Can you give us an update on that one?BS: Well, there really is no news at this point. Mike is a dear friend of mine, and we?ve worked together a lot at, and same with Richie, he?s a dear friend of mine and with everyone in Mr. Big. And we?ll just have to wait and see what happens. There?s some demos floating around and we have talked, but nothing has been set in stone yet. I love to play, and this year we are not doing much with Mr. Big. We just spent a whole year together, so this year we are just going to go off and do our own thing. I just spoke with Paul and Pat recently, and they?re doing well. I heard that Eric is out doing some shows, and he?s doing great. So, I?m glad that everyone?s doing well. I?m sure that we will get together again and play. But, in the meantime, I?m going to do a new Niacin record. But, any opportunity to go out and play with Mike Portnoy...

If this were the 1970's, the heyday of such keyboard titans as Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord, Sherinian would be among that elite circle of players who were superstars back in the day when such talent was not only appreciated, but celebrated in popular music. This is, however, 2011, and in this age, Derek Sherinian is the premiere rock keyboardist of his generation, a member of the supergroup Black Country Communion, a former member of Dream Theater, and a solo artist in his own right. Sherinian has played keyboards with artists including Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen and KISS. The shows have been a lot of fun, and the crowds have been fantastic We have filmed three German shows that will be a concert DVD/ CD that will be released in October. To check the remaining dates click here My new solo album is titled "Oceana" that will be released September 15th on Mascot Records The artwork was done by Nello Dell'Omo who I think did a great job. The final list of musicians are Simon Phillips on Co-production, mixing and all drums, Steve Lukather, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Stevens, Tony Franklin, Doug Aldrich, Tony MacAlpine and Jimmy Johnson. I feel that this is my most focused record in terms of compositional style, and has my most diverse keyboard playing.I will release teaster audio samples when i get home from the BCC tour in August. Most of the time when musicians have a tendency to practice something, well they say it?s practice, but it actually involves them going into a practice room and just doing what they can do and then they just come out and do it again. I think that practicing is more of a self-discovery. Good practice habits means trying to develop things you might have found interesting or might not have been exposed to ? so expose yourself to that. Maybe have some listening time and learn with your ears as well as your eyes and your hands. Reading is also important. All these things are meant to educate your mind musically.
