2007-05-04 12:48:00 An isolated report describes acute interstitial nephritis with nephrotic syndrome associated with the use of naproxen and amoxicillin.Case StudyA man without any previous renal problems developed acute interstitial nephritis with nephrotic syndrome after taking naproxen for 4 days (total 4 g) and amoxicillin for 10 days (total 24 g). He appeared to recover when the drugs were stopped, but 3 months later he developed renal failure and needed haemodialysis. 1 This is not only a rare syndrome (reported to be only 55 cases in the world literature in 1988) 1 but this is the first case involving both of these drugs.
