, and it is hard for her to concentrate. Indeed, patience is a virtue. When I introduced the alphabet to her, I divided it into two sessions. In the morning, I introduced the letters from A to L, and in the afternoon the letters from M to Z. Now she can tell you the sound of every letter in the alphabet. As we keep going, she continues to improve and is doing great, and she is very enthusiastic to learn more. At the age of 19 months old, Bianca could recognize the letters in the alphabet from A to U. Although, we are still working on the letters V, W, X, Y and Z. She started counting from 1 to 10 too, because every time she washes her hands, I count to 10. Bianca is very moody though, I have never sat her down very long jus...

Introducing the Alphabet
2009-05-08 00:35:00
I have bragged about how my daughter Maria learned the alphabet and has read words and sentences at the age of two. I know how it is amazing to me how that she can read early. Some of you may think that I am conceited, but I think every parent is proud of their child when they have an achievement. Some children can read early and others not so early, but it doesn’t always mean one is smarter than the other. It has a lot to do with their environment and whether they can get the resources and help that they would need. I have seen some children that can read as a little baby and much younger than my daughters. Today, I started introducing the English alphabet to my 2nd daughter Bianca. She turned 18 months old on the 30th of March. She can interact with me while we study it. I’m no expert on child development, but let me share with you how I teach them. Please join with me and Bianca for her reading milestones. 4-1-09
But I had an excuse, whereas The Boy had none. (The Found Alphabet, E)
2009-05-04 17:10:00
There is a cautionary tale about the letter "E."The "E" shown here is found in the word "Exit" which sits atop the sign for "John Nolen Drive" in Madison. I decided to use that "E" for the Found Alphabet because The Boy had a near-miss accident not long ago when he was driving to go to a girls' basketball game in the state tournament. He took the "John Nolen Drive" exit too fast and ended up skidding off the road. When I asked him what happened, he said "I hydroplaned." I said "It's sunny and dry." He eventually admitted he'd been going too fast and has since had his driving restricted.Last week, when I decided to use that "E" for the Found Alphabet, I retraced The Boy's steps, and had to then take out my cell phone camera and snap the picture and then get off the ramp -- and nearly skidded off the road because I'd been more intent on taking the picture than slowing down.Letter "D" is here.

Let's invent a new letter! (The Found Alphabet, D)
2009-04-21 15:49:00
Saturday morning, to give Sweetie a break from the Babies and some peace and quiet, I took them with me to pay my remaining $5.00 fine at the library (thus ensuring my victory and ending the feud), then to the park. For most of the morning, Mr F amused himself by going down the "tornado slide" over and over (about 20, by my count) and by trying to avoid the little girl who thought he was cute -- she was 3, and had come over and tried to hug him, causing him to grimace and go hide behind the swings.)Mr Bunches, meanwhile, focused his attention on trying to climb up the ultra-slippery tunnel slide, forcing me to lie on my back in it and serve as a foot-hold -- putting my hands down and having him brace himself on those while he climbed and climbed, hair rising in the static-electricity-filled atmosphere. When he tired of that, he began playing a game where he'd go across a metal bridge and then jump into my arms. The jungle gym that served as the base camp for all the slide and jumpin...
That dog was really fast. (The Found Alphabet, C)
2009-03-23 02:22:00
This is the "C" on the sign on the fence outside the watertower that is the current object of fascination for Mr Bunches and Mr F. We went for our "Sunday Night Give Mommy A Break" walk tonight, and headed straight for the watertower, where we spent a glorious 15 minutes basking in the presence of that immortal structure. Then it was a vain attempt to catch a dog to pet it, then Daddy carried them back... nearly a mile... uphill... to the house for bathtime.See B here.
I probably got her some flowers that year: The Found Alphabet: B
2009-03-03 04:17:00
This "B" is the handwritten "B" on my office coffee mug. Sweetie made this for me years and years ago for Valentine's Day. She ordered the kit and made the mug somehow all under my nose and surprised me with it on Valentine's Day, and since then it's the only thing I'll drink coffee out of at work. And, if you look closely at the bottom of the mug, you'll see where I've got our wedding announcement in the paper, cut out and on my desk so that I can see it whenever I'm working.See "A" here.
Immortal Cheese: The Found Alphabet: A
2009-02-17 15:48:00
About two years ago, Sweetie and I were walking around a mall. She was shopping. I was accompanying. I began looking at the signs and tags and clothes and cars and license plates and seeing the variety of styles and fonts that were used. I then began taking pictures of the various letters whenever I found them interesting, for whatever reason. That's the story behind The Found Alphabet, which I'll begin today with all-new pictures of the letters I come across in my life, and the reason why I like them.A:This "a" was on the wall at the grocery store where I stopped to get Sweetie's gift card for Valentine's Day. She likes the salad bar they have in the store and goes there on weekends to get herself a fresh salad.I like the fact that on the walls at the store, there are quotes about food that make grocery shopping seem a little more philosophical and a little less a chore. This "a" was in the quote "Food is our common ground, a universal experience." That's not my favorite q...

The Alphabet Of Debt Consolidation And Refinance-00-138
2008-10-29 04:41:00
The Alphabet Of Debt Consolidation And Refinance-00-138 by sas_artikels Mortgages are set loans which are given to first time buyers, homeowners and persons who have bad credit. The loans refinanced for debt merger are loans offered against the equity of your home. As soon as you are consented for the loan, you have to pay the indebtness, that will include interest rates. Some refinancing loans have additional fees attached. The set loans have collateral attached, meaning that if you neglect to make payments, you are subject to legal proceeding or repossession. The merchant bank will come and take your dwelling and sell it for the amount you owe. This is why it is better to make sure you recognise what you are getting into if you are planning to refinance to consolidate your debts. roughly loans include buyers to pay the loans in 25 years, while other people permit 30 repayments. Some of the lenders accessible on the internet that offer refinancing loans for merging of debts are ...

Das Kasachische und Russische Alphabet haben viele Gemeinsamkeiten. Nun gut, da muss man natürlich schon sagen, dass der Stammbaum der Sprachen komplett verschieden ist. Die Turkenvölker stammen im ...

Alphabet Soup
2008-05-23 23:31:00
As agents we often get really hung up on adding all those letters after our names. Does the agent with the longest alphabet win? Some of us think it looks pretty impressive to string the alphabet out as far as we can. Actually, we know those letters indicate certain designations and certifications we've worked hard to get. But do they really mean anything to the public? REALTORS® must have hours of continuing education to stay apt with developments in our industry. We stay educated to better serve our clients and customers. Our clients and customers generally don't have a clue what all those letters stand for: ABR, CRS, GRI, e-PRO, etc. Our job is to be sure our clients and customers know what those letters mean. All those letters mean that a REALTOR® is educated and on top of her game. Those letters mean a client or customer is getting the best the real estate industry has to offer. Those designations and certifications mean th...

The politically incorrect alphabet
2008-04-03 06:34:00
My wife is a teacher of young children, and I've spent a fair time of late sitting on undersized chairs admiring the alphabet charts on classroom walls. Typically 'A' will stand for Apple, 'B' for Ball. It occurred to me that 'I' for Indian, one I remember from my childhood, has been replaced as it is no longer politically correct to refer to native/first/indigenous Americans as Indians. Lacking any tact or decency, I therefore determined to create an alphabet using only subjects that, while they might have been unremarked a few decades ago, are now outside acceptable usage. But only just. And then it was my intention to illustrate these in a 'modern' style, something along the lines of Dick Bruna's Miffy (OK, Miffy is 50, but still looks fresh). You can see those I've completed already on this page.

Alphabet Soup - An A to Z of Abbreviations# Author: Rosalind Fergusson# Format:PDF 1.9MB# Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing PLC # Number Of Pages: 192 # Publication Date: 2004-09-20 # ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0747572305 # ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780747572305 This book covers the four main types of abbreviation ? shortenings, contractions, initialisms, and acronyms ? but does not label them explicitly. These four types are as follows:Shortenings of words usually consist of the first few letters of the full form and are usually spelt with a final full stop when they are still regarded as abbreviations, for example cont. = continued, etc. = et cetera. They may also consist of the stressed syllable of the shortened word, e.g. bus or gym. In cases where they form words in their own right, the full stop is omitted, for example hippo = hippopotamus. Such shortenings are often but not always informal. Some become the standard forms, and the full forms are then regarded as formal or technical, for e...
