The professional whistler has proven his acoustic abilities once more and any Andrew Bird fan is aware of his sophisticated mind. Even when it comes to a simple acoustic tune like “The Water Jet Cilice”, he cannot avoid himself in shifting a three minute song vocally all around. That’s where his songwriting becomes signature. The man refuses to write a simple song. I prefer this EP to his earlier 2007 work Armchair Apocrypha for its tunefulness. EPs are great places to put all your junks in and sell it to poor fans and Bird is well aware of that and that’s why we see a remix of “Plasticities” and an early version of “Heretics” both dug out from Armchair. 2008-02-09 13:50:00 Andrew Bird is a complicated guy, a professional whistler and a weird yet powerful alternative songwriter. “Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs” is definitely Bird’s best work to date. Here, I’m not trying to focus on the album as a whole; it’s only this 3rd track that grabs the quick attention of every listener with some musical and English knowledge. “A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left” lyrically has mixed concepts involved. I read almost 130 opinions reflected by fans, some of them very useful indeed. So what I did was to check for every unknown word in it at first and then try to figure out what is the general idea behind this mysterious song. I also translated the whole song to Farsi. I took the lyrics apart to three different pieces. It looks like a David Lynch movie to me: although you grab some clues and try to put it together, there’s always a missing piece.
